Like a Virgin?
Part Four
The Material Girl still seeks the spotlight as her talent and skin sag, for she continually lusts after attention. That's the good news; the bad news is that she is still very dangerous because, like a chameleon, she changes her spots to fit the latest craze. Right now that is Kabbalism as in cannibalism of her eternal life. Madonna's madness loves to shock and no one has been more blasphemous against Our Lord and Our Lady or the Catholic Faith. Those flames searing up behind her should shock her into the realization of what she has done. Yet all we get are "no regrets." Really? Check back come judgment time.

"Many readers have asked if we should criticize others when we are all clearly sinners who betray Our Lord regularly. Surely we are all weak creatures steeped in sin and defects who only a loving and merciful God could reach out to. Certainly Our Lord offers us a salvation that we very likely do not deserve in view of our cup so filled with sin and weakness. However, it is one thing to be weak, sinful, and even betray our Lord as Peter did. It is quite another to promote, honor, encourage, and sell that sin, that perversion, that evil to others as messages of love, peace, goodness, or any kind of viable offering at all. It is one thing to betray our faith by our own vile hypocrisy as shown by the sins and apathy that contradict our hopes and efforts on behalf of a God Who deserves nothing less than our best efforts. It is quite another to betray that faith openly, defiantly, mockingly, and profiting from that mockery."

Editor's Note: Gabriel Garnica continues his weekly multi-part series which we've dubbed "Incorrigible Dirigibles" in comparing the liberal factions to blimps full of hot air which nevertheless cast a dark shadow over today's values and morals. In the manner of the Tower of Babel-like zeppelin "Hindenburg," so also these pompous, progressive windbags are full of gaseous, nauseous ideas that can be most dangerous if one seeks to hook a ride on such nonsense. In that same vein, they have nowhere to go but down. One must realize they are highly inflammable and the nearer they float toward the fires of hell, the more combustible souls become who are in their path, beneath them, or, God forbid, their passenger. This week Gabriel follows up on what he covered in his second installment by focusing on quite possibly the most dangerous anti-Mary today - the blasphemous shock-rock diva Madonna who has mocked Our Lady in every manner she could in establishing herself as the ultimate witch of our times. While we know Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will triumph in the end and satan's head will be crushed, we still must suffer the slings and arrows that the ilk of such spurious 'stars' like the rebellious Madonna launch to hide her own insecurities. Sadly, this person who has sold her soul as a slave of satan, has influenced the youth of this world more than we would like to admit, including the majority of gullible teens who will populate Cologne, Germany this week for World Youth Days. Gabriel clues all in on how dangerous this mixed-up diva is with his fourth installment, Like a virgin!

A number of my articles have been inspired by reader comments to earlier pieces, and this offering is the latest example. My recent article on Oprah and Hillary prompted some interesting and perceptive observations from a reader named, appropriately enough, Mary, who reminded us that perhaps Madonna is not as "wilted" as we thought. In fact, taking Mary's lead I investigated Madonna more thoroughly and, to my surprise, I have realized that Madonna is now more dangerous than ever.

Devout Roots Turned Evil

Much has been written about Madonna's Catholic upbringing by a devout mother who named her in honor of The Blessed Mother. She received all of the sacraments and grew up in a fairly devout environment. Tragically, it is also painfully obvious that Madonna came to reject and discard this Catholic upbringing and has mocked it throughout her career. From her infamous Like a Virgin and Like a Prayer songs and videos to her naming of a 1990 album The Immaculate Collection, Madonna has relished in mocking and twisting the Catholic faith to suit her musical and personal ends. Even as she declares that she intends to keep a baby born out of wedlock in her song Papa Don't Preach in 1986, presumably instead of surrendering him to adoption or abortion, Madonna's tone is defiant, libertine, and selfish. She is not saving the baby for the baby's benefit but her own personal whim. She was and remains the poster child of the 'me' generation.

Part of this Madonna mockery is based on the juxtaposition of the holy and sacred with the base, lustful, and selfish. Showing crucifixes, rosaries, statues and clerical garb amid tones and messages of lust, vice, passion, and libertine attitudes seems to be an attractive vehicle for this famous, defiant music icon. A clear example of this is including the much criticized and lustful song and video Justify My Love in the above named Immaculate album. It is nothing if not morbidly ironic and sarcastic to present the flesh in the context of religion, sin as a partner of holiness, and symbols of faith amid tokens of perversion. Madonna's entire career is laced and splattered with swipes and distortions of the faith that her mother must have so lovingly taught her. The latest such mockery occurred this past spring when Madonna and her husband attended a Purim event dressed as a nun and cardinal to the disgust and dismay of many. The clerical scandals that are borne of Vatican II' s toxic influence will never justify such an insult to the true Catholic faith, and surely demonstrate that Madonna is an enemy of Holy Mother Church.

