Darth, dangerous & distant or Dear, merciful & always close! One is a ridiculous myth that temporarily captures the imaginations of souls while the Other is the Most Sublime of Mysteries that frees souls...forever! May the HOST be with you!
In today's editorial we address a myriad of things via a prayer that was first recited late last year in the Kansas Senate and has since circulated around the world via the web. It ties in with the release of the most hyped film ever - "Episode One - The Phantom Menace" from the Star Wars series. In our commentary we show how the true Force is not enveloped in the ear-deafening THX sound system of George Lucas' mythical empire series but in the whisper of the Spirit, embraced in the tiny unleavened host consecrated at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. For today's commentary entitled May the Host be with you!, click on CATHOLIC PewPOINT.

On this date two Popes named John passed away and the difference is like night and day. The first of course is today's saint, Pope Saint John I in 526 while the second is Pope John XII a rascal from the mold of Pope Alexander VI who died on this date 438 years later in 964. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

Pope conveys to 40,000 charity workers and volunteers that charity indeed begins at home as Vatican celebrates World Day of Social Communications This past weekend two events buttressed up against each other and His Holiness was able to seque both, the first was Saturday's event wrapping up the World Charity Congress organized by the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum" which included such luminaries as the Pope himself and Mother Teresa's handpicked successor Sister Nirmala of Calcutta. Sunday the Holy Father recognized World Day of Social Communicatiuons and called on the mass media to work in cooperation with the Church for the sacred culture of life. The Holy See is in a quandary on where the Pope will deliver his keynote closing address for the Asian Synod. Politics and Communist cooperation will play a huge roll that could swing one over the other though sentiment favors either Vietnam or India, the former to honor the long Catholic trials and tribulations of the people and Our Lady of La Vang since Hanoi has softened somewhat and the latter as an exclamation mark to all Mother Teresa accomplished. China remains a remote long shot. For more, click on The Asia Puzzle.

Dear children! Also today I call you to prayer. Little children, be joyful carriers of peace and love in this peaceless world. By fasting and prayer, witness that you are mine and that you live my messages. Pray and seek! I am praying and interceding for you before God that you convert; that your life and behavior always be Christian. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Today we present a site that could be helpful to many parish priests and edify the laity as well. It is called THE CATHOLIC DOORS and is maintained by Father Maurice Levesque out of Sasketoon, Canada. He makes numerous homilies for Sundays and Holy Days available to anyone as long as they are not used for commercial purposes or to solicit funds. It's fun just to read them and enjoy the inspiration of Father's words.
