     Today, on the day we publish volume nine, number nine, another number comes into vogue: it is the one hundred and forty fourth anniversary of when too many first heard Lady of Spain... over and over and over...and we're not talking about Our Lady. Rather a gentleman by the name of Anthony Foss patented the accordion and ears and nerves were never the same after that! Maybe that's where the phrase "Headache Number Nine" originated.

      The times of the late twelfth century would never be the same again after the death of the beloved Pope Gregory VIII, but the cardinals overcame their mourning to elect a pontiff with a weak, but big heart - Pope Clement III who would go down in vatican annals as the Holy Father who brought the papacy back to Rome after a sixty year exile. Meanwhile striving to be instrumental in dispatching the Third Crusade to recover Jerusalem, he sought accord among all Christian Europe.       With the flu epidemic spreading throughout the nation that is a popular, oft heard question. But in liturgical circles today the "Doctor" refers to one of the earliest Doctors of the Church - Saint Hilary, Bishop and Doctor from the early fourth century. Hilary was a staunch defender of the Faith, especially against the onslaughts of the virus known as Arianism.     Dear children! Also today I rejoice with you and I call you to the good. I desire that each of you reflect and carry peace in your heart and say: I want God in the first place in my life. In this way, little children, each of you will become holy. Vatican reassures world Pope is okay, only tired from hectic schedule

      As we reported in yesterday's issue, Pope John Paul II suffered mere dizziness - a temporary ailment that could happen to anyone with the dizzying schedule the Holy Father maintains. Yet despite his case of vertigo, the Pope made a statement to those who accuse him of being frail by officiating at the Baptism of nineteen children, exhorting the parents to be strong for these newly-received children of God. Vatican Officials so bugged by bug-in-the-room that papal trip nearly jeopardized

     What we reported in Monday's issue about the hidden microphone discovered in the quarters where the Holy Father is to stay in Cuba turns out that the incident came close to blowing out of proportion and nearly wiped out the Pope's plans to travel to Cuba in less than two weeks. A case for the X-Files!

     Once again Fox TV's mogul Rupert Murdoch is in the midst of controversy but it's not over Homer Simpson this time - duh. Rather it is with traditional Catholics over the aberration that he was presented a Vatican honor - railroaded in by certain pro-Hollywood Southern California influential Catholics and possibly LA's chief prelate. Joining a list of other notables the list sounded more like a who's who rather than service to the Church and greatly cheapened the award. It was a shame he had to be included with the likes of such dignitaries as Bob Hope and his wife Dolores Hope, a staunch Daily Communicant. Click on Fox to read more.
