Et tu Brute! Beware the Ides of March!

Ah yes, this weekend is the occasion of the Ides of March which falls concurrently on the Third Sunday of Lent this year. All know that it was on the Ides of March Julius Caesar was ambushed in the Senate by his "dear and honorable friend" Brutus and there, abetted by a mob of others, stabbed to death. In today's editorial we do a take on Marc Antony's famous soliloquy from William Shakespeare's famous "Julius Caesar", except we change the characters to better hit home on the fact that to disregard God's Will is akin to joining Brutus, as the Iscariot did nearly 2000 years ago for a mere thirty pieces of silver. Beware the Ides of March!

In commemoration of the Ides of March and true to our purpose here, and with apologies to William Shakespeare, we present our take on the soliloquy by Marc Antony in the work "Julius Caesar" who was of course done in by his "good and honorable friend" Brutus. Here we substitute Judas for the latter, and put the true Divine One in the place of Caesar. For half a century after the Roman ruler was done in, a New Ruler came on the scene - One Who would rule forever in Eternity and in our hearts. But 2000 years later so many have forgotten, have denigrated the greatness of this Son of Man, forgetting all He promised and favor those of the world who seek to annihilate His memory and all He bequeathed to mankind.      The Ides of March bodes the warning knell to all that the evil one's time is growing short as is the promised Era of Peace - the New Advent - the glorious Reign of the Sacred Heart - a time ushered in by the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart when satan will be bound and chained by the prayers and good deeds of all who stay the course. For those who wander, for those who neglect God's warning, for those who the world, not God, perceives as honorable men: Beware the Ides of March!

Beware of complacency! The Son suffers alone in the Garden as Judas plots against Him. What about us?

That is what Our Lady asks us in her meditation in Meditative Lesson 6, on IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE where she shares what her Divine Son felt and how Divine Will can overcome the weakness of human will. These meditative lessons, imparted by Our Lady to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart during Lent of 1993 and are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the season of Lent in helping us all prepare for His Passion and Death, and ultimately the glorious Resurrection. These lessons help us realize that through our faithfulness to God, we can offset all that Judas did and fulfill the Divine Will. Click on "IT IS CONSUMMATED!"

Meditative Lesson 6:

part three Our Lady's Meditation

My little children, I have given you through my Hidden One, this vision, this interior look into the Agony my Divine Son endured for you. At the moment of His Agony, He saw each of you individually. He called each of you by name and He shed His blood even then for you, who are His children, the sheep of His flock.

I ask each of you to pray, meditate and contemplate upon this moment in my Divine Son’s Passion. I ask each of you to be humble, grateful children who acknowledge their sins and yet with repentant hearts offer thanks to God for all He has done.

My Little Ones, in God’s perfect plan of salvation He Who is Eternal has known you; He has known your name. He has known your sins, and He has seen you grow in virtue and holiness. Thus, for each of you, had The Father so willed, my Divine Son would have suffered His Passion over and over to satisfy for the sins of each soul. That is just a small taste of how greatly you are loved and cherished.

Dear children, I suffered in my own Immaculate Heart each and every wound given to my Son. And as the Mother of God, I bowed humbly before the throne of God and prayed for each soul. I begged for mercy, for strength, for comfort to come to all of my children that my Divine Son’s hideous torture and death might be for you the anchor of faith, the bulwark of your hope, and the leaven to your love.

Now has the moment come when each of you, my little children, must be strong in your faith! Now you must call upon God in ceaseless prayer and know His help shall always guide you.

My Little Ones, I ask each one of you to examine your lives and to acknowledge which path you have chosen of your own free will. Are you among the dead, dying souls which like countless embers fall into satan’s abyss? Are you there among all the Heavenly Host forever giving praise and glory to God?

Little children, give my Son your heart and recognize that you are nothing. He is all. Then seek only the Divine Will and work for this no matter the cost. Has not my Divine Son already paid the highest price? Why then should you be mindful of your own sufferings, why should you complain if in your earthly exile human comforts do not abound?

