Dr. Ward Ciacco received his degrees from New Jersey and holds an MS and PhD in engineering. Dr. Ciaccio is currently working in the area of biomedical research. The research work that he and his research students do is in the area of developing analysis methods to help in therapies for treatment of patients. Much of this work has been published in peer reviewed academic journals. He teaches in biomedical signal and image processing, biomedical data transduction and acquisition, and computers. Some classes have nearly 50 students enrolled, and he is planning to write a book entitled "Scientific Biomedical Engineering" based on his lecture notes for the courses. During summertime he generally employs interested qualified students from leading universities to work in the laboratory.
While he works within biomedical areas, his heart is truly in preserving the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. Like so many who have converted back to the true Roman Catholic Faith as it had always been taught before Vatican II, Dr. Ciaccio was one of the '70's Catholics who lapsed along with his entire family except for attendance at Christmas and Easter masses. He later joined an Evangelical outfit, and then the Mainline Protestant churches, before finally rejoining the One True Church. With all the hard-hitting authors contributing to The Daily Catholic, we wanted to balance with a softer approach and in Dr. Ciaccio we believe we have found one who believes it's best to be mellow with regard to the faith of others. He firmly believes that what we can do most is pray, set a good example, and help to restore our own Church. For that reason he believes that all devout Catholics should work together for the restoration of the Church, which is badly needed, regardless of how traditional or conservative one is. The True Faith, after all, is the True Faith. Dr. Ciaccio spends some of his spare time writing letters to the "Catholic" bishops. He believes in the Lord's teaching that we must use the talents given us and not be lazy, whether those talents are big or small or somewhere in between. Dr. Ciaccio is a layman in the single state, living with his mother and one sister. He has one other sister who is married with five children. His column is called "Feed My sheep", taken, of course from Jesus' words to Peter in St. John 21: 17. It was the third time Our Lord had entreated Simon Peter, formerly known as Simon Bar Jona, brother of the Apostle James. Peter was the first apostle Christ chose. The Messiah had shown Peter how he could love Him more than others by commanding the fisherman disciple to "Feed My lambs". He repeated it a second time, and then finally "Feed My sheep". Three times Christ said it, many believing it was exoneration, forgiveness to Peter for denying his Savior three times after Christ's Agony in the Garden.
