The war in Afghanistan is only the tip of the iceberg!

430 years to the day, Lepanto takes on an even greater significance for loyal Catholics who realize the great threat of Islamism is no different today than it was in the time when Pope Saint Pius V entreated the Christian world to take up the Rosary - their most powerful weapon - and pray with all their heart and soul to stop the curse of the Crescent Moon - a false religion that rose to prominence in the year 666. Then and today the Koran or Qu'ran preaches that Christianity must be destroyed.

I am speaking of the attack on Sunday, October 7th, by the Western Forces on Afghanistan and the terrorist base camps of Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda forces responsible for the horrific attack on September 11th this year. I doubt President George W. Bush realizes the significance of the date he chose to launch the counter-attack. But Almighty God and loyal Catholics know. It was the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary - also known as Our Lady of Victory, so named by St. Pius V in thanksgiving and tribute for Mary's intercession before the Triune Divinity to preserve the souls of her beloved Divine Son's Church. To his credit Pope John Paul II asked all to pray the Rosary for a peaceful solution to the building crisis in the wake of 9-11. The problem is few know the Holy Father has asked for this for few dioceses have conveyed that to their flock in time for the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. In fact the Feast is not even mentioned in most parishes today. So sad for this is truly a momentous day in history. Is it a coincidence or a Godincidence that the US and Britain chose this day?

Since the time when Mohammed began spreading his venom against the followers of Christ and worked his followers into a frenzy to bring down any and everything that represents Christianity, the Muslim world has been on a jihad to battle Christians everywhere. Oh, you'll hear that Islamism isn't about that, it's about love and peace. That contradicts the Koran which says "Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends.... whoso does that belongs not to God.' [Koran, The House of Imram: 60] or in Repentance: 20, "O believers, do not treat your fathers and brothers as your friends, if they prefer unbelief to belief, whosoever of you takes them for friends, they are evildoers" or in Repentance chapter 9 of Repentance, verse 123, "Humiliate the non-Muslims to such an extent that they surrender and pay tribute." There are countless other passages experts of the Koran have cited in giving lie to the idea that Islamism is about love of all men. Muslims are taught to revile 'non-believers' and convert them. If they don't, kill them. Quite different than what Christ preaches: "Love your enemies, do good to them who hate you; and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you, that you may be the children of your Father Who is in Heaven; Who maketh His sun to rise upon the good and the bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust" (Matthew 5: 44-45).

That answers why innocents suffer along with the guilty. But does that mean we should just turn the other cheek and let them do whatever they want no matter what? Far from it. The retaliation by the U.S. is justifiable for Christ never taught to not defend ourselves or our loved ones from danger and neither does His Church. Remember it was Popes and saints who preached the Crusades, who called Christians to war against the infidel - the Muslims or Saracens as they were called in medieval times. Have these followers of a false god - Allah - changed their 'theology' or beliefs since then? I don't think so. The eradication of Catholics and non-Catholics who follow the teachings of Christ in Indonesia - specifically East Timor in 1999 - bear this out. So also the genocide in the Sudan, and many other places in Africa where Islamism is the state religion. So also with the Moros in the Philippines. So also with the Muslims of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran, so also with the Muslims of Iraq and Saddam Hussein, so also with the Muslims in Palestine where Yasser Arafat shelters terrorist groups, and so also with the Muslim followers of bin Laden and the Taliban. So also the Islamist fanatics who piloted two planes into the World Trade Towers, one into the Pentagon and one failed effort that plummeted in Pennsylvania. So also with countless others that were thwarted because of the shutdown of all airlines on that fateful day.

America and Europe have long been looked upon by Muslims as the 'Great Satan' because of the wealth and Christian principles they are supposed to live by. Sadly, thanks to the Masonic movement which has penetrated so deeply within every level of American life secularly and within the Church, we have not truly lived up to those principles, God's Holy Laws. Like the Jews of Old Testament times, when they veered from the path, God had ways of reminding them. So also today. Again, as we wrote last week, God did not plan the attacks on 9-11 but He did allow it as part of His permitting will to remind us of how far we have fallen. Bishop Fulton J. Sheen foretold of this decades ago. Mother Angelica pinpointed what America must do to be totally rid of terrorism: Rid our own country of the terrorists of the womb and soul. A recent CWN story pointed out that Americans by the drove are returning to Church in the wake of the attacks on 'Black Tuesday.' As we emphasized in our last commentary, will this be permanent or temporary? That is a question God asks of each of us. No one will ever forget that terrible day in September. Hopefully no one will ever forget God's Divine Mercy. Hopefully no one will ever forget either that He is equally Just. We cannot continue in the sinful ways we have been headed. September 11th was a reminder of that.

