Special Advent Novena Prayers

PRAYER & DEVOTION

ADVENT NOVENA PRAYER

O Triune Divinity, we come to you through the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin, and St. Joseph, her chaste, holy spouse. In this season of Advent we desire to obtain the grace of purity of intention, that through our obedience to Your Heavenly Will, we, too, can transform our poor, miserable lives into the resplendent stable at Bethlehem where You Only-begotten Son was born.
Through the intercession of Mary, and all the hosts of Heaven, we beseech You, through the merits gained for us by Jesus Christ, Your Only-begotten Son, to help us convert our hearts, to live the messages of Your Mother, and to ardently beseech You to bring about the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart now, that the Reign of the Sacred Heart might be upon the world.
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your goodness and beseech You to hear us, not because of our worthiness, but because of our willingness to be Your little children who kneel in adoration to their God. Come, let us adore Him!

PRAYER for December 23: Fourth Wednesday of Advent

More and more people crowded the road. The nights were cold, and the days long. Riding on a donkey was a lot different than riding in a comfortable, heated automobile. Help us, Mary, to recognize that we are often lazy and spoiled, unwilling to make any sacrifice for God, Who lowered Himself to become Man, to be born in an impoverished stable. We are in need of your help, Blessed Mother, to overcome the weakness which is inherent in our characters, that instead we might be strengthened in our faith, made ardent in our love and fervent in our trust.

PRAYER for December 24: Fourth Thursday of Advent - CHRISTMAS EVE

Heavenly Father, You summoned the entire court of Heaven to witness that event whereby Your Only Begotten Son would come among men to save them from their sins. How joyful were the Heavens that night, filled with a splendor we cannot comprehend, as the stable in Bethlehem became awash with glory, more resplendent than all the palaces of all the kings that have ever ruled. Make of our hearts and souls a stable alight with the Love of God, wherein Your Son might be born, and let Your angels come and sing to us, "Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, Peace to men of good will!"

CHRISTMAS NOVENA (LAS POSADAS) PRAYERS

The earliest ecclesiastical novena of which the Church has on record is the Christmas novena, which commemorates the nine months during which the Christ-child was carried in the womb of His Mother and coincides with the 16th century Mexican tradition of Las Posadas. This Christmas Novena carries an Indulgence of 7 years once on any day as taken from the "Blessed Be God" Prayer Book, 1959.

PRAYER for December 23: EIGHTH DAY OF LAS POSADAS

O Emmanuel, our King and our Law-giver, Longing of the Gentiles, yea, and salvation thereof, come to save us, O Lord our God! (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be)

PRAYER for December 24: NINTH DAY OF LAS POSADAS

O Thou that sittest upon the cherubim, God of hosts, come, show Thy face, and we shall be saved. (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be)

PRAYER for December 25: CHRISTMAS: THE SOLEMNITY OF THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD

"O Divine Infant, I humbly kneel before You, my God and Savior. I have truly struggled to prepare myself for You this day. I am poor and wretched, just as the stable at Bethlehem was. By Your Merciful Presence You changed the miserable poverty of the stable into a sublime Heavenly dwelling. O Good Jesus, tiny infant, I beseech You to grant me the grace of always remaining in child-like faith to adore You; and to be renewed by Your Presence both now and for all Eternity. Through the intercession of Your Most Holy Mother, I welcome You into my poor heart, begging You never again to leave. Thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for coming to me, your little child. Hasten the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart, and may Your Mercy and Justice purify the earth as You Will. Amen."
