Part Forty:

Wake-up Call to all Catholics - the sixteenth clarion

Beware of False Prophets in the American Church - part four

We have been discussing, over these past several issues, the radical elements within the Church which have sought to disrupt the True Church, twisting their beliefs to fit their agendas. Two of these organizations are Call To Action and We Are Church, both misnomers in the strictest sense. One common thread to both is that, as much as they quote Vatican II, with no firm backing of documents we might add, they reject any issue of Vatican II that doesn't suit their purpose. For over thirty years Catholics have been told the worn-out phrase, "Vatican II changed that." How many times did we verify if what they were telling us was true. Sadly, not very often. Truth-be-told, when one reads the conciliar and post conciliar Vatican II documents compiled by Fr. Austin Flannery, O.P> one realizes very little was changed. Yet, we are bombarded with change in the name of Vatican II. Where does this come from if not the Church? Pope Paul VI said it best, when, on his deathbed, he warned: "Satan is in the sanctuary."

When you think about the sanctuary before Vatican II in pre-Vatican II times with the Latin or Tridentine Mass, the Tabernacle, which holds the Most Holy of Holies - The Blessed Eucharist which is Jesus Christ, Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, was placed directly in the center of the sanctuary on the altar with the priest facing God while offering sacrifice on behalf of the people - the unbloody sacrifice of the Lamb of God. Today very few tabernacles still reside in the center of the sanctuary, let alone off to the side. Many have been buried in the back, in a side room or basement; others placed in a side chapel. Many of the altars in the old churches remained mainly because they were too expensive or too heavy to move. But as new churches were built the altars were gone. In lieu of the back altars was placed a table to emphasize the meal aspect of the Mass and de-emphasize the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass concept. Worse yet, where the Tabernacles used to reside, now rest the sedalia or the celebrant's chair with the servers' chairs flanking him. In a word, man has replaced God!

This was all one insidious plot concocted by satan himself and, sadly, he has been successful. But he's not done. Through his pawns the CTA and WAC, more radical changes are in store. They stress Pope John XXIII's encyclical "Gaudium et Spes" while discarding all other encyclicals. In essence they want to accept the world's standards of relativism, self-centeredness, selfishness and materialism. Relativism is the danger Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger constantly warns the faithful against. They believe that rather than they changing and conforming to Christ's True Church, the Church should conform to them. They want to change the definition of the Church, how she is governed, how to worship as well as changing dogmas, doctrines and teachings to conform to the world's view. Christ's words in John 15:19 strongly refute this, "If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before you. If you were of the world, the world would love what is its own. But because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."

One of the trademarks of those who are members of CTA or WAC is that they preach tolerance for all who would agree with their right to dictate to the Church, but when conservative Catholics stand up for the the integrity and teaching of the Church, they are chastised by the CTA and WAC for not being "players," for for disrupting "unity." That word "unity" is such a crock, for priests and liturgical commissions will push forward liturgical aberrations such as standing during the Consecration and Holy Communion claiming "we all do it so there will be unity." Hell is filled with a lot of folks who pushed unity for the sake of unity while forsaking the Will of God. Doesn't Isaiah 45: 23 demand kneeling? Doesn't Romans 14: 11 say, "for it is written, 'As I live, says the Lord, to Me every knee shall bend, and every tongue shall give praise to God.'" and Philippians 2: 10, "At the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in Heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father." Yet, for the sake of contributing to the liberal agenda, we must pursue "unity" and God's word be damned!

One of the major problems here in America is the indoctrination of democracy and the American system. They forget the Roman Catholic Church, 1800 years older, is not a democracy but a hierarchy. The American constitution was formed by a group of men who made the decision; the Church was founded by one Man Who delegated His authority on Peter and his successors - the popes down through the ages. Yet the progressives don't realize this or don't want to, opting instead to dissect all of the Holy Father's teachings and pass judgment as "liberated theologians" who have lost touch with the purpose of their vocation and the essence of the Church. These theologians have set themselves up as the "Church's Supreme Court," as one e-mailer wrote, to judge whether something should be believed...in their opinion. The intelligentia deem their authority greater than those the Church has set in place...and American Catholics seem to be buying it because so many bishops are either going along with it or burying their heads in the sand. Loyal bishops like Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, Archbishop Charles Chaput, Bishop John Myers, and Bishop James McHugh have spoken out, but few others are willing to make a stand. When these loyal prelates have spoken they have been met with resistance from their fellow bishops for "rocking the boat." A good example was the proclamation by Bishop Bruskewitz on the threatened excommunication of members of CTA and WAC in his diocese of LIncoln, Nebraska. He followed Canon 1347 in warning the offenders before imposing censure. Yet, the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin railed against his fellow bishop over this, gaining the applause and stronger support from the radicals. He forgot Canon 1364 which states: "With due regard for canon 194, p1,n.2, an apostate from the faith, a heretic or a schismatic incurs automatic (latae sententiae) excommunication..." It has been proven CTA and WAC profess heresies. Ergo, they are, according to Church law, already excommunicated! Why then would a cardinal defend these apostates? Could it be because he secretly was fostering the same ideology and had intended to further it through the smoke screen of his "Catholic Common Ground" initiative? Though we suspect that was the motive, we shall never truly know the entire truth for death claimed the cardinal in late 1996.

In the next installment we shall continue this discussion as we delve further into the facades CTA and WAC mask themselves with in sounding the seventeenth clarion on the false prophets in the American Church.
