Medjugorje Monthly Message

Countdown to the Millennium

Monthly Message for
May 25th

Outdoor altar behind St. James Church

Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Medjugorje where Our Lady has...been appearing for 17 years, converting millions...in following all her Divine Son asks
Though officially the 17th Anniversary of the Medjugorje Apparitions are tomorrow, today, the feast of the birth of Saint John the Baptist, is the 17th Anniversary when the Blessed Mother first appeared to the children on Podrbo - now known as "Apparition Hill." The reason for her coming has been made apparent over the years, resulting in the fruits of countless conversions of heart. Her timing coincided with her Divine Son's cousin's feast day to show the world that Mary has come to prepare the way of Jesus as we explain in the final part of this month-long special segment on Medjugorje entitled: Medjugorje: "Prepare the Way of the Lord". For the fourth part of this four parter, click on THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS.

The familiar voice of one crying in the Wilderness
Saint John the Baptist     Today is the solemnity of the birth of Saint John the Baptist, born six months before his cousin Jesus. John is the precursor, the one who goes before the Lord - the "set-up" man, if you will, to prepare the people for the Savior. So little is known of the childhood of Jesus and John but, being cousins, they had to have had a great relationship playing together and growing to adulthood. We can see the bond then from infancy to the pubic ministry and see the Almighty hand in this work of art He created through John's holy parents Elizabeth and Zachariah. What the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass truly means
In our second installment as part of our retro marathon week on the early chapters of our on-going megaseries on the Mass and Church History, we present the basics for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and its deep meaning as described by many experts and saints, entitled THE MEANING OF THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS. For the second installment, click on THE HISTORY OF THE MASS AND HOLY MOTHER CHURCH.

Sometimes our plans fail in order that God's plans for us might succeed.
Father John Hampsch, C.M.F.     That is the essence of the column by Father John Hampsch, C.M.F. today on "Annointed Faith . part two" in which he points out that there is no such thing as unanswered prayer. From our finite view we can't always see the logic or reasoning behind God's plan for us, but we need to have faith that His Will is best and subject our wills to His completely. Worldwide Catholic NewsWORLDWIDE

with a Catholic slant provided by Catholic World News Service
Good News and Bad News!!! - First the good news:
Pope tops poll for Poles in the 20th Century!
Pope John Paul II - Pole of the century      We already knew he was great, but a recent Polish survey confirmed it and we suspect many other surveys world-wide will eventually bear out the same findings - that Pope John Paul II is one of the greatest men of this century, or for many other centuries for that matter. A survey by an influential Warsaw political publication named the Holy Father the top Polish personality of the twentieth century. It was quite a coup considering the Pope's friend and popular solidarity leader Lech Walesa placed only sixth on the list. For more, click on Pope tops Pole Poll

Hope for Catholic East Timor: Indonesia to offer special status
Catholics demand independence for East Timor     Though many have clamored for independence and won't stop until they achieve it, B.J. Habibie, President of Indonesia is holding out the olive branch in a meeting today with Nobel Peace Prize recipient Bishop Carlos Belo of the East Timor Diocese. Special status is expected but many have a wait and see attitude to see how much independence Habibie is willing to grant to this largely Catholic country by a Muslim government. ...and now the bad new:

Signs the world is topsy-turvy and listing badly toward the culture of death.
From Alabama to New York to London signs point to a demoralization of values with the revelation by legislatures that God is passe in school, sterilization is rampantly being forced on those who want children and the Brits are making the homosexual lifestyle more accessible by lowering the age of consent for teens. Such is the sad state of affairs in a world gone awry and away from the values God intended. For more, click on Culture of death.

    Vatican-Israeli relations growing tenser!
Word out of the Vatican is that Israeli cooperation is practically nil in making Jerusalem accessible to pilgrims and the Holy See is greatly concerned because of eroding cooperation with Israeli authorities. This could impact the planned trip to Jerusalem for the Jubilee 2000 year which the Holy Father has expressed a deep desire to do in visiting all the places Jesus walked. In addition, the agreement signed by both parties guaranteeing legal status for the Church has not been ratified yet by the Israelis who are dragging their feet. For more, click on standstill.
