Celebrating the parental guidance of the mother of the Mother of God

Sister Mary Lucy Astuto   In her column this week, Sister Mary Lucy Astuto shares her devotion to Saint Anne or Saint Ann, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Mary's Divine Son Jesus. Her feast, along with her husband Saint Joachim, father of Our Lady and grandfather of Christ, will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26th and this year during the Jubilee the United States Bishops Conference has called for celebrating "Grandparents Day" on that day to extoll the virtues and stability of grandparents everywhere. Sister also shares with us how St. Ann's tomb was found and how it coorelates with Sacred Scripture. She also provides a special Novena to this devoted mother of the Mother of God. For her column, entitled Saint Ann and The Miracle of the Mother of Mary see GETTING TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Appreciation of Love for our Enemies
Today we continue our series in the search to uncover the wonderful treasures of the Church contained in the great Deposit of Faith. We present the first of a two-part installment on Love of our Enemies as explained in My Catholic Faith for Jesus has instructed all that the best way to defeat our foes is through love as He especially charges in Matthew 5: 44; 6: 15; and John 13: 15 and to forgive our enemies for the wrongs they do, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do" (Luke 23: 34). For part one in the 187th installment, see APPRECIATING THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF OUR FAITH
