PRAYER & DEVOTIONS
In honor of the feast of Pope Saint John I we present the Opening Prayer for today's Mass:
God, our Father, rewarder of all who believe, hear our prayers as we celebrate the martyrdom of Pope John. Help us to follow him in loyalty to the faith.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and take over
Meditative Lessons on the Glorious Mysteries
In the second part of Chapter 15: Touched by the Spirit the Blessed Virgin Mary urges us to be filled with the Spirit. Just as helium fills and inflates, so also if we are imbued with the Holy Spirit will begin to float above the mundane and seek God's Will in all things for it is the cross which crosses out the "I" for there can be no ego in God's plan. Our Lady asks that we submit to her Divine Spouse, giving Him our fiat just as she did at all times, specifically on the occasion of the Ascension. These meditative lessons, imparted by Our Lady to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart after Pentecost 1993, are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the Glorious Mysteries. Darth, dangerous & distant or Dear, merciful & always close!
One is a ridiculous myth that temporarily captures the imaginations of souls while the Other is the Most Sublime of Mysteries that frees souls...forever! May the HOST be with you!
In today's editorial we address a myriad of things via a prayer that was first recited late last year in the Kansas Senate and has since circulated around the world via the web. It ties in with the release of the most hyped film ever - "Episode One - The Phantom Menace" from the Star Wars series. In our commentary we show how the true Force is not enveloped in the ear-deafening THX sound system of George Lucas' mythical empire series but in the whisper of the Spirit, embraced in the tiny unleavened host consecrated at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. For today's commentary entitled May the Host be with you!, click on CATHOLIC PewPOINT.
Ascension to Pentecost Novena of Rosaries for Peace continues
In conjunction with the Worldwide Rosary Crusade Novena, we continue to promote the nine-day novena of Rosaries for peace between Ascension Thursday and the Solemnity of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church and the day of the Holy Spirit - dove of Peace. Today is the 6th day of the Novena.
Events in Church History
On this date two Popes named John passed away and the difference is like night and day. The first of course is today's saint, Pope Saint John I in 526 while the second is Pope John XII a rascal from the mold of Pope Alexander VI who died on this date 438 years later in 964. Learning to soar on eagles' wings
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"The mother eagle gets her young to fly by pecking away pieces of the nest bit by bit, until finally the young have to leave their temporary security. God, too, sometimes has to disturb man in his economic security, lest he think that it is the only security there is."

"I desire all the world to heed My Mother's words, for She comes as My Precursor, the New Eve, the Woman Clothed with the Sun."
Those words were spoken by the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Message #515 in July 1994 to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, in which Our Lord reinforces the fact that the signs will intensify. He follows this up on the feast of the abbot Saint Benedict, the father of modern monasticism, with the promise that suffering will intensify with chosen chastisements to wake up His children that what His Beloved Blessed Mother is conveying is from Him and that this cleansing - a purification if you will - is necessary for the glorious age to come. Next move for possible peace up to Milosevic according to Belgrade's Catholic Archbishop
His excellency Archbishop Franc Perko warns that NATO should not humiliate Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic if they want a peaceful solution in the Balkans. The Catholic prelate firmly believes that Milosevic wants peace and is willing to allow international troops in as long as he does not lose face and NATO doesn't muscle in. The Archbishop also feels the UN and Orthodox countries are the answer to easing tensions. For more, click on Peace is possible.
So many countries, so little time as Vatican mulls over where Holy Father will close Asian Synod
The Holy See is in a quandary on where the Pope will deliver his keynote closing address for the Asian Synod. Politics and Communist cooperation will play a huge roll that could swing one over the other though sentiment favors either Vietnam or India, the former to honor the long Catholic trials and tribulations of the people and Our Lady of La Vang since Hanoi has softened somewhat and the latter as an exclamation mark to all Mother Teresa accomplished. China remains a remote long shot. For more, click on The Asia Puzzle.
