Events that happened today in Church History

Pope Saint Pius I Pope Benedict VII    Tuesday is the 1,845th anniversary of the death of the tenth successor of Peter, the Holy Pope Saint Pius I, the first in a long illustrious line of great Pontiffs named Pius. It was Pius I who, during his 15 year papacy, formulated rules for the conversion of Jews and established Easter as the first Sunday after the March full moon. He also was renowned for opposing the agnostic Marcus who tried to stir and fragment the Christians. Monday is the 1,017th anniversary of the death of another Sovereign Pontiff - Pope Benedict VII whose pontificate lasted nine years. He was a man of great virtue who promoted monasticism and monastic reform, endeavoring to return to the high ideals Saint Benedict had intended when he founded the Benedictines in 530. Benedict VII also strove to curtail the debauchery and shameful ignorance flooding through Europe during the height of the dark ages. He is also remembered for promoting the development of agriculture believing in the axiom, "feed a man, he's set for a day; teach a man to farm he's set for life." For our Foreign editions, we still need translators!!!

We have had a few translators who have volunteered their help, and are pretty well set to launch a Spanish edition in August. However we need others to come forward for Italian, Portuguese, French, German and Russian so we wll have at least two translators for each language in order not to put a burden on one person but spread the workload out. Once we have translators in place in order to polish the text to offer the DAILY CATHOLIC in these languages as it should be represented, we will launch, at first, a weekly edition in each of those languages which will be called the "Best of the DAILY CATHOLIC" for the past week. It will include the top news stories, features and timely columns along with the liturgy, devotions, and Church history timetable for the coming week. We are presently planning to debut Diario Cattolico on the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Assumption.

If the Holy Spirit is prompting you, please please pray on it and then please e-mail the editor
