  • Death of Pope Saint Calixtus I or Callistus, Martyr who was beaten to death with clubs and his remains thrown into a well where the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere now stands.   • Pope John Paul II beatifies Blessed Enrique de Osso y Cervello nearly one year into his pontificate.
