Pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory by adding the Prayer of Saint Gertrude the Great after the Fatima Prayer. With one week left in November, it's important to remember that during this month countless Souls are released everytime this prayer is said for that intention:

"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son Jesus Christ, in union with all the Holy Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory and for sinners everywhere: for sinners in the universal Church, in my home and in my family. Amen."

The Rosary of Mary is our most powerful weapon. Click on the Rosary button above to recite the full Rosary in either English or Latin.

Fatima Prayer in English

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.

Fatima Prayer in Latin

O Mi Jesu, remitte nobis peccata nostra, custodi nos ad igne inferi, attrahe omnes animas ad Caelum praecipue illas maxime egentes misericordiae tuae.

Fourth Council of Constantinople
The issue of declaring Photius a heretic was paramount for the Fourth Council of Constantinople which was called jointly by the Emperor Basil and Pope Hadrian II in 869. Photius had openly criticized clerical celibacy, challenged Pope Saint Leo III's crowning of Charlemagne as Holy Roman Emperor on Christmas of 800, and questioned the Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father and the Son in the Filioque of the Creed. Photius was condemned by the Council. This set the stage 200 years later when the Great Eastern Schism became official by the defiant act of Michael Cerularius closing the Latin churches in Constantinople. He was excommunicated by Pope Saint Leo IV in 1054. Also of concern at this last Council to be held in the East was the growing Saracen threat. Symphony of Suffering
Cyndi Cain returns after a month away recuperating from reaction to a spider bite. She asks all to spend this Advent in preparation for the Nativity by reading the Word and books that affirm all that Christ taught, especially as decreed in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass - His gift to us. She asks all to seriously think about books that might truly surprise you how spiritual they are as she explains in Something you can 'book' on for Advent
Christ or chaos
Dr. Tom Droleskey resumes his series on commenting and analyzing on various paragraphs of the new General Instruction of the Roman Missal in his series "The Germs of G.I.R.M." with the thirty-first installment. This time it deals with the Credo (The Nicene Creed) which has lost much of what was proclaimed at the Council of Nicaea, even though in the New Mass the faithful are called to confirm something that are mysteries. Impossible. Yet, it's right there in black and white in G.I.R.M as Tom points out in Aversion at Mass has replaced immersion in the Mass
Traditional Thoughts
In preparation for Advent we present an inspiring, beautiful essay on receiving Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist. It is not one sided, but a give and take of Love that will truly give the reader much to meditate and pray on as we present an article first run in "Tradidi Quod et Accepi", the monthly newsletter of the St. Pius X Priory and Retreat Center in Quebec and sent to us through the Traditionalism List. It is simply titled, "The Communion"
Standing with the Church Militant On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimar„es continues with the meaning of symbolism with this time treating the Chalice - the Holy Grail and its importance to what Christ went through in the Garden of Gethsemane. Atila provides the meaning of the Chalice in his column The Symbol of the Chalice in the Garden of the Olive Trees
Simply Sheen
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen illustrates that in future missionary efforts in evangelizing Moslems, the key will be reminding them of Our Lady of Fatima who should remain dear to the hearts of followers of Islam as the doorway to discovering Mary's Divine Son in Mary is the portal for Moslems to accept Christ
Echoes of True Catholicism
Dr. Marian Horvat laments the demise of the stable Catholic family which began with the demeaning of the wife and mother's role in society. Because of this more and more families languish in the desert of secular acceptance rather than seeking the ideals outlined by Pope Pius XII who called the wife the 'sun of the family...radiating everywhere goodness and gentleness when they upbraid and reprove.' Dr. Horvat points to the problems in part eight of The Egalitarian Revolution
Catholic PewPOINT
In the aftermath of Thanksgiving and because of its importance we carry over editor Michael Cain's open letter to His Holiness John Paul II which addresses the problems in the Church today. He pleads with the Pope to right the Barque of Peter by returning to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church in his commentary Plight of the Pilgrims
Precious Gift of our Faith
Catechetical Apologetic Series based on My Catholic Faith on the Most Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The 249th installment of "Appreciating the Precious Gift of the Faith" provides the answers of how we can restore the lost reverence for the Mass of the Faithful by adhering to the rubrics set in stone with part four From after the Consecration to the Minor Elevation
Pro Life Prescriptions
Dr. Frank Joseph turns his attention to something that is grabbing headlines today - euthanasia or mercy killing, especially in light of the Justice Department's latest crackdown on it. Dr. Frank shares a story of a young woman with spina bifida who attests to the need to cling to life despite the overwhelming obstacles as he illustrates in his article The Right to Live
Liturgy of the Saints
The final week of the Liturgical Year begins with the Traditional Feast of Saint Sylvester, Abbot on Monday as well as the Feast of Saint Peter of Alexandria, Bishop and Martyr. Thursday is the Vigil of Saint Andrew followed Friday by celebration of the Feast of the Apostle Andrew. This ends the official Liturgical Year which begins anew on the First Sunday of Advent on December 2nd in preparation for the Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ on the Solemnity of the Nativity. Each Week of Advent represents a thousand years totaling 4,000 as the time the souls were in Limbo waiting for the Messiah. For these feasts see Liturgical Calendar of Traditional Roman Rite For reflections on the the First Sunday of Advent, see Fr. Cusick's reflections
The Great Sacrilege
Father James F. Wathen, O.S.J. has granted permission to publish his entire work which was first published by Tan Books in 1972, and which we urge you to read for everything he wrote back then is backed by the solid depositum fidei - the Sacred Deposit of the Faith and still holds true. It takes up where the Ottaviani Intervention left off as you'll see in Part Six of Chapter Three - E. Pope Paul's Defense.
"Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do"
Fred Martinez presents shockwaves of the moral malaise in our Catholic High Schools. It is a situation that should alert all bishops and pastors that they had better toe the line and rein in those runaway heretics who are running the asylums by being so tolerant to secularism and the acceptance of homosexuality as Fred points out in his article Why are Catholic High School students Pro-Homosexual?
White Smoke, Black Fire!
The first episode of the Chapter Four in Part II - "The Smoldering" begins in this issue with Pat Gallagher arriving at the Field of Death outside New Nasiriyah, Iraq amid the smoldering ruins of flesh, mylar and steel as rescue workers sift through the debris. The process is slow and through many checkpoints he must pass as he computes the special Reflector Code Card to send back images to his editor Vic Van Wess at the Metroplex Mirror in Dallas.

Answer to last quiz: Most of the readers were pretty adept at determining which Council proclaimed, "If anyone rejects any written or unwritten Tradition of the Church, let him be anathema." That was, of course, the Second Council of Nicaea and over 60% got it right. Yet there were a handful who guessed the Council of Clermont, the Fifth Council of Constantinople or the Second Vatican Council. The Council of Clermont was not a major Council of the Church. There was no Fifth Council of Constantinople, the fourth being the last in 869 and which is featured in this issue. Finally, Vatican II was a pastoral-only Council and so the contrast of what was adopted after it cries out for an explanation of the proclamation of Nicaea II for indeed, sadly, many written and unwritten Traditions of the Church have been rejected by the post-Conciliar Church.
