We must be careful not to throw bricks for they will most certainly boomerang!

Sister Mary Lucy Astuto   In her column this week, Sister Mary Lucy Astuto looks at the lighter side and discovers that what some take lightly is a heavy burden on others. She's talking about respect for others and charity. She reminds us of the Golden Rule and that people in glass houses shouldn't throw bricks or boomerangs because what we say could come back to haunt us just as it has John Rocker of the Atlanta Braves and others who might be uncharitable in their remarks. She points out that houses where loud bricks do boomerang are in our churches where so many fail to give Jesus the proper reverence in the Holy Eucharist and turn these houses of worship into houses of loose lips. The point she makes is questioning how we can have respect and charity for others if we have none for ourselves or our Maker. For her column, entitled Who's getting respect? see GETTING TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Appreciation of Love of Self
Today we continue our series in the search to uncover the wonderful treasures of the Church contained in the great Deposit of Faith. We present the second of a two-part installment on Love of Self as explained in My Catholic Faith for though it sounds egotistic, we need to love ourselves as temples of the Holy Spirit for God demands we take care of both our spiritual and physical well-being. For part two in the 184th installment, see APPRECIATING THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF OUR FAITH
