If he wishes to apply himself usefully to Biblical studies, the exegete must first put aside all preconceived opinions about the supernatural origin of Sacred Scripture and interpret it the same as any other merely human document.
      This is the great heresy that permeated the periti before Vatican II and saturated the Council like a poison that infected the whole. Man cannot "interpret" the Scriptures, but rather discerns the Word of God from what the Apostles, Fathers of the Church, Doctors and holy Popes have discerned through the grace of the Holy Ghost. One of the very reasons there are over 34,000 non-Catholic denominations today is because of the liberality of trying to change infrangible truths to justify and condone their own interpretation of what they think God wants, gaged on their own fallible opinions and influenced by the times. God does not change. His truths are unchangeable yesterday, today and forever.
