Frank Joseph, MD is a throw-back to
yesteryear: a doctor who made house calls! Reared in Southern California, he graduated
from UC Irvine Medical School and had a healthy family practice for years, beloved by
all for his gentle bed-side manner and caring, Christian outlook.
As a concerned Catholic physician, fulfilling his God-given talents and living up to his Hippocratic oath
overrode the greed for wealth. As more and more regulations crept into the medical profession, and
abortion became not only the norm but expected of many doctors, he would have none of this growing
culture of death and moved into Internal Medicine which, as he points out, was "less hectic."
Today he is retired from active practice but dispenses a wealth of wisdom in upholding the Sanctity of
Life. He doesn't candycoat what is happening today in the medical and political arenas and decries
the collapse of morals in America. We have enlisted him to write a weekly column on pro-life from
a doctor, a parent and a loyal Catholic's point of view. We call it "Pro-Life Prescriptions: Life is Beatufiful.
This is not a play on the movie of the same name by Roberto Benigni, but rather an affirmation of
what Almighty God created from conception: "God created man in His image. In the image of God He created him. Male and female He created them" (Genesis 1: 27) The important thing, as Dr. Joseph points out is the next verse, "Then God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.'" As creatures of free will we have a choice, but we must all be careful of what choices we make. Consider that God commanded that man multiply which is through procreation. Contraception and abortion prevent this. Each Wednesday he brings that perspective to his column in a hard-hitting tell-it-like-it is commentary on what the enemy camp - the culture of death axis - is doing and how, besides prayer, we can counter the assault.
