We the people of the United States... 209th Birthday of the Constitution of the United States
Today marks the 209th year since the first Federal Congress convened in New York City in 1789 to officially put into effect the Constitution of the United States. Have the government and the people followed it faithfully? Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap. That is a question where grave doubts arise. Another kind of constitution is the one Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap., head of the Archdiocese of Denver and evolving as the true spokesman in the U. S. for all Holy Mother Church conveys. Today we begin the first of four installments, provided by Catholic World News Service, on his talk given to the Mile Hi Club in Denver in which he proposes a number of things, taking into account our culture and how to deal with it in THE TASK OF EVANGELIZATION IN SECULAR AMERICA. The Archbishop is genuinely concerned about "we the people of the United States." For the first of four consecutive installments, click on MITERS THAT MATTER order to form a more perfect union...
Father, into Thy hands I commend My Spirit [graphic by Chris Curd]     That perfect union between Father and Son was necessary for our salvation and Jesus had the most perfect union between Son and Mother as any human could. Union was what He sought to form with His dear friend Lazarus and the Holy Women who were so loyal to Him. Thus, before He would form the union of the Apostles through the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, He spent the last days at Lazarus' home as is illustrated in part one of Meditative Lesson 4: THE TIMELESS ROLES OF LAZARUS AND THE HOLY WOMEN. These lessons were imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart by Our Lord and His Blessed Mother during Lent of 1995. Now in Lent of 1998, we bring them to the reader in order to help us form a perfect union with Him. Click on "IT IS CONSUMMATED!"

The Apparitions of Garabandal...provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity...
The words of the Blessed Mother at Garabandal provide for our common defense and promote the general welfare of her faithful ones if we but heed what she is pleading with us to do. If we follow her advice, which comes directly from her Divine Son Jesus, then we can be assured of "securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." She has alerted us at Garabandal and since of the Warning - the "illumination of our souls" to be followed by the great Miracle in the pines which manifests God's Mercy and Love for all as we plan for the promised Reign of the Sacred Heart - the New Advent that our posterity will experience after the Millennium. For the fifty-eighth installment entitled - "For whom do the bells toll?" - part three, click on THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Nearly eighteen hundred years before the Constitution was established, another "constitution" was established by Christ which ensured we would be afforded all the protection and rights as His heirs. This is contained in the Word and the Traditions, and the Sacraments with the liturgy of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to assure His constitution with us here in the United States of America. Powerful rulers of the past have upheld these rights and duties of Catholics, such as Saint Casimir, Patron Saint of Poland, whose optional feast we celebrate today. For the readings, liturgy, meditation and vignettes today and tomorrow, click on LITURGY OF THE DAY

Today's prayer is the Opening Prayer commemorating Saint Casimir.
All-powerful God, to serve You is to reign: by the prayers of St. Casimir, help us to serve You in holiness and justice.

Medjugorje Monthly Message for February 25th

The Gospa     Dear children! Also today I am with you and I, again, call all of you to come closer to me through your prayers. In a special way, I call you to renunciation in this time of grace. Little children, meditate on and live, through your little sacrifices, the Passion and Death of Jesus for each of you. Only if you come closer to Jesus will you comprehend the immeasurable love He has for each of you. Through prayer and your renunciation you will become more open to the gift of faith and love towards the Church and the people who are around you. I love and bless you. Thank you for having responded to my call!

Holy Father in his annual retreat this weekPope to go face to face with Albright of U.S. in Rome
When he finishes his week-long retreat this week, Pope John Paul will meet with United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Iraq has to be at the top of both's list. The Madame secretary can be assured she won't get the same kind of reception she received two weeks ago in Columbus, Ohio when she was roundly booed and heckled, but she must also know the Pope will not be duped as so many Americans have been by this administration. Pope reminds Catholics of Humanae Vitae and need to be responsible parents
In a speech to those who promote Natural Family Planning, the Holy Father cautioned them to remember the purpose for marriage - procreation - and not to be selfish in their physical love for each other at the expense of being barren as a trade for worldly things. He re-emphasized the teachings of Holy Mother Church, asking them to keep God first in their lives. For more, click on Natural Family Planning to read more.