Since that day Americans have lived in fear. But the fear has been a physical fear, afraid of biochemical attacks and other scares the media is generous in distributing to feed the angst. Fear that this could be a long, drawn-out war unlike any other we have ever seen. For weeks Americans have been on pins and needles wondering and speculating, many hoarding food and survival supplies - even gas masks in a panic to be prepared in case the worst happens. Everyone has been wondering until Sunday, October 7th. Now we have struck back. Bush has been wise in waiting, making sure everything was in place, making sure intelligence had targets identified to avoid the destruction of innocents, something the Muslim terrorists had no consideration for. Bush has also done something unprecedented since the Crusades, providing help to the innocent civilians of our enemy by providing food to the refugees through drops after the bombings. Some may say that defeats the purpose. We say it is in full accordance with what Our Lord said to do in Matthew 5: 44.

To the common observer the first pictures from Kabul looked no different than ten years ago in Baghdad when all was dark and explosions could be seen on the horizon with announcers speaking in Arabic. As we all know that war - the Gulf War - was over in a relative short time. It wasn't finished because President George Bush Sr. declined to go into Baghdad and capture Saddam, bring him to trial for war crimes. Since that time Hussein has had the opportunity to rebuild his arsenal. Many fear very threatening weapons such as biochemical, even nuclear. We all know now that Bush Sr. made a grave mistake by not finishing Hussein off. Since then he has killed off countless Kurds and many Chaldean Catholics. Besides that the people of Iraq have suffered greatly through the embargo placed on the country because of the evils of Saddam. Yes, God allows misfortune to rain on the just and the unjust alike.

Americans have always had the attitude of superiority, of over-confidence. Victories in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II and the Korean War contributed to this mindset. The Vietnam War was a different kind of war and we suffered greatly for it in more ways than we can imagine that are still having grave repercussions today both in our country, the world and our beloved Church. The Gulf War restored that feeling of superiority - invincibility until September 11th. Now we are once again at war. Father Ken Roberts, a priest badly maligned by modernist bishops, said two days after the U.S. strafed Iraq in 1991 that war is never good, but if we don't go in and get Saddam now (January 1991) then in five or ten years he could be much stronger and far, far more dangerous, having the time to develop these apocalyptic weapons. In hindsight we can see Fr. Ken was a prophet for indeed Saddam has had time to do just that. Strangely, very little has been said about Hussein this time around with all focus on bin Laden, but you have to know Saddam is waiting, gnawing at the bit to get in his shots - first at Israel, then America.

Speaking of prophecies, Our Lady warned shortly after the Gulf War that unless America repented and shed the sins of the flesh and other sins that greatly offend her Divine Son, she could not hold back the hand of God. She warned that if America continued on the secular path of sin, the next time America went to war would be much different than in 1991. There would be many, many casualties. Was she referring to the war that was escalated this past Sunday or was she including the first strike in 2001 - the attack on America? We don't know for sure, but we do know from 1991 to 2001 American society has only sunk deeper in sin. Abortions have continued unabated with nearly 15 million more innocents killed in the womb by their own mothers with the cooperation of abortionists and politicians and bishops. Sodomy has made leaps and bounds in making this country far, far worse than Sodom and Gomorrah ever were. Both the Grecian and Roman Empires were toppled from within by perversion of the flesh - sodomy. Who is to say the same thing won't happen in the United States? We're well on our way to it with this most perverted of sins being promoted and tolerated in our chambers, in our schools and in our chanceries.

As I pointed out a few commentaries ago, why has the Vatican not produced a defining, absolute encyclical or Papal Bull condemning homosexuality? It is beyond the most loyal Catholic that this has not been done. We ask in all respect, what is the Pope waiting for? Or is it true, with the bishops meeting this month in Rome for the Special World Synod of Bishops, that they are so powerful and influential that they won't allow the Holy Father to speak out? You have to wonder how deep sodomy has penetrated the episcopate. How else do you explain so many bishops protecting homosexual priests, allowing sodomites to continue their sin and asking for tolerance. That is not Christ-like, that is satan-like for the soul is what is important, not the body. How many times do we have to remind all of Our Lord's words in Matthew 10: 28? "And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" or Matthew 16: 24-26, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For he who would save his life will lose it; but he who loses his life for My sake will find it. For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

