ABORTION CLINIC EMPLOYEE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH PROTEST
LOS ANGELES, AUGUST 13 (ZENIT.org)
In reaction to the Democratic
National Convention, many pro-life groups are stepping up their
peaceful protests of abortion clinics. Surprisingly, the first
arrest by the Los Angeles Police Department was of an abortion
clinic worker rather than a protester.
When police arrived on the scene of Her Medical Clinic, they
witnessed a clinic worker attacking Operation Rescue director Troy
Newman who was demonstrating on the sidewalk. The clinic worker was
charged with assault and battery.
The attack and arrest occurred shortly after an Operation Rescue
press conference about the peaceful protests that would be held. "It
is ironic that this happened just minutes after we held a press
conference contrasting the difference between our peaceful protests
and other protest groups who use violence to get out their message.
I can think of nothing that illustrates my point more clearly than
this arrest and jailing of an abortion clinic worker for assault and
battery," stated Newman.
