Part Twenty Five:

Wake-up Call to all Catholics - the first clarion

"Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it." (Luke 11: 28)

With this first issue of 1997 it's time to issue a wake-up call to Catholics everywhere, especially those in Mary's little army, her remnant which dwindles year by year. As we inch closer to the third millennium the clarion sounds that we need to wake-up, we need to gird ourselves for battle for it's time to take back our Church, to return her to her lofty pedestal as the One, True Faith with apologies to no one. We need to re-establish and enforce what the Holy Father Pope John Paul II preaches. If our priests are not echoing his words and enforcing all he teaches, then we need to lovingly remind them what they are called to do. It is no longer a matter of "stepping on toes," rather it's a matter of salvation!

We receive a plethora of information from all over the country. There are bulletin inserts, newspaper articles from both secular and religious papers, pamphlets, booklets, books, etc. It reads like a rap sheet from a police blotter. To be blunt, it would almost appear as if the Church were in intensive care with the doctors dallying on a loooonnnng coffee break!

We can't say we weren't warned. Afterall the Mother of God warned us of this when she began to plead with her children a few centuries ago - first at Rue de Bac, then La Salette, followed by Lourdes. In our own crucial times her messages pertinent to this crisis of faith have not been wrapped in silence. This Century we have Fatima, Garabandal, Akita, Naju, Rwanda, San Nicholas, Betania, Medjugorje and so many other countless sites still either under investigation or not even begun to be investigated by Holy Mother Church.

And in all, the warning is there! The evil one will take her Divine Son away from us, and without Him - the source of Life, our soul shall shrivel and die!

How little we truly love Him, Who is our Father. Consider that satan is hate and satan hates God. The evil one, who is not dumb, knows he cannot hurt God, so what does he do? He goes after that which God loves - us! Yes, we are all God's children, loved infinitely, called by God to share eternal life with Him in Heaven. And what do we do? Do we stand up, as any good child should and must do, and defend Him, our Father? It would seem that the vast majority are so lukewarm and lazy that they are lulled to sleep by the prince of darkness' lies. Because of this we let satan use us, we become his pawn, his possession, and wind up in the snare of lies which pave the way to hell. Who's the loser? We are? And even though we're alerted to the traps and snares of the devil, we keep right on that same road, continuing to make the same mistakes. We just don't learn. It's time for a wake-up call!

Many believe that "call" is imminent in the Warning. When? We don't know, but the times and signs point to very, very soon. Not only from all the signs of nature in which, over the past few years, have recorded floods, earthquakes, droughts, heat waves and cold spells of biblical proportions, but also in our very own Church where all kinds of abberations are going on all in the name of "liturgy." There are so many pastors who are letting liberal pastoral councils ramrod through new rites and experiments that basically make the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass illicit. Too many pastors are afraid to stand up for all the Roman Catholic Faith stands for. They're afraid to "rock the boat," to "make waves" lest they lose the support of the precious dollar or offend anyone.

Since when does it say the priests and bishops must be politically correct? It doesn't. It says in Psalms 110: 4 and Hebrews 5: 6 that they are to be "a priest forever according to the order of Melchisedec." The Apostle Saint Paul further says in Hebrews 5: 1-5, "For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in the things pertaining to God, that he may offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to have compassion on the ignorant and erring, because he himself also is beset with weakness, and by reason thereof is obliged to offer for sins, as on behalf of the people, so also for himself. And no man takes the honor to himself; he takes it who is called by God as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself with the high priesthood..." And no priest, bishop, religious or lay person for that matter should glorify themselves or their position either! We are all sinners. But the priests need to stand up in the pulpit and tell their flock what sin is and the penalties of sin. They can't sugar coat the dogmas, doctrines and catechism of the Church by saying God is a God of love and it's okay under certain circumstances. Wrong! God is also a God of Mercy and Justice and what is happening in our churches is an abomination before the Almighty! Sadly the Sacrament of Confirmation, by which, through the grace of God, we are made soldiers of Christ - beacons of His Light in a suffering, sinful world has seemingly lost its meaning? Soldiers of Christ...soldiers...to "fight" the good fight, to defend our faith, to defend God against His enemies; that is the essence of the Sacrament of Confirmation - to strengthen us. But so many have forgotten this strength and because of that have become weak and vulnerable.

Since when does this beautiful sacrament give way to the vast number of Catholics figuratively dipping their collective hands into the waterbowl of Pontius Pilate, washing away the graces of God that would make us His soldiers in the battle for eternal life?

Since when does any pastor at any Roman Catholic church abdicate his position of shepherd, turning the affairs of the Church, particularly those of faith and morals and the rubrics, to lay people while he sits back and remains mute, deaf and dumb to the cries of the few who seek to obey God and be faithful to the True Faith? There are too many lay persons with a string of academic letters after his or her name who intimidate not only the pastors but also the parishioners. It has become so absurd as to make that string of academic letters nothing more than a noose by which faith is strangled, the hope squeezed out of one's soul, and love lowered to the human passions, and all for the sake of political correctness and the almighty dollar.

Since when did we become "god" and God became a symbol of the "universal collective conscience?" How quickly we believe the lie, abandon the truth, and seek for a lifestyle that is geared to God knows what! Is it now hip to be tolerant of every evil, condoning it lest we "offend" our brother or sister? We think not!!!

Since when do parish schools care more about federal funding, "total catholic education" (a catch-all phrase for an agenda contrary to Rome), sharing "other beliefs" in the same tone as if they were to be equated with the Catholic Faith that is supposed to be taught in these schools? When, on God's earth, did the education of our Catholic youth become so prohibitive that only the "rich" could send their child to a Catholic school, while the rest were "forced" into secular education, and the dilemna of CCD classes, taught too often by those who, for the last 30 years, have compromised and have lost sight of all the tenets of the True Doctrine because the lies sound so much easier to follow and accommodate in this modern world in which we live? Wake up, fellow Catholics, it's time to take our Church back! It's time to harken to Christ's words in Luke 11: 28, "Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it." Ah, there's the rub: "keep it."

Why is it that too many priests and bishops are so afraid to stand up for the Truth anymore? Why do they privately say, "Oh yes, I believe in this teaching, or that teaching." They say they believe in the message of the Mother of God at Fatima, at LaSalette, at Akita, perhaps even Medjugorje or others, and then, in public, play the mute who has no opinion, no words of "wisdom" for the sheep he is supposed to be shepherding. Since when did the Catholic Church put so much emphasis on the "money" of education, high academic standards and technology while minimizing, even distinguishing the very reason they were begun in the first place - to teach the faith to God's children without concern for race, culture or financial status? Mother Saint Elizabeth Seton has to be shedding quite a few tears over the state of Catholic education today.

We know Our Lady surely is. She weeps because we have become so hard-hearted, so immune to God's call. No wonder vocations are down. No longer are the role models out in the forefront where young people could see priests and nuns, religious persons who were proud of the "uniform" of the Church, discarding the things of the world for the austerity of God's way which is the only way. In the second clarion of this "Wake-up Call" we will delve into this and why the clergy and religious have abandoned their ways that were so successful in the past.
