The fourth Gospel exaggerated miracles not only in order that the extraordinary might stand out but also in order that it might become more suitable for showing forth the work and glory of the Word lncarnate.
Well, duh! Isn't this one of the arguments that anathematizes the Novus Ordo Mess? Of course, for the readings treating these very miracles were removed from the 'lectionary' of the New Mess. Can't have that in the counterfeit conciliar church or it'd make people think, possibly anger Protestants. It would surely anger Abe Foxman and his ilk of hate mongers. Can't have political correctness if one is going to believe in the possibility, probability and assurance that miracles were performed by our Lord. After all, He's God! If God can't perform miracles, no one can. The truth is that Christ's miracles manifested a tremendous compassion and love for man. He cured the lepers, healed the blind, the deaf, the lame. He brought Lazarus back to life after three days rotting in the sepulcher. But as now, so also then the majority refused to go on faith. What? Were they from Missouri? Shouting "show me!" to our Lord. Oh, what a hardened, unbelieving people who would not heed His words even after He performed these miracles. St. John exaggerated nothing. It is the Modernist revisionists who are doing the exaggerating, beginning by thinking they can be saved without the sacramental graces of the true sacraments.
