We continue with this new series that debuted the beginning of the year, bringing you on a regular basis three times a week the Princes of the Church. Our sixty-fourth red-hat we feature, in alphabetical order is Cardinal Adam Kozlowiecki, S.J., Polish Missionary to Zambia who as served that region for 50 years after serving time in Auchwitz and Dachau during the war He was elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in the most recent Consistory of February 21, 1998. 64. Cardinal Adam Kozlowiecki, S.J.
At 88, Cardinal Adam Kozlowiecki, S.J. is no spring chicken but, even though retired, is still a missionary at heart. Born in Huta Komorowska in southern Poland on April 1. 1911 before World War I, he has experienced the horrors of numerous wars including two years after being ordained a Jesuit priest on June 24, 1937. He, along with twenty-four of his fellow priests, quite possibly one of them being Saint Maximilian Kolbe, were arrested by the Nazi Gestapo in Krakow on November 10, 1939 after Hitler had invaded his homeland and sent to Auschwitz. There, through the grace of God, he escaped death and was transferred to Dachau a year later, another house of horrors operated by the infamous Third Reich where he remained until the end of the war when the prisoners were liberated. Upon his release his Order sent him to Rhodesia as a missionary to teach. In 1950, Pope Pius XII made him Apostolic Administrator of the Prefecture of Lusaka. Five years later the Pope named him Bishop and Vicar Apostolic of Lusaka on September 11, 1955. Four years after that, his successor Pope John XXIII elevated him to Archibishop of Lusaka. Ten years after assuming this post, he resigned in 1969 to allow a native African bishop to assume the bishopric or the sake of the people of Zambia. The following year Pope Paul VI appointed him to the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
A missionary for over 50 years in Zambia, Africa, Cardinal Kozlowieki was granted the greatest honor last year when fellow Polish prelate Karol Wojtoyla, now Pope John Paul II, named him in the Consistory of February 21, 1998 granting him the titular church of St. Andrew's on the Quirinal. He became the oldest of the newest cardinals and, despite his age, expressed a yearning to return to his people in Africa where he resides today in Ridgeway, Zambia greatly loved by the faithful there.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
This special feast set aside to honor the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is a tribute to the devotion to the Sacred Heart which illustrates Christ's love, divine and human for all his children symbolized in His Own physical Heart. It is also a symbol of His Divine Triune Love where Jesus shares with the Father, Holy Spirit and through the Son, with mankind, manifesting this love so that He became man, subjecting Himself to the weakness of man so that we could have life and have it more abundantly (cf. John 10:10) for Colossians 2: 9 sums it up, "For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and in Him Who is the Head of every Principality and Power you have received of that fullness." Devotion to His Sacred Heart can be traced to many mystics over the years beginning with Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in the 12th Century then Saints Bonaventure and Gertrude in the 13th Century, followed by Saint Frances of Rome in the 15th Century and Saint Francis de Sales, Saint John Eudes and Saint Margaret Mary Alocoque in the 17th Century. It was the latter who received apparitions and locutions while in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament that gave the greatest impetus to this devotion and passed down the Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart. This led to the establishment of the Nine First Friday devotion which promises final penitence to those who receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of nine consecutive months.

FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
This feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was established by Pope Pius XII on December 8, 1945 and assigned to August 22. However, in more recent times it was moved to immediately follow the Feast of the Sacred Heart in concordance with the fact that wherever Jesus is, there is His Mother and wherever the Blessed Virgin Mary is, there also is her Divine Son. Devotion to the Immaculate Heart dates back to Saint John Eudes in the 17th Century who is known as the apostle of the devotion to the Two Hearts. He petitioned the Popes often during his life to institute special feasts honoring the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. At each time he met with resistance, but Our Lady had other plans and promoted this devotion to her Immaculate Heart at Fatima when she said, "In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph." Just as the Feast of the Sacred Heart is always celebrated on Friday to commemorate the First Fridays, so also the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is always celebrated on the Saturday immediate following to commemorate the First Saturday Devotion begun after the Fatima apparitions when Our Lady promised her intercession at the hour of a person's death if they received Holy Communion of the First Saturday of five consecutive months and promise to
offer reparation to her Divine Son through her Immaculate Heart. This feast also helped establish Saturday as special to Our Lady with the Church establishing optional memorials to the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday during Ordinary Time.