The Occult, Murder, and Hypocrisy

As if mocking the faith of her childhood were not enough for this diva of damnation, Madonna has become a powerful and influential contributor and promoter of Kabbalah, the occult offshoot of the Jewish faith so criticized by many Jews and so faddish with many celebrity types. Much of the lyrics, symbols, and images presented in her work demonstrate a fascination with and promotion of occult and mystical influences. To make matters worse, this heroine of hellish messages is a staunch defender and promoter of abortion, going as far as including a song in a despicable Just Say Roe album celebrating the anniversary of the legalized murder of innocent babies at the hands of many females who follow the values and messages Madonna marketed for many years. The cover of that album shows odd, doll-like faces of babies in disarray and reminds one of the nauseating visions of abortion's currency in death. In fact, a critic commented that Madonna was "probably the perfect choice for inclusion in such a compilation" having reportedly had a number of abortions herself. That anyone who was ever Catholic would ever have anything to do with such trash is about as despicable and vile as things can get. Yet, her covers are not shunned or banned by authorities, while pictures of aborted fetuses are censored because they hit too close to the truth, and, as another Hollywood actor is famous for saying, "You can't handle the truth." Those who opt for their own will in defiance of the Divine Will truly can't handle the truth.

Many readers have asked if we should criticize others when we are all clearly sinners who betray Our Lord regularly. It is quite another to betray that faith openly, defiantly, mockingly, and profiting from that mockery.

The final hypocrisy of Madonna is that, like many survivors in this society's attention span, she has been able to repackage herself many times as needed. From wild libertine to shrewd observer to musical director to social activist to messenger of murder to ironic, protective mother to occult fanatic to philosopher of superficial, self-absorbed hype, this woman has done it all. It is revealing and almost comical that she can kiss another woman in front of millions and then tell a reporter that she wants to raise her children in a strict, good, moral environment while shielding them from wrong. How absurd is it that this woman who supports the murder of innocents and has become rich from spinning sin now writes children's books?

One's head surely spins when considering Madonna's voyage from half-naked dancer to defiant messenger to materialist observer to libertine soldier to social activist to loving mom to author of children's books to spiritual cultist and now to a lady of the manor. What is more amazing is the way these changes have somehow managed to exist amid continuing themes of selfish, arrogant, misguided, and twisted self-importance. I find it appalling that this woman thinks she is qualified to speak profoundly on marriage, children, morality, or anything even remotely important when everything that she has stood for runs counter to all of those things. I find it shockingly arrogant and absurd that this woman now portrays herself as some mature matron serving tea in an English manor when her past and parts of her present speak more of protest, perversion, and promotion than prim presence. Lastly, I do not know what is more pathetic, that this woman clings to importance and headlines, or that this society allows her to do so.

The obvious answer to this puzzle, of course, is that Madonna represents many tragedies of this culture, this society, this world, and this bleeding Catholic faith. She is at once a purveyor and reflector of what ails this society. Her rise to fame and fortune and her survival are merely testaments to what happens when one sells one's soul to the devil for power, money, fame, and celebrity. Her words, images, and messages are consistent with the arrogant, selfish, misguided tones of the New Order and its New Age rhetoric. As a Catholic who spits in the face of her faith every chance that she gets, Madonna is a champion of those who call themselves Catholic while openly and brazenly crying "we will not serve" to their God.

Her Own Words: a Fitting Closing

It is best to conclude this piece by allowing Madonna to speak for herself. In one of her songs she cries, "You can turn this world around…we will find a way to come together and make things better…come together in every nation." This is obviously a reference to a one world order, a one world religion of which the prince of the world rules and to which she is shackled to. In yet another song she utters that "surely whoever speaks to me in the right voice him or her I shall follow". Talk about not having a solid base, she'll follow anyone. She is the perfect example that if you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything.

In the aptly named Goodbye to Innocence song included in the Just Say Roe trash, Madonna states "I owe nothing to no one but myself…and there are some who say they created me but only my parents will have that claim…I took it from there, I am to blame." The fact is, we have only this society to blame for allowing Madonna to become the celebrity and voice of deception she has become. In fact, all three of these women - Oprah, Hillary and Madonna - are the bitter fruits of a society that promotes and encourages the themes they stand for. These three would be mere specks on a windshield if this society weren't so lost and misguided.

It is most ironic that this woman named in honor of the Blessed Mother should stand for everything contrary to what our Blessed Mother is about. Let us all hope and pray that her daughter Lourdes, named after the holy shrine where Our Lady declared "I am the Immaculate Conception" will atone for her mother's sins and become the anti-Madonna in returning sanity and reverence to the family name. I want to thank the reader named Mary who inspired us to reconsider just how dangerous Madonna has been and continues to be. It is most necessary to now add Madonna to Oprah and Hillary as our trio of tragic tenants - a trilogy of messengers of evil. However, it is with greater tragedy that this once Catholic woman now stands at the foot of the Cross mocking Our Lord without remorse even as we do so through our own sinful weakness.

All three combine fame, fortune, power, influence and liberal messages, but only Madonna once held a Rosary in her hands. Pray for her, pray for her children that they will rediscover Our Lady's Holy Rosary and the power it holds. Most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
