Growing extent of Bishops' activities raises questions in the realm of theological and pastoral concerns by the Holy Father in his Apostolic Letter Apostolos Suos|
We continue our seven part segment on the Holy Father's Apostolic Letter to the Bishops of the world on Episcopal Conferences entitled APOSTOLOS SUOS. In his Motu Proprio, Pope John Paul II asserts in no uncertain terms that all bishops must be in union with Rome and their particular conferences and cannot go out on their own without full approval from the Holy See. He cites the way Jesus set up His Church and appointment of His apostles and lists policies established by the Church over the centuries. For the second part, click on THE VICAR OF CHRIST SPEAKS.
When we imitate Mary in her humility, we disarm
satan of his power to control us.
In his seventh and final part on The subtleties of satan in his weekly column, Father Stephen Valenta, OFM Conv. points out the vital role of the Woman clothed with the sun - the Blessed Virgin Mary and how, relying on her through prayer and exemplifying all she imparts by living her messages then we imitate Our Lady's virtues and can better fend off the evil one because we are doing what her Divine Son Jesus asks of each of His children. Vatican gets tough over Italian authorities' treatment in investigation of Cardinal of Naples
The Holy See took off the gloves this past Thursday when they ordered the Italian ambassador to the Vatican to answer some pointed questions. It was a fitting twist as the Vatican went on the offensive, putting Italian government officials on the hotseat for their outright violation of the concordat signed between Italy and the Vatican. Justification for Founder of Opus Dei as Pope declares University of the Holy Cross a Pontifical University
Fulfilling a vision Blessed Josemaria Escriva had regarding his university in Rome, the Holy Father officially made the University of the Holy Cross, run by the Opus Dei Society, the sixth Pontifical University in Rome. Jews still not satisfied with Vatican response, will do all they can to blame Pius XII for Holocaust
Why is it some Jewish leaders can't accept the truth? While many noted Jewish leaders have exalted the Holy See's document "We Remember. A Reflection on the Shoah," there are those radicals who won't accept it and, as most liberals are wont to do, preparing their own take on Pope Pius XII role during World War II without any definitive proof, only their prejudiced opinions. Isn't it about time we put this whole subject to rest? Evidently not for as they are proving in the current Auschwitz controversy with the crosses, liberal Jewish factions relish playing up their sufferings to the public. The latest figures indicate the total number at 207. In addition to the religious, numerous seminarians were also killed. For more, click on Congo.

PRAYERS & DEVOTION
While the feast of Saint Raymond Nonnatus is usurped by Ordinary Time in the new liturgy, it is nevertheless his feast day today and therefore we present this prayer in his honor:
O God, by Whose grace Blessed Raymond, Thy Confessor, wrought wonders in the redemption of Thy faithful people from the handle of wicked men; grant, we beseech Thee, by his intercession, that being loosed from the bondage of our sins, we may, with minds set free, do always what is pleasing unto Thee. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
PROVERB OF THE DAY"By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it." Proverbs 29: 4
