On Sexagesima Sunday we begin the Thirty-Day Novena to Saint Joseph in preparation for the feast on March 19 of the earthly father of Jesus, chaste husband and protector of Our Lady and Patron of the Universal Church as well as so many other worthy titles. Just click the icon to the left for the short daily prayer or longer one, depending on whatever time your state in life allows for this and the holy Rosary.

We urgently ask if you can contribute anything in these tight times, we would be so appreciative for the coffers are truly bare. Think of all the untold millions that were thrown into the election process this past year. If you've contributed to a campaign, can't you spare a crumb for this apostolate to convert apostates? If you are still in the category of the lukewarm, then you will pass over this plea and move on to the next thing that tickles your fancy. But if you truly want to commit, we offer you the opportunity to put that commitment into action for the good of saving souls by donating now. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the links here or send a check/money order to the address on the donation form. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward a bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the CONciLIAR collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"? I thank you in advance for any donation you can send.

Our Lady of Lourdes

The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes highlights the last day in the Time after Epiphany. We complete the Nine-Day Novena to her with the Novena Prayers at Catholic Harbor of Faith and Morals, which is an excellent traditional Catholic site with so many devotional prayers and information that we heartily recommend you peruse this site for all the orthodox gems they offer for enhancing one's spiritual life.

We can use all the aids and knowledge possible to maintain the true Faith in the face of the aggressive Great Apostasy that has eclipsed the true Church of Christ. That is why trust in Our Lady's words in reaffirming Catholic truth are so vital and why the story of Lourdes continues to this day with the healing waters, albeit tainted by the CONciLIAR infiltration that has diluted the authority of Our Lady's purpose, eclipsing the altars by placing tables up against and apart from the holy altars and totally vulgarizing the sacred sanctuaries of Lourdes and everywhere else practically throughout France and the world. Such are the bitter fruits of the Great Apostasy over the past 50 years. It was His Holiness Pope St. Pius X who established this feast in 1907, the very same year he issued the decree Pascendi Domenici Gregis condemning Modernism. Looking back nearly seventeen years ago now, we can see the significance Lourdes played in our own personal lives for it was the healing waters that cured us of our blindness to truly see what was wrong in the Church. Our Lady peeled the scales from our pupils and our souls to begin to realize true Popes could not possibly have perpetuated the progressive agenda and alter doctrine the way the Vatican 2 'popes' had done by embracing heresies condemned by previous true reliable Popes. Our epiphany was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with the only alternative possible to assure the gates of hell have not prevailed: Sedevacantism.

And that is something that is fast coming to the forefront where those in the Recognize-and-Resist camps, that is, those who recognize the Vatican 2 'popes' as true, but choose to resist what they teach or say, will have to come to a decision soon. Either they are in schism by clinging to the belief that the Church can teach error, contrary to what His Holiness Pope Pius IX decreed in "Pastor Aeternus" that "the See of Peter always remains unimpaired by any error", or they will realize there is no other alternative but to admit the Chair of Peter is vacant and, despite the financial hit they might take for such a "radical idea" that they claim is "untenable", begin to truly realize the salvation of their souls must take priority over worldly wealth and the approval of man. If Mr. Jorge Mario Bergoglio, aka "Francis", is not proof of this veering from the true Faith into heresy and apostasy, I don't know what will wake them from their stupor.    Since this is the Blessed Mother's year with the 100-year anniversary of Fatima, and to acknowledge this last universally Church-approved apparition that carries so much weight and urgency from her plea to pray the holy Rosary daily to how many souls go to hell for the sins of the flesh, and, of course the mysterious Third Secret that has yet to be revealed despite the bogus one in 2000, we continue honoring her each and every day this year with something not bogus: We honor her with one of her titles over the centuries from countries all around the world. We provide the link to more on her title and about each particular apparition each day via the links provided beneath each day's Holy Sacrifice of the Mass Proper graphic on these pages. Most are from the web site Roman Catholic Saints

Four women are honored this week. Besides Our Lady, we commemorate the hoy virgin and Martyr St. Agatha on Sunday, followed by a commemoration of another Virgin and Martyr St. Dorothy on the feast of holy Disciple and Martyr St. Titus on Monday. Then on Friday we honor St. Scholastica, blood sister of St. Benedict. From Tuesday through Thursday we celebrate three holy Confessors, St. Romuald, Abbot, St. John of Matha, and on February 9 the holy Doctor of the Church St. Cyril of Alexandria who was Defender of Theotokos.

