Explosive situation in Kosovo. We owe it to God, our fellow man and ourselves to pray for those embroiled in the war there on both sides, especially the innocent civilians

In today's editorial we point to the essential need for peace. The exploding bombs will reach us all if we do not heed Christ's words to "Put away the sword". We look at the world situation and realize there are few who are truly willing to seek peace for it would compromise their own agendas, including all sides in Kosovo, Europe and the United States. It's time all learned not only from history, but also from Our Lord for we are what we reap and murder and violence is the mainstay in today's society. What does that tell us? Moved to motivate, Sixtus IV trips over mores of morale and morals as Rome sinks deeper into decadence

Once again a promising prospect to bring about necessary reform in the ecclesiastical ranks of Holy Mother Church greatly disappoints the faithful as Pope Sixtus IV, a life-long humble Franciscan devoted to reform, turns weak and proud. Sixtus chose the unwise route of nepotism, appointing a plethora of prelates whose agenda was to build their own nest of iniquity and use the papal powers to further their own ends at the expense of the faithful. Such was the climate towards the last three decades of the fifteenth century that would play a pivotal role in paving the path for the Protestant Reformation. Staying the Course!

A ball goes through an infielder's glove and he is humiliated. A pitcher walks ten runs in and the bases are still loaded, a team is in the throes of a terrible slump. All downers in baseball, but that is nothing compared to what Christ suffered for our sins during the horrific scourging as we vividly see in part three of Meditative Lesson 10: THE SCOURGING AND CROWNING WITH THORNS Christ's resolve to persevere should motivate us to hang in there no matter what the obstacles, no matter what our adversary below throws at us for we can be assured Jesus is always in the on-deck circle of our hearts and souls. These Meditative Lessons were imparted by Our Lord and Our Lady to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart during Lent of 1993, and are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the season of Lent in helping us all prepare for His Passion and Death, and ultimately the glorious Resurrection.
