Dr. Frank Joseph's column this week addresses the scandal that alongside California Senator Dianne Feinstein, stand men who should know better - men who were raised Catholic, but have abandoned their principles, their very Faith for the spoils of temporal gain, forgetting in the process that it matters not to gain the whole world if one loses their eternal soul. These men are Gray Davis, Cruz Bustamonte, Arnold Schwarzenneger, and Cardinal Roger Mahony. Useful fools and felons we should both fear and forget
On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimar„es returns with documentation on the weak-clawed head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith . Because of this evidence, we at The Daily Catholic ask: Where is modern Rome in exacting compliance to the censoring of Gramick and Nugent for promoting the sodomy mentality? Sadly missing in action. Despite growing acceptance of all things sinful, the Vatican must stand firmly against those things which directly contradict Faith and Morals, and yet, just as they turned the other way in respect to the notorious Hans KŁng, so also the conservatives' favorite poster boy Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger doesn't even lift a paw or pause to think of the scandal from such lack of follow-through and failure to enforce and uphold the Faith. Atila offers a bird's eye perspective in assessing the lack of upholding the Faith by the "king of the beasts" within the CDF in his column Cardinal Ratzinger: A Toothless Lion
Quid Dicit Scriptura
One of the areas The Daily Catholic has not been able to furnish until now is a solid Catholic Apologetic based on the Holy Scriptures. With the addition of Jacob Michael we can now provide the reader a a steady diet of Catholic Apologia in order to counteract Protestant friends who are great at quoting Sacred Scripture and even better at taking it out of context and interpreting according to how they view it, not on what the Church has always directed in discerning that which the Holy Ghost has inspired as Divine Revelation. The whole question comes down to "What saith the Scriptures?" and that is the title of Jacob's column - in Latin, of course: "Quid Dicit Scriptura?", with passages taken from the Latin Vulgate Douay Rheims Roman Catholic version. With this issue he begins a multi-part installment on "The Gospel is the Kingdom"
Mario Derksen reflects on the "coincidences" of a "transitional Pope" which, no one can deny, John XXIII was. Mario contends in his theory that it was all prearranged in order to implement the very agenda that has rendered the Church so impotent in grace today, all begun by setting Angelo Roncalli up as a "transitional Pope" - the "Good Pope" in the eyes of the world. That alone should have warned us of what was ahead after the "transitional pontificate" ended, as Mario explains in his column A "Transitional" Pope?
Doctors of the Church
The twenty-eighth Doctor in this chronological series on the Doctors of the Church was an Italian born on the feast of the founder of the Franciscans, but trained as a Jesuit who upheld the ideals of the Society as its founders had established. He was an extremely sharp polemist who was not afraid to take on the most vitrolic Protestant theologians and, because this master apologist never wavered from Catholic truth, he always won out in perpetuating the Counter Reformation of Trent. His fame, humility and sense of the Sensus Catholicus won back countless souls who had wavered during the Reformation. But his wisdom was not employed only on the sheep, but the shepherds as well - the chief shepherds - for he was Theologian and Spiritual Counselor to no less than five Popes. He was the noted Saint Robert Bellarmine.

SUNDAY, September 14
Proper for the Mass of The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Most Holy Cross which this year falls on the Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he points out how Christ emphasized very clearly that we cannot serve two masters as documented in the Gospel of St. Matthew. On the specific feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Our Lord encourages us all in the Gospel to "Walk whilst you have the light that the darkness overtake you not. And he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. Whilst you have the light, believe in the light; that you may be the children of light." However, because the Church for the past 40 years has not served as the moral compass, it has allowed the light to grow very, very dim where today her enemies question everything from the Shroud of Turin to the Holy Mysteries, sacking the sacred in favor of a man-made concoction that takes away from the sacrificial nature of "the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven." Father reminds us that there can be no glory without the Cross and that all the wisdom of Solomon could not match the infinite, infallible wisdom of our Savior as he points out in his sermon Christ, the Power and Wisdom of God

Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Sunday Feast of St. Matthew focuses on the folly of those who cannot see that the Holy Scriptures were divinely inspired and that it is not fiction, but fact. The Holy Ghost inspired it, the Church has declared it Divine Revelation. That's good enough no matter what the naysayers say. Father points out that Matthew's words must take precedence over the modern gibberish that the life of Christ, His Passion, Death and Resurrection are really "historical inaccuracies" written by a few men who had an agenda to perpetuate the Christian concept. Sadly, instead of all Christians rallying to expose this lie, many fall for the charade. Only a few, mainly Traditional Catholics, are willing to be the ring bearers of Truth and shout from the rooftops that Matthew was right on. But few there are today who, like Matthew, would be willing to follow a Carpenter from Nazareth instead of the political correct sirens today because the message Matthew scribed would not be in lockstep with the insidious tolerance and acceptance of evil - of sin. Following a Carpenter from Nazareth.
White Smoke, Black Fire!
In the sixth episode of Chapter Eleven of The Shrouding, Stephen wends his way toward where Sister Bridie is being held captive, while in the Sala Regia Cardinal Zachmunn continues to recruit Cardinals on the fence to realize the wisdom of voting down the fabricated preconized 40 bishops. What you might have missed last week:
During the third week of October there will be much ballyhooing going on in Rome. Organizers and planners have been preparing for some time to stage with great pomp and circumstance the 25th Anniversary of the pontificate of John Paul II. All form and no function. Every Cardinal will be in Rome and why? To rejoice over the deterioration and wreckovation of Holy Mother Church? They might as well since that is the only accomplishment they can claim, and sadly that deed has been most thorough over the past 40 years, not to mention from 1978 to the present which just happens to be the time Karol Cardinal Wojtya has been responsible for the total undermining of the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. To add to the Mardi Gras-like malaise is the elevation of the Novus Ordo's darling Mother Teresa whose beatification was unprecedentedly rushed through by pressure of worldly opinion without the benefit of a competent Devil's Advocate. But then, with so many being beatified and canonized today - more than all the past Pontiffs combined - why should we be surprised? It all comes down to one simple question we ask our neo-Catholic friends and to every priest, bishop, cardinal and yes, especially the Pope himself: What is there to celebrate?
Exspectans exspectavimus Ecclesia Dei
Bishop Richard Williamson checks in with his final letter before his reassignment to an Argentina Seminary in South America after 21 years as rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, Minnesota. He shares a whimsical poem in which, in his own inimitable way, he expresses much emotion. On the serious side, in his 'last hurrah' of encouragement to American Traditional Catholics, he urges all to stay the course in holding true to the Apostolic Traditions of Holy Mother Church as he stresses Persevere in the Truth.
