Dear children! Today I invite you to come still closer to me through prayer. Little children, I am your mother, I love you and I desire that each of you be saved and thus be with me in Heaven. That is why, little children, pray, pray, pray until your life becomes prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Sister Nirmala, successor to Mother TeresaOne on one with Sister Nirmala as the successor to Mother Teresa continues on a myriad of subjects
Today we present the second of a special two part interview taken exclusively by Catholic World News in August in anticipation of the one-year anniversary of Mother Teresa's death on September 5th. The one on one interview was conducted by Rodolfo Bermejo for CWN in Calcutta in August this year. Because of this special two-part interview we will not carry "I SOLEMNLY TELL YOU..." today but will begin bringing you the messages from this feature on a daily basis Monday through Friday beginning this coming Monday. For the second part of the interview with Sister Nirmala, click on QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH SISTER NIRMALA.

As the shepherds dwindle and the sheep wander, we must stay close to our roots and realize Holy Mother Church is not a democracy!
The seat of Christianity - the seat of our salvation: Rome and St. Peter's Basilica     We continue with our retro look of the earliest chapters of our on-going megaseries on the Church today, bringing you the tenth installment in which we discuss the structure of the Church in respect to hierarchy and our obedience to the Magisterium in all things regarding Faith and Morals, Dogma, Doctrine and Teaching of the Holy Spirit. When should we be disobedient? Never! Yet there are priests and bishops who are being disobedient to the Holy Father and we discuss the fine line of what we, as loyal members of the Communion of Saints as part of the Militant Church need to do when confronted with controversy. Unlike Protestant churches, we cannot pick and choose what we want, but accept all the God has willed through His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. For the tenth installment entitled "Many are called, but few are chosen." , click on WHERE IS HOLY MOTHER CHURCH HEADING AS WE NEAR THE MILLENNIUM?.

Novena of Life     The Nine Day Novena for Life sponsored by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops continues with Day Three. The Novena stretches from the Vigil of the feast of the Birth of Mary to September 15 - the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. It is appropriate that these liturgical feasts fall during the same time Congress will once again consider the important legislation impacting the lives of unborn children in trying to rescind Clinton's veto of the ban on partial-birth abortion. Below is the daily prayer for the Novena for Life and click on NOVENA FOR LIFE:

God, come to my assistance. Lord, make haste to help me. (Glory Be).

Holy Mother of God, hear the prayers of the Church for all mothers, especially those wearied by life and overcome by the suffering they bear for their children. (Hail Mary).

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, intercede for them from your place in Heaven, that the mercy of your Divine Son might lighten their burden and give them strength. (Hail Mary, Glory Be).

While the Holy Spirit is fully present in the Church, He is also present in other faiths, but only partially.
Pope admits Holy Spirit and germs of truth present in other faiths, but not as fully and complete in the Catholic Church      In his regular Wednesday afternoon Papal Audience at Paul VI Hall, the Holy Father continued his treatise on the catechism and his year-long discussion on the Holy Spirit with the fact that God puts the "germs of truth" in all faiths and instinctively leaves man hungering for a greater understanding of the Almighty which opens the door for evangelizing the true Faith through missionary efforts. Naples Cardinal accused of Black Hand ties lashes out at Mafia
Cardinal Michele Giordano     Showing he is not the Mafia sympathizer as he had been accused of being, Cardinal Michele Giordano, prelate of Naples spoke out harshly toward Mafia tactics and violence that has left many intimidated and fearing for their lives - both young and old. The Cardinal pulled no punches in letting the Mafia leaders know that whatever tactics they use, God will ultimately judge them and that final judgment cannot be avoided. He called for all to put away their arms and seek peace. For more, click on Mafia Malevolence.

Holy Father encourages UN to uphold human rights as they convene for the fall session in New York
Cardinal John O'Connor delivers Pope's message to UNUnited Nations encouraged to uphold human rights      During a special ecumenical prayer service at Holy Family Church in New York City with Secretary General Kofi Annan in attendance, Cardinal John O'Connor delivered the Holy Father's personal message to the UN Assembly encouraging them to uphold the Human Rights agenda which they pledged to maintain fifty years ago when the organization was in its infancy. The message was intended for all UN principals as the General Assembly began their 53rd session today. The Pope urged that Human Rights be adopted universally with no exceptions to safeguard the fundamental values of life as God intended. For more, click on Papal Message to UN.

Another priest kidnapped in Filipino Muslim wars
Italian priest kidnapped by Islam forces in Philippines      The Muslim wars continue in the Philippines as rebels took hostage Father Lucia Benedetti into their mountain hideout along with eleven other Filipinos who were released but not the Italian missionary priest. It follows a pattern in which the Islam rebels have kidnapped and harassed other Catholic missionary padres including an Irish priest and a Belgian priest. The good news: both were released within two weeks. Still, the military is taking the kidnapping seriously, marshalling forces to comb the mountains for the rebel kidnappers.
