TRIUMPH OF
THE CROSS

Blessed Pius IXPius' portrait is unveiled to 100,000 in St. Peter's Square Though enemies of the Church tried to sabotage Blessed Pius IX's moment last week, they failed because of the facts that fly in the face of the politically correct. We separate the wheat from the chaff in clarifying the anti-semitism slurs against this beleaguered Pontiff

slanderous sharks tried to take a bite out of Pius IX's reputation    In our editorial this week on the occasion of the Blessed Virgin Mary's Birthday, we answer critics who labeled our editorial last week and the accompanying profile on Blessed Pius IX as "propaganda." First of all, when it's true, it's not propaganda! In truth, the propaganda was the anti-semitism slurs against this beleaguered Pontiff who remained loyal to the traditions and teachings of the Church when so many were bailing out, lured by the sirens of modernism and materialism. We explain why we didn't even bring up the Edgardo Mortaras episode because at that time it really wasn't major. It has only become a big issue because the squakers squeak louder and make headlines through the aid of a gullible secular media who are shallow on research and will lunge at anything to create ratings and sell papers. It is so easy to assassinate character and so difficult to reassemble it. Thankfully Pius IX escaped the vicious teeth of those pompous pirannahs and slanderous sharks as Pope John Paul II once again deftly steered the Barque of Peter through another tempest. • FRIDAY
    Birth of the Virgin Mary

On September 8th the universal Church celebrates the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the second act of God in the plan of salvation. On this day we also bring you Sister Mary Lucy Astuto's column in which she expands on Saint Augustine and the wisdom he imparted with treasured sayings that are as pertinent today as his time.
    SATURDAY
    St. Peter Claver

Saturday, September 9th is the Feast of Saint Peter Claver, the unflinching missionary priest from Spain who dedicated himself to the spiritual and physical welfare of the African people in bondage, most of whom were treated as slaves during a dark time in History. It was Peter who dubbed himself the "slave of the slaves" in serving God's persecuted people so loyally.
    SUNDAY
    Beatification ceremonies last Sunday

On September 10th we bring you His Holiness Pope John Paul II's Homily and Angelus address from the previous Sunday when he beatified the two Vatican Council Popes Blessed Pope Pius IX and Blessed John XXIII along with three others from the 19th and 20th centuries before 100,000 in St. Peter's Square.
    MONDAY

On September 11th, columnist Pat Ludwa winces as he reveals that some dioceses are going to confirm children in the second grade. He sadly foresees a wave of young soldiers of Christ who haven't got a clue and, because they will not have been tested, will struggle greatly and possibly give up the search for the Holy Grail of Truth.
    TUESDAY
    Queen of Heaven and Earth

On September 12th we bring you the ninth installment of Cyndi Cain's inspirational SYMPHONY OF SUFFERING in which she shares with all the frustration that echoes through Heaven for the Church Militant who cave to the demands of a society gone awry where animals are treated better than humans, especially the unborn species of homo sapiens. And yet we stand idly by in silent fear of upsetting the offenders of God's sacred laws as the crimes multiply.
    WEDNESDAY
You can lead a mule to water but you can't make him drink

On September 13th, the esteemed orator Saint John Chrysostom's feast day, Dr. Frank Joseph points out that you can lead a mule to water, but you can't make him drink. In other words, you can lead someone to the Bible, but you can't make him live the Holy Word as he shows us an example of just such a stubborn animal now running for President.
    THURSDAY

On September 14th, we honor the Sacrifice on Calvary with the FEAST OF THE TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS. The veneration of the Cross is the major theme of our installment on Relics and Images as part of our continuing series on APPRECIATION OF THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF OUR FAITH as we continue to examine the elements of the First Commandment.