We ask: Are the bishops so hell-bent on being accepted by society that they fail to curtail sin and, even worse, fail to encourage their fellow bishops and the Pope to speak out forcibly and with discipline on the absolutes of what Holy Mother Church has always taught against aiding and abetting sin? This goes for abortion and sodomy, as well fornication and all the seven deadly sins. Previous Popes were not afraid to speak out against sin, against dangers in the world that threatened the foundations of the Apostolic Church. Pope Pius IX, Pope Leo XIII, Pope Saint Pius X, Pope Pius XI and Pope Pius XII all come to mind in being vigilant and alerting their flock. You can find most of these documents in Sacred Deposit of the Faith.

In contrast we have the last four Vatican II Popes beginning with Pope John XXIII who agreed to the notorious Pact of Metz which Atila Guimar„es brought to everyone's attention in the last issue in his column On the BattleLine. Then we have Pope Paul VI who on January 29, 1965 slapped all Christians in the face when he gave back to the Turkish government the Muslim standard of a Turkish fleet ship that the small Christian armada had taken as a symbol of victory when, led by Don Juan of Austria, the Christian Fleet stopped the Islam curse at Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V rewarded the Church for this victory by paying homage to God and venerating the Blessed Mother for interceding through the Rosary. Paul VI proclaimed on that day in 1965 when he betrayed Pius V and those who followed, that "the wars of religion are finished for good." Who says a Pope cannot be wrong? Paul VI was dead wrong. By his gestures and his successors' acts, most notably our current Holy Father who went so far as to kiss the Koran - an act that brings into questions violations against the First Commandment - the Christian world let down their guard. Atila has a poignant article on this in his column in this issue on The Kiss and the Blood.

Whether it's naivete or the Pope truly believes the Muslims and their leaders are sincere, we know from world events that something doesn't wash here. Sacred Scripture bears this out. Read Daniel 11 and 12. All that is coming to pass has been foretold. Perhaps that is why God is allowing all that has happened in the last forty years to also play out as it has, perhaps that is why - through His permitting will, not His ordaining will - He has allowed the continual Sacrifice of the Holy Mass to be desecrated so in the New World Order Mass. Read Macchabees to understand this better for indeed the Jews also had their continual Sacrifice on the Altar greatly altered and obliterated amidst much deception by the kings Jason, Menelaus, Lysimachus and Alcimus. Some point out the similarities between those four rulers and the four recent rulers of the Church. Are there similarities? Could these scripture scholars be right in the discernment that the very same thing that happened to the continual Sacrifice in Macchabees has also happened to the continual Sacrifice of the Altar in our times? Could there be truth to their contention that the last four Popes have aided and abetted this? Pray and read Macchabees for yourself and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Know the background of the continual Sacrifice of the Old Testament and know what happened to it, how they turned the altars around and defiled the sanctuary and then look at what they have done to denude our sanctuaries, our churches that once stood as houses of God where all could go day and night to worship the True God present in the Tabernacle front and center in every Church. Know the background of how the continual Sacrifice of the Holy Mass - as said for fourteen hundred years and decreed to be said forever by St. Pius V - has been altered and stripped of so much in the same fashion as what happened in Macchabees. Read and discover for yourself.

Satan is not only the father of half-truths, but he is the great deceiver, the great mocker. He has no original thoughts of his own and therefore he mocks and mimics God and His sacred rituals. It was lucifer who spawned the false idols of Baal and others of the Old Covenant times and it was the same evil spirit who raised up Mohammed as a false prophet intent on destroying satan's great enemy - the Bride of Christ. We know the devil was already in the sanctuary in the sixties. Paul VI confirmed this. Do you think satan has gone away or just dug in deeper?

So also his disciple Osama bin Laden and others. Their network is vast and deep. Taking out a few bases and terrorist camps will not destroy the vipers' den. Only prayer, repentance and penance with a sincere national commitment by Americans everywhere to turn away from sin will win the day. With all the high tech weapons available today, how long will it take for our leaders to fall back on the most powerful weapon we have at our disposal? How long will it take to learn from history? How long will it take to call all Americans to lock and load their Rosary beads and fire a sincere volley to Heaven? If we don't, well Sacred Scripture has shown only too clearly that the war in Afghanistan is only the tip of the iceberg!