Yes, we have put away the green until June 16 as we enter what the Church calls the Season of Easter. Now many will say, Wait a minute, that doesn't start until Easter Sunday." Technically, yes, as far as celebrating the Resurrection of Our Lord, but the season lasts from Septuagesima Sunday up to Pentecost Sunday. This short time of Septuagesima that incorporates this week, Sexagesima week and three days of Quinquagesima before Ash Wednesday officially kicks off Lent is a time of preparation with purple the vestment of the Church. Just as the Church asks us to arrive early enough to prepare for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass by being in the proper frame of mind, so also she gives us these seventeen days to be in the proper frame of mind for Lent. It's a dress rehearsal, if you will, for Lent. In fact, this entire week is composed of Feria Masses except for Saturday when we observe the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday.

The renowned Benedictine Abbot Dom Prosper Gueranger provides reflections for the Epistle for Septuagesima in "Racing for a Heavenly Prize"from his magnificent 15-volume opus The Liturgical Year. John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary for Septuagesima on the Gospel "By the sweat of man's brow" and Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI delivers a 16-minute sermon Laboring for the Lord Both point out it's not how long a man labors for Christ, but that he does all he can in the time he has.

Ark of the Covenant
As we reach the sixtieth day before Easter in liturgical terms, it is important to realize, as Jesus tells us, that only seed planted upon good ground will bear good fruit. Those sowing seeds on rocky ground or sand will fall away for they are not nourished with truth, and only the truth will set you free to mix Gospels, so to speak, in also adding that a bad tree cannot bear good fruit and it is, after all, by their fruit you shall know them. Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI provides fertile soil with his sermon "Practice Virtues". Also throughout this week, the renowned Benedictine Abbot Dom Prosper Gueranger offers reflections each day for Sexagesima Week beginning on Sunday with Seeds of Faith from his benchmark tome The Liturgical Year on true Catholicism and the traditional liturgy. The Haydock Commentary for Sexagesima provided by John Gregory shows the importance of our having our roots firmly implanted in the fertile soil of the Faith. Our Lord illustrates that those not firmly nurtured will fall away when temptation and the sirens of the world, the flesh, and the devil lure them from the straight and narrow as we see in Rooted in Faith We are also reminded that if we are caught up in the world, the flesh and the devil, we can be readily assured that rocky ground will be barren when it comes time for the harvest. If we do not KNOW our Faith, the true Faith and practice it, we will be like those on the sand, such as those Catholics in their comfort zone of the CONciLIAR church who don't want to take the extra effort to truly connect the dots, afraid of realizing their fruits will be fruitless unless they reach out for the good ground, yet knowing this, still remain in the sand, committing the sin of presumption that God will still save them at the harvest, while they remain on shifting soil afraid to dig deeper for they are not truly rooted in the Faith, or don't want to acknowledge they've chosen the wrong place to plant.

That is why our main purpose here at the DailyCatholic is to provide the necessary tools so that all may sow good seed in the fertile soil of Catholic truth from St. Peter through Pope Pius XII in order to reap an everlasting harvest. After two Feria days, the Church honors three saints in succession who did provide an abundance at harvest time and now enjoy being in the presence of the Beatific Vision are the first Pope of the Church St. Peter as we celebrate his feast of the Chair of Antioch. We could very well have been speaking Greek or Aramaic if Peter had not matriculated from Antioch to Rome. On Thursday we honor another who took the Apostle's first name. That would be Saint Peter Damian, the holy Bishop and Doctor of the Church who was the Guiding Light in the Dark Ages Indeed, he was the Guiding Light in the Dark Ages. These times are also dark ages, just as it seemed following the Ascension when the Apostles chose St. Matthias (whose Double of the Second Class feast is Friday) to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot.