Though Sunday in Ordinary Time supersedes the feast, June 13th is traditionally the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua:
SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA, PRIEST, RELIGIOUS AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH
Very few saints are as well-loved as Saint Anthony of Padua. Born in Portugal in the city of Lisbon in 1195 with the Christian name Ferdinand, he was well educated by the Augustinians. Though he had intended to become an Augustinian Friar, the deeply moving experience of seeing the returned bodies of five martyred Franciscan Friars from Morocco prompted him to join the Franciscans where he took the name "Anthony." Eagerly anxious to go to Morocco to be a martyr for his faith, God had different ideas as Anthony became very sick just a few weeks after arriving in Morocco. On his return trip storms at sea forced his ship to Sicily where he returned via land through Italy. While in Italy he endeared himself to the poor, shunning everything he owned in the true Franciscan spirit. In 1221 he took part in the General Chapter of the Franciscans at Portiuncula. There he met the founder Saint Francis of Assisi. Deeply inspired, Anthony was ordained. Though meek and humble, God granted Anthony a powerful talent of preaching which Francis could see and assigned him as a lector to defend the faith against Albigensianism which was spreading. He was sent to northern Italy and southern France, returning to Italy in 1227 where he was assigned to Padua. The fame of his fruits had spread throughout Italy where reports of many miracles and countless conversions were attributed to this simple, but dynamic Franciscan and close friend of Francis, who Francis called his "bishop"...so great was Anthony's knowledge of theology and Sacred Scripture. Many were aware that evenings, after he had spoken to so many about the Divine Son, Jesus would come as a little child to be held in Anthony's arms where Our Lord would encourage the saint and tell him how much He loved this faithful Franciscan. This encouraged Anthony to preach ever more zealously for Jesus and about Jesus. To this day Anthony is always depicted holding the Scriptures in one hand with a lily for purity and the Christ Child in the other. Anthony died at the early age of 36 on June 13, 1231 and church bells rang throughout Italy, in many with no human person ringing the bells. People attributed the bellringers to the angels who had come to earth to ring them as children wailed in the streets crying aloud, "Our dear father, Anthony is dead." But his spirit and on-going miraculous wonders have lived on for nearly eight centuries. He is the patron saint of the poor and oppressed and the one to whom so many pray to when something or someone is lost.

PRAYERS & DEVOTION
CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS and the IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
In honor of the Feasts of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday and the Feast of the the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Saturday, we present the special consecration. Click on CONSECRATION.
CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AS COMPOSED BY POPE LEO XIII
CONSECRATION PRAYER
Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down on us humbly
prostrate before You. We are Yours, and Yours we wish to be. But, to be more
surely united with You, behold, each of us freely consecrates himself today
to Your Most Sacred Heart.
Many, indeed, have never known You. Many too, despising your precepts, have
rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to
Your Sacred Heart. Be King, O Lord not only of the faithful who have never
forsaken You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You.
Grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house, lest they die of
wretchedness and hunger. Be King of those who are decieved by erroneous
opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of
truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one
Shepherd.
Grant, O Lord, to Your Church, assurance of freedom and immunity from harm.
Give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to
pole with one cry: "Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation -
to It be glory and honor forever!" Amen.
CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
CONSECRATION PRAYER
Jesus, we know that You are merciful and that You have offered Your Heart
for us. It is crowned with thorns and with our sins. We know that You
implore us constantly so that we do not go astray. Jesus, remember us when
we are in sin. By means of your Heart make all men love one another. Make
hate disappear from amongst men. Show us Your love. We all love You and
want You to protect us with Your Shepherd's Heart and free us from every
sin. Jesus, enter into every heart! Be patient and never desist. We are
still closed because we have not understood Your Love. Knock continuously,
O Good Jesus, make us open our hearts to You at least in the moment we
remember Your Passion suffered for us. Amen.
