Tempting God

Who would ever think that altering the vital Fatima message and downplaying the seriousness of the full Third Secret was not a slap in Heaven's face. Don't the faithful realize that such carelessness would incur the very wrath which previous reliable Pontiffs so clearly warned of? It can only be because man's agenda is not God's agenda. That is evident today in the early days of Benedict XVI's rule.

"With regard to the idea of Russia’s being consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we learn that this idea did not sit too well with the Patriarch and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, Thus to perform this consecration would be seen as an act directly contrary to 'spirit of ecumenism.' Ecumenism, therefore, means not only granting heretical religions the right to exist, indeed, parity with the true religion of Christ, it means favoring them at the expense of the salvation of souls."

Psalm 77:14-22. And he conducted them [the Israelites] with a cloud by day: and all the night with a light of fire. He struck the rock in the wilderness: and gave them to drink, as out of the great deep. He brought forth water out of the rock: and made streams run down as rivers. And they added yet more sin against him: they provoked the most High to wrath in the place without water. And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking meat for their desires. And they spoke ill of God: they said: Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Because he struck the rock, and the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can he also give bread, or provide a table for his people? Therefore the Lord heard, and was angry: and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel. Because they believed not in God: and trusted not in his salvation.

As we might have expected, the election of the new Pope has given us no hope of an immediate reform of the Church. We must expect, no matter what the various spokesmen from within and outside the Church say, Pope Benedict XVI will continue to be what he has been as a Cardinal and the right hand of Pope John Paul II. He is totally dedicated to the "modernization" of the Church, even though he will not carry through this modernization as quickly as the angry avantgarde demand he do. The fact that the media so faithfully quote these embittered hotheads is proof enough that it finds their vituperations useful to their agenda. (I am sure I do not have to remind you that nothing--except by accident--is seen and heard through media channels which is not in some way being used to further the cause of the World Conspiracy.)[Editor's Note: See Gabriel Garnica's current PART ONE and PART TWO in his two-part series "Evil Leading the Blind."]

The new Pope worked hand in glove with Pope John Paul in the tradition of his predecessors for the suppression of the Message of Fatima. This is something that we who are grown cannot be unaware of, something that no Catholic can honestly deny. The Scriptural injunction of St. Paul comes to mind: "Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them tempted and perished by the serpent" (I Cor. 10:9). Tempting God is a act or a series of acts by which an individual sins with an attitude of defiance toward God, with such audacity as to suggest that he dares God to do anything about it. It is impossible to find any better description for the manner in which the Popes of the twentieth century regarded and treated the entire Message of our Lady.

We put aside whatever controversy there may be surrounding some aspects of the Message. About the following things, there can be no reasonable doubt:

  • 1. That the Blessed Virgin appeared to three children of Fatima the six months between May 13 and October 13, 1917.
  • 2. Our Lady (and our Lord Himself) called for the Consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart by the pope in concert with all the bishops of the world. The wording of the message, given to Sr. Lucy is as follows:
"The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, and to order that in union with him and at the same time, all the bishops of the world make the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to convert it because of this day of prayer and worldwide reparation." (June 13, 1929).
  • 3. Our Lady imparted a further message, usually referred to as "the Third Secret," which was to be conveyed to the pope in writing.
  • 4. The contents of this "Third Secret" were to be made public during or before the year 1960.

Why Pope Pius XII, who died in 1958, did not publish the "Third Secret" we do not know. We are left speechless that any word purported to have been spoken by the reigning Queen of Heaven, whose authenticity none of the popes denied, would be withheld from the Catholic world, indeed, the whole world. This is the first question which has arisen on this subject of such immense importance, which confronted the popes and the Catholic people throughout the twentieth century. If the Virgin Mary appeared to us and spoke words which could only have come from the infinite God, how is it possible that these words would be withheld from us; what possible reason can be given for the smothering of her Message? And if these popes continued to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate of Mary (August 22), what possible explanation could they give for refusing to fulfill her request that Russia be consecrated to her under this title? A further question comes to mind in the train of these first two: How will Christ regard the acts of these popes who have so temerariously, and, therefore, scandalously defied His wishes, made to them through His most beloved Mother? A further question still: How will Christ judge the activity of not only the reigning popes, but all the ecclesiastics and lay people, who have participated in a gangster-like program of delay, evasion, misrepresentation, the suppression of evidence, the silencing and persecution of individuals who attempted, with ardent devotion, to bring about the consummation of out Lady’s Message, most particularly, Sr. Lucy, the principal visionary of Fatima.

As late as 2000, exactly forty years after 1960, the last year for the "Third Secret" to have been kept secret, Pope John Paul II "reveals" its contents, which are patently absurd as to be an insult to any adult. (The "Secret" was disclosed to relate to the attempted murder of Pope John Paul II in 1981. Why would our Lady have wanted this revealed in before or during the year 1960 and not 1980? And if this attempt upon the life of the Pope was expected, why was he so careless of his safety until it was made? Why was the secret kept at all, and why was revealed only in 2000?) This "disclosure" had the obvious purpose of putting the whole matter to rest, or rather, to death. It amounted to saying that we want to hear no more talk about what the Mother of God said at Fatima, or to Sr. Lucy, or to anyone else. We are simply not interested in it, so let us hear no more about it. (Or we might get mad and hurt somebody!)

Various of the Conciliar Popes made a feint at consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, though they made sure that they never did it exactly as Sr. Lucy said our Lady had asked. The fact that they did anything of this kind indicates that they did not deny that the request was authentic. None of them ever said that they simply did not belief the request came from Mary. We learn that the reason that none of them did fulfill the request was that it was against Ostpolitick, the policy first established by Pope Pius XI and revived by John XXIII with the Soviet government. During the reign of the latter Pope, this policy, in a nutshell, was that the Catholic Church would not condemn Communism by name, nor the bestial crimes of Soviet Russia and her satellite nations, during the upcoming Council; in return the Soviets would allow Catholic and Russian Orthodox bishops to attend. Afterward, no such condemnations were to be voiced lest Catholics in these Communist states be made to suffer even more injustices and barbarities than they already were.

With regard to the idea of Russia’s being consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we learn that this idea did not sit too well with the Patriarch and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, Thus to perform this consecration would be seen as an act directly contrary to "spirit of ecumenism." Ecumenism, therefore, means not only granting heretical religions the right to exist, indeed, parity with the true religion of Christ, it means favoring them at the expense of the salvation of souls.

Consider this: In 1917, the Virgin Mary warned that "Russia would spread its errors throughout the world. If my requests are fulfilled, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace for awhile." From that day to this, Russia has not been converted, Not only do two hundred and something million people of Russia continue in the state of schism, heresy, and, for the most part, atheism, but also they continue to suffer a total lack of freedom and access to Catholic truth. Furthermore, Russia, despite what the media say, is still a Communist empire and its chief errors of atheism and socialism continue to grow like an unkillable virus in all the nations of the world. For reasons which promise nothing but the continuance of the utterly unhappy status quo, our several popes have deliberately avoided performing the altogether worthy and holy act of consecrating long-suffering Russia to Mary, under the title of her Immaculate Heart. Again, we cannot help but ask the question: What will be God’s judgment upon the popes and all others, who have done such a thing, and continue to do such a thing, and that in the face of many thousands of beseeching Catholics from all around the world? We are not all dummies!