Watch for special Lenten Edition on Ash Wednesday

We have reached the stretch run into Lent with the short week of Quinquagesima as we all prepare for the penitential season beginning on Ash Wednesday this week. We see in Sunday's Gospel that the blind man had such faith in Jesus that he knew he would be healed and he was for as Our Lord told him, "thy faith hath made thee whole". That is the theme of the Quinquagesima Haydock Commentary provided by John Gregory. What we need to have, that belief and faith that God can heal anything, not necessarily physically, but spiritually and all we need do is ask and He will be there. Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI helps us prepare for Lent with his 10-minute sermon for Quinquagesima Sunday on Penance, Penance as we all need to keep in mind the words we shall hear in just a few short days,"Memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris" - "Remember, man, that thou art dust, and unto dust thou shalt return". Throughout this short week, we bring you not only three more inspiring reflections from the esteemed Benedictine Abbot Dom Prosper Gueranger Abbe Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B. continues his reflections for these three days leading to March 1 as he explains the Meaning of Quinquagesima, followed by When God calls will we respond? and Reflections for Shrove Tuesday. On Shrove Tuesday, also the feast of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin we present from The Prophesies and Revelations of St. Bridget of Sweden with A soul on trial at Judgment Time where we are given a front row seat to what our own Particular Judgment could be like. It's worth the read so we all will amend our ways for while God is all-merciful, He is also all-just, and His Justice will not be mocked. What has been mocked is Our Lord through the "abomination of desolation" which is the Novus Ordo and what the current Marxist occupant of the CONciLIAR church of Vatican 2 Mr. Jorge Bergoglio is advancing: a one world religion in his effort to destroy all vestiges of true Catholicism.

We encourage you to learn more about the Traditional Latin Mass - the true Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in these videos at this link because each time you worthily assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in person, you gain graces that are placed in a "golden chalice", so to speak, and is offered to God to be weighed in substance when you stand before Him at your Particular Judgment. The more you have filled this chalice, the better will it go for your spiritual welfare in eternity, enhanced by your cooperation with grace. Know the Mass

To assist all in striving toward holiness, click on the Confessional to your right to review your transgressions through a thorough Examination of Conscience

When One Cannot physically assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we provide additional prayers that can be supplemented with the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and the PROPER OF THE DAY to enable you to better prepare yourself at home. Of course, this never replaces actually being there, but it is much better than attending the Novus Ordo services. Therefore we have gleaned from The Key of Heaven prayers to say at home. It is very comforting to know that the Holy Mass is offered for us even when we are not actually present. But to enjoy the benefits which it procures, we must by a SPIRITUAL COMMUNION become partakers of the altar from which we are temporarily banished. Here we provide prayers in preparation for fulfilling assistance in absentia in addition to the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and PROPER OF THE DAY. PRAYERS IN ABSENTIA

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute, in infernum detrude. Amen.

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds, hide me.
Permit me to never be separated from Thee.
From the malicious enemy, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
And bid me to come to unto Thee
That with Thy Saints I may praise Thee
Forever and ever. Amen.

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.
Passio Christi, conforta me.
O bone Iesu, exaudi me.
Intra Tua vulnera absconde me.
Ne permittas me separari a Te.
Ab hoste maligno defende me.
In hora mortis meae voca me.
Et iube me venire ad Te,
Ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te
in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

The Fatima Prayers

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee; and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee.
(repeat the above 3 times then bow your head in reciting the following:)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in tabernacles throughout the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in unison with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Prayer Before the Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst fix deep within my heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, whilst with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds; having before my eyes the words which David in prophesy spoke concerning Thee, O Good Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."

Pope Pius IX, July 31, 1858

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Amen.

Novena to St. Joseph

From February 18 on the traditional feast of St. Simeon (to whom the Holy Family submitted at the Presentation) to March 19 we pray the Novena to good St. Joseph, foster-father of the Son of God Jesus Christ and chaste spouse of the Mother of God. He is the patron of the Universal Church. It is taken from The Key of Heaven, A Manual of Prayer by the Rt. Rev. J. Milner, DD, published with the Imprimatur of His Eminence James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, 1898 and said over a 30-day period to obtain a happy death and other good intentions asked in petition. Most traditionally said 30 days prior to the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19. We provide the short Novena Prayer below:

O Glorious Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, to thee do we raise our hearts and hands, to implore thy powerful intercession in obtaining from the benign Heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the a favor we now implore

(Add your petition here)
O Glorious St. Joseph! Through the love thou bearest to Jesus Christ and for the glory of His name, hear our prayers and obtain our petitions. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist us!

Indulgenced Prayers in honor of St. Joseph

O holy Joseph, that, ever secure under thy protection, we may pass our lives without sin. (Indulgence of 300 days.)

St. Joseph, foster-father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and true spouse of Mary ever Virgin, pray for us. (Indulgence of 300 days.)

St. Joseph, model and patron of those who love the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us. (Indulgence of 300 days.)

    •    As much as we hate to beg, we have no choice. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide such and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below or send a check/money order to the address below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward any bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the conciliar collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"?