Only in the age which is yet to come—when my Immaculate Heart triumphs—will there be one Body as God always intended. By your faithfulness to my Son and your unity with Him in His Passion shall the triumph be hastened, and the evil one be forever case and bound in hell.

Work hard, my children. Pray much. Be examples for all people of all my Son did and continues to do for His Little Ones, before the hour of justice strikes.

Contemplate that already your world has had its ‘silent’ agony. Now the world climbs Calvary, and so very few are prepared. So many do not care.

Pray and be with my Son in His silent agony of bloody sweat. He will comfort you Himself if only you surrender to Him completely.

Beware of El Nino

No sooner had Sister Mary Lucy Astuto written last week about the fury of El Nino and winter weather then her region of Nebraska got hit hard. This weekend she shares the experience and reminds us that only through prayer can we thaw cold hearts and hope for protection from the elements. For her column, El Nino dropped in unannounced!, click on GETTING TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER

El Nino finally visited us last weekend. I had wondered when our turn would come, and the first visit arrived. I say "first visit" because I think it would be foolish to assume that there will be no more arrivals.

Last weekend Omaha, NE received 12 inches of snow with high winds up to 40 mph. Those high winds were what created real trouble for us, for they blew drifts from 3 to 12 feet high in certain areas.

Then cold temperatures arrived with a real blast. For the first time all winter, temperatures got into the single digits and below zero, as well. Last night, as a matter of fact, temperatures were supposed to reach 10 below.

Oh, it is not unusual for Nebraska to have even 20 degree below zero for a few days during the winter, so I am not saying that our snow and cold has not been experienced here before.

What DOES make this all unusual, however, is the fact that such snow and such temperatures are very unusual for the month of March.

I had told several people last week, that we should be grateful for the winter we had had because it had been very mild by usual comparison. Then the el-biggo storm hit and we were forced to remember the warmer days of this winter. I recalled as well that until last weekend, I had worn my spring coat all winter.

Meteorologists did attribute the Omaha storm to El Nino, so relying on their expertise, I contend that we have received our first visit from "Him."

I shoveled for two days to get my car out of the drifts, and then helped two neighbors shovel out their cars. I hope I’ve lost a few pounds in the ordeal.

As I shoveled I thought how this would be only PART of our El Nino experiences. Omaha is in tornado alley and frankly, I would not be surprised if other “visits” would be in the form of tornadic winds.

I’m not complaining and I realize that other people so far have had it far worse than we have to date. People are losing their homes to mud slides, floods, and tornadoes.

Our Blessed Mother has been foretelling serious times for us. We must take her seriously and live her messages of peace, prayer, Faith, fasting and conversion.

If every Catholic in the United States alone were to go to confession at least once a month, pray one rosary a day and genuinely try harder to keep God’s Commandments, I am certain that very, VERY serious devastations to our country can be thwarted.

If Our Lady has been appearing all over the world as reported (and I believe she has), she is not coming for fun and games. It is serious and we must take her seriously.

I pray the rest of your Lent will be holier than ever and that you will take God and His Mother...our Mother seriously.

      Peace and God bless you!

Beware and Prepare during Lent

Lent is the time to prepare and as we gradually reach mid-Lent, it is a time to beware of forsaking our Lenten resolutions, of letting up our guard and allowing satan to take control. The readings over the four days from March 13 to March 16 help us keep our eye on the Prize, help us concentrate on steering straight ahead reminding us to always be aware of the traps that the evil one lays for us. Today's prayer isa prayer given an Imprimatur by Bishop Richard H. Ackerman of Covington, Kentucky twenty five years ago. It is the PRAYER TO DEFEAT THE WORK OF SATAN taken from the "Pieta Prayer Booklet."

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with Your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit, and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we beg You to destroy the Power of Your greatest enemy - the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell and chain them there forever! Take possession of Your Kingdom which You have created and which is rightfully Yours.

Heavenly Father, give us the Reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

We repeat this prayer out of pure love for You with every beat of our hearts and with every breath we take. Amen
