WHERE IS HOLY MOTHER CHURCH HEADING AS WE NEAR THE MILLENNIUM?

Beware of False Prophets in the American Church - part five

The great Christian satirist C.S. Lewis wrote in his Screwtape Letters how satan would infiltrate the Church. Lewis employed fictional characters Screwtape, the master demon, and Wormwood who was the master's pupil. Screwtape revealed that departmentalism and differences would weaken Christianity: "If they must be Christians, let them at least be Christians with a difference. Substitute for the faith itself some fashion with a Christian coloring. Work on their horror of the Same Old Thing. The horror of the Same Old Thing is one of the most valuable passions we have produced in the human heart - an endless source of heresies in religion, folly in counsel, infidelity in marriage, and inconstancy in friendship..."

That is the method the radical groups Call To Action and We Are Church are trying to implement in changing Holy Mother Church to their image and likeness. Researcher Brian Clowes who is working on a detailed expose of these groups writes, "If professional dissenters manage to enact their proposed Church 'constitutions' and 'charters,' every parish and every diocese will be different in its liturgies, practices and beliefs. The Catholic (universal) Church will be reduced from uniform belief to an unruly riot of creeds, thereby fatally injuring its mark of universality." Clowes pinpoints the problem when he explains, "The dissenters use two main methods by which they hope to mold every parish into a reflection of its members and their opinions instead of a mirror of the Truth of Christ: (1) a complete redesign of the Sacred Liturgy, and (2) the imposing of 'constitutions' down to the parish level."

We know the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the focal point of our lives in which we are nourished spiritually both with the Word and with the bread and wine which, confected by the priest at the Consecration, become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, Soul and Divinity. Therefore the radicals' target is the Mass. We can see over the past thirty years how they have made inroads taking the Novus Ordo and making it something very few Vatican II Council Fathers would recognize. How many have seen in their own parishes the emphasis of social, horizontal worship with a de-emphasis on vertical worship to God. More time is spent on holding hands during the Our Father and then making a circus of the Kiss of Peace than is spent on the knees during the Consecration and Communion. In fact, if many of these liturgists have their way, the kneelers could soon become a thing of the past. This is nothing new for the Apostle Saint Paul recognized this and exposed the perpetrators in the passage of Romans 1: 18-32 on idolatry. Pope John Paul II also recognized this and exposed it in his Apostolic Exhortation Familiaris Consortio, "History is not simply a fixed progression towards what is better, but rather an event of freedom, and even a struggle between freedoms that are in mutual conflict, a conflict between two loves: the love of God to the point of disregarding self, and the love of self to the point of disregarding God."

As we file this article the movie trilogy Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi is being released. At the same time the Vatican is about to release a response to the dissenting theologians. It might be called,Stay Wars, Rome Strikes Back and Return to Jesus. It's about time Rome spoke out. Not that the dissenters will listen. They haven't yet and from all indications, no matter what the Holy Father says, they'll continue their own course, Rome be damned!

Do we see a pattern here with the liberal dissenters? For thirty years they have been trying to unbalance the scale, so to speak by throwing all their weight towards the laity and more and more effecting constitutions that diminish the role of the hierarchy. Clowes exposes their thinking, "It doesn't really matter to them that they'll lose a primary source of God's grace, because they truly believe the New Age dogma that "god" is in all of us, and that we humans are the source of all holiness." That, however is not the greatest danger. The greatest danger is that the faithful will just sit back and let the radicals do it. Already outlandish practices are going on and very few bishops are cracking down, but let the account of an apparition occur in their diocese and they are quick to distance themselves from something so bizarre!

In the next installment we shall detail the accounts of one of the leading feminists and the outrageous forum she proposes. You wouldn't believe it could happen in the Roman Catholic Church!
