In the primitive Church the concept of the Christian sinner reconciled by the authority of the Church did not exist. Only very slowly did the Church accustom herself to this concept. As a matter of fact, even after Penance was recognized as an institution of the Church, it was not called a Sacrament since it would be held as a disgraceful Sacrament.
Again, where is the documentation to prove what the Modernists say has any credibility whatsoever? None! Where do they get such nonsense? How can a sacrament, an outward sign instituted by God that gives grace ever, ever be held as "disgraceful"? That right there should be a redflag to all as to the contradiction these Modernists spew. Do they really think before opening their mouths? One really has to wonder, and yet we know very well that what comes out of their mouths is dictated by the master ventriloquist from below. That would be the prince of darkness. Notice the wording Modernists use, "accustom herself to this concept." Concept? A sacrament is not a concept, but a definitive outward sign - a divinely-ordained vehicle for conveying grace of itself. "Even when a priest or person administering the sacrament is unworthy, as long as the recipient has the proper disposition, it is valid" as Bishop Laravoire Morrow states in My Catholic Faith. This is why a pagan can baptize as long as he or she use the proper form and matter. And that is the rub as to why the Novus Ordo is invalid and the sacraments that Paul VI dared to change, gravely mortally violating his Sacred Pontifical Oath. The form, and often the matter, have been altered. But back to the Sacrament of Penance. Do we have to remind these yelping yahoos Who instituted this Sacrament? Go to Christ's infrangible words in St. John 20: 21-23 and St. Matthew 16: 19, and don't forget to check St. Luke 13: 5 and 1 John 2: 1. One final thought for these clueless cads: If the Sacrament of Penance remits the guilt of sins, which it does, then all sins can be forgiven in the Sacred Tribunal of the Confessional. St. John says in I John 8-10 that no matter the gravity of the sin, if we are truly penitent with a resolve to amend our lives and strive to live in grace that "If we say that we have no sin: we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins: He is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity. If we say that we have not sinned: we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." Indeed, how could such a sacrament which cleanses us of our sins ever be called a "concept" or worse, "disgraceful"? That statement by the Modernists is what is truly disgraceful!