(Dictated by Our Lady to Jelena Vasilij on November 18, 1983)
CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
CONSECRATION PRAYER
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, ardent with goodness, show Your Love towards
us. May the flame of Your Heart, O Mary, descend on all mankind. We love
You so. Impress true love in our hearts so that we have a continuous
desire for You. O Mary, humble and meek of heart, remember us when we are
in sin. You know that all men sin. Give us, by means of Your Immaculate
Heart, spiritual health. Let us always see the goodness of Your maternal
Heart and may we all be converted by means of the flame of Your Heart Amen.
(Dictated by Our Lady to Jelena Vasilij on November 28, 1983)
"The Hour of great Mercy has been ordained from all eternity and now the moment comes. But are you ready?"
That pertinent question comes from Our Lord in Message #551 on October 10, 1994 to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart in which Jesus alerts His children that the time of reckoning, the time of purification is near and asks if we are prepared. If we have followed His will and listened to His Mother's messages we will be. Speaking of the Blessed Mother, she imparts to the Hidden Flower on the 77th anniversary of the final apparition at Fatima the importance of heeding her Divine Son's words and reiterating the need to pray and obey so her words at Fatima can be brought to fulfillment. Messages 551 and 552
Message Five-Hundred-fifty-one, October 10, 1994
(Imparted to the Hidden Flower by the Sacred of Jesus)
Beloved Hidden Flower of My Mother's Immaculate Heart, I love and bless you. I am guiding you and I bless you and all your family for their obedience.
I solemnly tell all the world that you are entering upon the time of the severe chastisements. Those who are filled with My Holy Spirit shall see the signs which I give and allow as a warning to all the world.
O! Awaken from your complacency and hear My voice. The world trembles on the brink of chaos which will go beyond war. How severely all the world will suffer! How many tears shall fall upon barren hearts who have rejected My Mother, Her messages and all the signs and graces I have given.
Dear children, I Am. I Am God, Lord and Savior and I desire yet to pour out all Mercy upon My people. The Hour of great Mercy has been ordained from all eternity and now the moment comes. But are you ready? For years I have warned of the End Times. My own Mother has prepared you by leading you to Me. Yet I call and you do not answer. I call and you leave Me alone.
Therefore, I do solemnly tell you great shall be the tribulations which shall further purify all My little ones.
Be humble. Be obedient. Be Mercy, and you reside in the Refuge of My Sacred Heart.
I love and bless you, My children. Be vigilant. The River of Sorrows shall be as a flood. I alone am Salvation. Come to Me, for I love you.
Message Five-Hundred-fifty-two, October 13, 1994
(Imparted to the Hidden Flower by the Immaculate Heart of Mary)
(77th Anniversary of the final Fatima apparition and Miracle of the Sun)
Beloved Hidden Flower of my Immaculate Heart, I love and bless you. On this anniversary of my final apparition at Fatima, I come to speak to all of my little ones. You are now in the time of the severe chastisements! But you must not lose heart, for that does not allow God to strengthen you. Rather, my little children, it is for the good of your soul to become empty, to be poured out as a libation for all the world. It is in your weakness and nothingness that God's power, glory, might and victory shall be made known. As you become weaker so do you become stronger. And you must truly be strong! Strong in faith, hope and love. Pray very much, for when you do my Divine Son abides in you and I am there to help you.
O! If you only knew the power of prayer. O! If you knew the joy of my Immaculate Heart when I receive as bouquets your prayer. How I am able then to be of help to you. O! Little children, tremble before the power, glory, and majesty of the Most Holy Triune Divinity. Recognize that God alone is supreme, the Creator. All creation belongs to Him. And I, your Heavenly Mother do solemnly tell you that upon earth the time comes when every nation shall suffer; the time of weeping and gnashing of teeth is upon you.
Do you wish, my children, to come into Heavenly glory? Do you wish to bring Heavenly glory to earth?
Then you must do as I ask. Pray! Pray! Pray! Know your faith and live it, and always prepare yourselves well for Holy Mass and receive the Sacrament of Penance weekly if you can so you may come often in purity to my Divine Son in the Blessed Sacrament.
Today, I rejoice for all who have heard my message and live it. But I am also very sorrowful for the countless souls who do not believe, do not trust, do not love and therefore do not pray! Great shall be their sorrow in this time!
I love and bless you. Thank you for responding to my Call!
