PRAYER & DEVOTIONS
Today's Preface of the Mass honors Saint Jerome:
Today we proclaim You wise and wonderful because You have revealed Your loving design by making Your Word known. Through Your graces St. Jerome penetrated Your Divine Revelation so profoundly that from this treasure he could dispense the old and the new wisdom, thus prompting us by his example to seek constantly in the sacred pages Christ, Your Living Word.

Today our Jewish friends observe the solemn feast of atonement known as|
We wish them the best and pray that they will use this time to seek peace in their hearts over all the controversy of the Holocaust and let go of their preconceived prejudices against Catholics, Pope Pius XII, Auschwitz and Croatia. We also pray that relations between Israel and the Holy See will strengthen as God so wills.
Confirmation of the Dogma decreed by Pope Pius IX four years earlier
Today we continue with the third part of one of the most important apparitions in the Age of Marian Apparitions. It remains today the most famous and most visited Marian shrine in the world, one which bring millions to the healing waters where countless documentation has been recorded regarding miraculous cures just as the Blessed Mother told Saint Bernadette Soubirous, the young peasant girl who God chose as the messenger to convey all Mary wanted the world to understand and to confirm Pope Pius IX's proclamation of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception four years earlier in 1854. Beware of the black hole of apostasy as the spiritual darkness tries to blot out the Light of Christ
That is what the Blessed Mother Mary warns us of in her messages to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, in which Our Lady strongly advises us to cling to the Light of her Divine Son to brighten our hopes amidst all the spiritual darkness that threatens to blot out the Light of Christ and the teachings of His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. She urges all to turn to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment and wash ourselves in the refreshing font of Divine Mercy for the time of Mercy is very, very short and soon the Justice will come. A Priceless Gift from the Father Even though we have been running a humor page in this section we feel there are some thought-provoking pieces that need to be shared and one person's humor may not always be anothers. Therefore, though we may still run some humorous passages on this page in the future, the majority of the time it will be these morsels of perception and contemplation that should make everyone think a little bit more of God's wonders. It may bring a chuckle at times, at other times a tear, and, we hope, always provide "food for thought." Hence the title which we incorporate with this month's traditional "Oktoberfest" and, playing on the word appetizer, we coin the word "Appeteasers." Today the tease we provide is an inspiring story of a father's love. Click on OKTOBERFEST FOOD FOR THOUGHT APPETEASERS

Holy Father gathers Eastern Patriarchs, urges greater dialogue with Orthodox brethren
The Holy Father met Tuesday with the five Patriarchs of their respective Eastern Churches which are in union with Rome - the Armenian, Chaldean, Coptic, Melkite and Maronite Churches and urged them to continue their traditions while fostering dialogue with their Orthodox brethren. He cited the loyalty of these five Eastern Churches as hope that those Eastern Churches outside communion with Rome can eventually return to the fold though the main sticking point remains, after almost a century, the supremacy of the Pope. Salvation through the Satellite
Translating one form of communication into another was the essence of the Holy Father's emphasis on utilizing the Media to take the word and turn it to the Word which he reinforced at the weekend seminar of communicators dedicated to using high-tech methods to foster evangelization within the Church. The Pope expressed appreciation that more interest is being given to stories of Old and New Testament in films and is hopeful Hollywood will use the talents they have been given to foster things that please God and the culture of life rather than the culture of death. Medjugorje Monthly Message for September 25th
Dear children! Today, I call you to become my witnesses by living
the faith of your fathers. Little children, you seek signs and
messages and do not see that, with every morning sunrise, God
calls you to convert and to return to the way of truth and salvation.
You speak much, little children, but you work little on your
conversion. That is why, convert and start to live my messages, not
with your words but with your life. In this way, little children, you
will have the strength to decide for the true conversion of the heart.
Thank you for having responded to my call
