Just before Saint Bernadette Soubirous, the visionary of Lourdes, died on April 16, 1979 at Nevers, France she wrote down five prophecies the Blessed Mother had given her and gave them to the new Holy Father Pope Leo XIII. Shortly before the turn of the century the five pages of prophecies were lost. It wasn't until just recently within this last year that they have been found and what they reveal ties in with all Our Lady has been imparting with a tremendous exclamation mark that may cause one to do cartwheels between prayers!!!      In the sixty-ninth installment of our megaseries on the state of the Church Today we trace the lay efforts of a few outstanding souls who mobilized the laity to help save Rome when first the French Revolution threatened to quash Catholicism and then the threat of terror from Napoleon Bonaparte in the early part of the nineteenth century. From these seeds would come great oaks of faith throughout France and many parts of Europe, solidifying the Church. Two woman, two Roman housewives blessed with the acceptance of God's Will - Blessed Elizabeth Mora and Blessed Anne Marie Taigi answered the call and together not only formed a prayer crusade but personally convinced Pope Pius VII that he was walking into a trap set by the ravenous wolves within the Vatican curia. Asian Synod closes on a positive note

     The Asian bishops closed the Asian Synod yesterday with a show of solidarity for their continent in pledging to work together towards bringing the faith to more souls in these very diversified lands and cultures that reach from the Holy Land to the Pacific shores of Japan. In a further display of unity they all decried the fact a few Chinese bishops were prevented from attending and listed the concerns for the Roman Catholic Church in China as high in priority prayer-wise. Vatican head of States touches on a plethora of topics globally

     The top diplomat for the Vatican Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, expressed concerns about numerous international issues from China to Cuba to the sagging mideast peace talks to the tenuous situation in Africa. Beyond it all he offered a solution to helping out the have-nots by labeling the United States as the "biggest in the family" and the one responsible for protecting the others. Insurance acceptance of Viagra creating Niagra-like flow of pro-aborts coming out of woodwork

     Pro-abort groups lambasted the fact that the newly hyped drug for men Viagra to cure impotence is being accepted by insurance companies while birth control is not. They have been lobbying pro-abort doctors and gynecologists to demand legislation allowing birth control as well. What they fail to realize is that the drug Viagra can enhance the chances of procreation while birth control kills any possibilities of life. Pro-life groups such as Judie Brown of the American Life League spoke out strongly against this latest protest by pro-abort advocates by indicating birth control is not an illness, while impotence is considered to be. Clinton sending up more double-speak on religious persecution bill

     Typical of the Clinton maneuvers, the administration threatened Congress that if the religious persecution bill, now on the floor, would pass it would not only drastically tie-up any chance to sanction nations, but encourage religious persecutions in more countries. But Republicans aren't buying the Prez' double-speak. Rather they claim this bill would provide fail-safe measures that would assure swifter sanctions if a country violated religious rights such as Sudan and China.
