"Put on the armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil..."
The seat of Christianity - the seat of our salvation: Rome and St. Peter's Basilica     As part of our summer service to readers who may not have had the opportunity to read the earliest chapters of our on-going megaseries on the Church today, we repeat the early installments bringing you the third installment in which we speak of preparation in girding for battle with those forces that oppose Christ and His Holy Church. Without proper preparation through prayer and fasting, we will not be able to deflect the artillery of deceit, modern rationalization and worldly venues of the evil one. For the first installment, click on WHERE IS HOLY MOTHER CHURCH HEADING AS WE NEAR THE MILLENNIUM?.

Become flames of living prayer to illuminate the way for the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart
Queen of Prophets      That is the essence of the Blessed Mother Mary's words in her 169th and 170th messages to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, which we bring you today. Our Lady urges her children to use the tools we have been given to "Pray! Pray! Pray!" Only by praying and uniting as one can we work together against the wiles of the evil one and help expedite the glorious Triumph. Click on "I SOLEMNLY TELL YOU..."

Pope's Apostolic Letter Apostolos Suos to reign in power of Bishops' Conferences
Pope's Motu Proprio is answer to bishops' request      The Apostolic Letter Apostolos Suos, will officially be released today in response to the bishops' request for clarification as to the responsibilities of episcopal conferences. In his letter, considered a Motu Proprio, the Holy Father has set limits on the conferences to curb runaway jurisdiction that, by right, belongs to each individual bishop for his see. In addition, the Pope has emphasized that conferences cannot be given the same exalted status as synods which are governed by Canon Law. For more, click on Apostolic Letter.

Pope reminds all of universal call to sanctity as he calls for prayers and aid for victims of tidal wave
Holy Father laments tsunami victims      In a stop off between the Dolomite Mountains and his summer residence at Castel Gondolfo, the Holy Father reminded all that the grace of the Holy Spirit is not possible without obedience to the commandment of love. It was love that poured forth from Pope John Paul II as he lamented the terrible trajedies in Papua New Guinea as once again he called for prayers and aid to assist the devastation from the giant tsunami that has rendered that south sea island virtually helpless and homeless. For more, click on Pope's Audience.

October itinerary set for Pope's trip to Croatia
The Vatican released the official schedule for the Holy Father's three day trip to Croatia that will begin on the feast of the Guardian Angels and culminate on the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. He will beatify Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac as well as meet with Croatian head President Franjo Tudjman. For more, click on Croatia papal trip.

Battle looms in Senate over contraceptives
Senate liberals pushing for contraceptives      During the week Archbishop Chaput released a pastoral on the evils of birth control, the U.S. Senate has opened another pandora's box by making it that much tougher in the battle between pro-life and the culture of death by pushing for mandatory coverage of contraceptives by all insurance companies. For more, click on contraceptives.
