This weekend is the perfect time to renew those resolutions
The first editorial for 1998 deals with resolutions. Not the typical "New Years Resolutions" we keep breaking, but the ones the Blessed Mother has been pleading for us to keep: Prayer, Conversion, Fasting, Penance and frequent participation in the Sacraments...the same resolutions she has been repeating over and over in Medjugorje for sixteen and a half years. It's later than you think!
Many think we have two years to go because they're gaging everything by the millennium, but in reality, folks, we've only got one year when you consider the evidence. By now most who have made new year's resolutions have already faltered. That's the nature of the beast, but the beast we need to worry about is the one who will do anything to prevent us from keeping the resolutions we truly need to keep. That would be satan and the resolutions he is so dead-set against are the ones the Blessed Mother is pleading with us to keep: Commitment to God and conversion to Him through Faith, Prayer, Fasting and Penance, and frequenting the Sacraments as often as possible. These Our Lady has been asking of her children for well over sixteen and a half years at Medjugorje and these resolutions are essential not only for us but our fellow man.
We have just entered the most pivotal year of the this millennium. What events that transpire throughout this coming year are contingent on our adhering to these Heavenly resolutions. Sounds like quite a responsibility but remember the Words of Jesus in Luke 12: 48, "But of everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and of him to whom they have entrusted much, they will demand more." If you are a committed Catholic, you have been given much - your life, your breath, your Faith. Therefore, much more is required of you and God demands it. It's up to us to hunker down in prayer and fasting for the reparation of so many sins against the Almighty. If we do this sincerely and from the heart, do you think God will abandon us? Do you not think there's a chance for mitigation for some of the things that cry out to God for justice? God has promised His people He would not abandon us. He has promised He would spare the sinful cities and people if there were a remnant of just souls. The case of Abraham vs. Sodom and Gomorrah verify this. Though Our Lady has said often that these times are worse than even Sodom and Gomorrah, she has also confirmed that there are enough just souls to mitigate much, but she pleads for more as she begs her Divine Son and the Father not to wield His justice yet. The Mother of God, Queen of Prophets is asking for more time. Will God grant it? That's up to us for our good works and complete dedication to God's Holy Will become Our Lady's arms, her legs, her lips, her ears and her eyes in order to totally fulfill all that God deigns. We can make a difference. But we can't put it off. We can't say, "Oh, yeah, I'll convert next week or next month or next year." We can't even presume to procrastinate until tomorrow. We have to act NOW!
Why? Because Heaven has directed us thusly; not only in the countless messages from Our Lady through the years at Rue de Bac, Lourdes, LaSalette, Fatima, Garabandal, Medjugorje, Akita, Betania and numerous other sites on every continent, but also in Sacred Scripture and the saints. We offer as evidence Father Don Stefano Gobbi's powerful messages, especially the one at Lourdes in September 1988 when she imparted to the locutionist priest from Italy the message about the next ten years..."ten decisive years" in which all that she has foretold will come to pass and that the apostasy within the Church will come to full head as the carbuncle of heresy oozes forth. This year marks the end of those "ten decisive years." Many say, yeah, but that's not approved by the Church so why should we believe? You don't have to, but consider the alternative. What if you don't listen, don't believe and don't act. Where will you be? What can it hurt to do as Our Lady asks? All she asks is in total accord with Holy Mother Church and all Divine Revelation! Consider, if you will, another prophecy by a recent saint. That saint is Saint John Bosco who received the prophetic vision of the barque of Peter guided by the two pillars - one representing the Holy Eucharist, the other the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In this vision St. John wrote, "There will be chaos in the Church. Tranquility will not return until the Pope succeeds in anchoring the boat of Peter between the twin pillars of Eucharistic Devotion and devotion to Our Lady. This will come about one year before the end of the twentieth century." This was given to the young saint well over a hundred years ago. Do the math, we are one year away from this time. Look at our present pontiff, the great John Paul II who is doing all he can to anchor the barque of Peter between these twin pillars. No pope in modern time has been more of a proponent of devotion to Our Lady and he does all he can to foster Eucharistic Devotion. He is also aware of the chaos in the Church and knows more than we do. To question this wise and holy man during these pivotal months in any way is not wise. Nor is it prudent. Trust totally in him for he is guided directly by the Holy Spirit Who also yearns to guide each of us in the same way. The only way we can accomplish this union is by heeding the Blessed Virgin's call to resolve to amend our ways and give our fiat totally to her Divine Son by living the messages fully. That must be our only resolution for 1998. If we can keep that resolution, we'll have it made no matter what comes down in the world or what ol' hornhead throws at us. It takes commitment to the cause. Are you willing to commit? The new year's already begun. Times a wastin! It's later than you think!

PRAYERS & DEVOTION
God's holy day has dawned for us at last; come and adore the Lord. Today the Bridegroom claims His bride, His Church since Christ has washed her sins away in Jordan's waters' the Magi hasten with their gifts to the royal wedding; and the wedding guests rejoice, for Christ has changed water into wine, alleluia. God's holy day has dawned for us at last; come and adore the Lord.
Medjugorje Monthly Message for December 25th
Dear children! Also today I rejoice with you and I call you to the good. I desire that each of you reflect and carry peace in your heart and say: I want God in the first place in my life. In this way, little children, each of you will become holy. Little children, tell everyone, I want the good for you and he will respond with the good and, little children, good will come to dwell in the heart of each man. Little children, tonight I bring to you the good of my Son Who gave His life to save you. That is why, little children, rejoice and extend your hands to Jesus Who is only good. Thank you for having responded to my call!

The Essence of the
A Call To Peace from
the Queen of Peace
According to the testimony of the visionaries in
Medjugorje, Our Lady introduced herself: "I am the
Queen of Peace" Mary is calling all of humanity to
PEACE, PEACE, PEACE - for it is necessary to save all
humanity. We have to begin by first creating peace
within our hearts, then in our families and then in this
war-threatened world. This can be done in the following
COMMITMENT TO GOD
Turn to Him and communicate with Him. He is
our Eternal Father. Let Him rule your life. Begin
by turning away from sin.
Through our trust in the Lord and our total belief
that Mary is the Mother of all God's children on
earth. Faith is our lifeline to God. So live it.
Our Lady specifically calls for daily prayer
consisting of the Apostles' Creed, 7 Our Father's, 7
Hail Mary's, and 7 Glory Be's which incorporate the
"Peace Rosary"; then the whole Rosary and, if
possible, all 15 Decades meditating on the
Mysteries; daily reading of the Word of God in
Sacred Scripture; and personal communication
with God throughout our active daily duties and
during quiet time with your own special prayers
between you and God.
Mary asks us to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays
and, if possible, on only bread and water. If this is
unfeasible, then restraining from various activities
is encouraged so that we may begin to abandon
our worthless worldly values, denying the flesh,
the world, and the devil. These sacrifices will help
assure eternal bliss for ourselves and others.
Our Blessed Mother asks us to receive the Holy
Sacraments as often as possible. She requests
monthly Confession or even more frequently for the
Sacrament of Reconciliation and asks that we
worthily and reverently receive her Divine Son in
the Holy Eucharist as often as possible at the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass.
