One who can soar higher than MJ!

In this weekend's editorial we get caught in the hoopla about hoopstar Michael Jordan and the announcement of his retirement with the Chicago Bulls. Turning his back on the NBA, Jordan leaves the world with a void sports-wise; but we point out that there is a definite void in the world that can only be aided by another Michael - one who can soar to the highest heights and beyond. God's real "Airness" has been around seemingly forever. For this weekend's commentary "Be like Mike!", click on CATHOLIC PewPOINT.

Time to throw the bathwater out with the babykiller!

In her column this week, Sister Mary Lucy Astuto tackles the issue of impeachment and dispels the myth that the country will suffer if the president is removed. She's more concerned that the country will suffer if he is not removed for a fish stinks from the head and that head, personified in Bill Clinton and his culture of death agenda, has spoiled the soup! To use another cliche, it's time to throw the bathwater out with the babykiller. For Sister's column, The loss of a president, click on GETTING TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER

SIMPLY SHEEN

"Life is unbearable only to those who are ignorant of why they are alive."

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind. Today we begin famous quotes from this late luminary who did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN". On Fridays we bring you more than just a quote; we bring you a brief homily on a subject that is pertinent today. That subject today is reflecting on Saint Augustine's truths of "Our heart is restless until we rest in Thee." For words of wisdom from Bishop Sheen, click on Simply Sheen.

Cardinal Aramburu's song could be "Don't cry for me, Argentina" but he's shed a lot of sweat and tears for his beloved homeland over the years

We continue with this new series that debuted two weeks ago, bringing you on a regular basis three times a week the Princes of the Church. Our sixth red hat we feature, in alphabetical order is Argentina's Archbishop emeritus of Buenos Aires Cardinal Juan Carlos Aramburu who is one of the older cardinals and ineligible for the Sacred Conclave.     Dear children! In this Christmas joy I desire to bless you with my blessing. In a special way, little children, I give you the blessing of little Jesus. May He fill you with His peace. Today, little children, you do not have peace and yet you yearn for it. That is why, with my Son Jesus, on this day I call you to pray, pray, pray, because without prayer you do not have joy or peace or a future. Yearn for peace and seek it, for God is true peace. Thank you for having responded to my call.
