HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

From God the Father to Saint Joseph to each and every father in the world, we extend Father's Day Greetings to all. And always remember behind every great man is a great woman who encourages and strengthens the union as the Holy Trinity intended it. From the Blessed Virgin Mary, daughter of the Father, mother of the Son and spouse of the Holy Spirit to every wife and mom who stand by their man in answer to God's Will, all can share in the blessings of Father's Day!

Events that happened during this Holy Trinity Weekend in Church History

Pope Pius IX   On Saturday and Sunday, two events took place, both involving Pope Pius IX, the Sovereign Pontiff who enjoyed the longest pontificate in the history of the the Church - nearly 32 years. First, on June 17, 1847 in the second year of his papacy, he issued his third encyclical - Ubi primum to all religious superiors to ensure all religious would remain loyal to their vows. On June 18th twelve years later he published his 18th encyclical entitled Qui nuper, which dealt with the Pontifical States. Twelve years after ushering this encyclical, King Emmanuel would conquer the Papal States, naming them for Italy and reducing the Papal States to the Vatican City area that exists today. Though it would all turn out great in the end, for Pius IX was despondent over what he had thought was a great loss to the Church and he refused to leave the confines of Vatican City. For our Foreign editions, we still need translators!!!

We have had a few translators who have volunteered their help, but our goal is to secure at least two translators for each language in order not to put a burden on one person but spread the workload out. We still need volunteer translators for Italian, Portuguese, German and Spanish as well as more help for Russian and French. Once we have translators in place in order to polish the text to offer the DAILY CATHOLIC in these languages as it should be represented, we will launch, at first, a weekly edition in each of those languages which will be called the "Best of the DAILY CATHOLIC" for the past week. It will include the top news stories, features and timely columns along with the liturgy, devotions, and Church history timetable for the coming week.

If the Holy Spirit is prompting you, please please pray on it and then please e-mail the editor
