This second edition for August - ends with the apex feast of the month the Solemnity of the Assumption into Heaven of the Blessed Virgin Mary after her dormition. All through this week we continue the Novena in preparation for her wonderful feast on Saturday. This year the feast of the Cure d'Ars, the holy no-nonsense St. Jean Marie Vianney is superseded by the eleventh Sunday after Pentecost, but we provide a sermon by the no-nonsense parish priest of France On the Lukewarmness of Souls. On Monday we observe the feast of the holy martyr St. Lawrence who is reported to say, "you can turn me over, I'm done on this side" as he was grilled on the hot irons. Tuesday is a special feast for all who reject Vatican II because it is the feast of the holy virgin and martyr St. Philomena who was abandoned by the CONciLIAR church, but is still so dear to true Catholic hearts and is known for many miracles. We complete the Novena to her on her feast day. The feast of the Poor Clares' holy foundress and virgin St. Clare is celebrated on Wednesday. Then after a Feria Day where the holy martyrs Sts. Hippolytus and Cassian are commemorated, we have the feast of the holy confessor - St. Euseubius, who shares his feast with the Vigil of the Assumption. On the vigil we begin the 9-Day Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary leading to her feast on August 22 in the month dedicated to her. Of course, Saturday is a Holy Day of Obligation. It is vital to realize that Pope Pius XII officially declared ex cathedra the Dogma of the Assumption on November 1, 1950. It was the last infallible dogmatic proclamation ushered from Rome bar none.          What the True Church really teaches

     Help us reach more souls

The Gospel for the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost features Christ healing a man who was deaf and dumb by merely placing His hands on the man's ears and tongue, using His spittle He exclaimed "Be thou opened" and the man could hear and speak again. Today this equates with the countless Catholics who are indeed deaf to the truth and dumb by their silence, if not their brains to realize what has happened to the only Church Jesus instituted on earth where the "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". It would seem the gates have shackled what to the world appears as the Catholic Church today, but in essence, is nothing but an evil imposter posing as Catholic while stripping her of all semblance of Catholicity. Yet so many remain blind, deaf and dumb to it all, going along to get along without realizing how wrong they are and how they will have to account for their actions or inactions at their Particular Judgment when it will be too late to make excuses or say 'I didn't know'. That is why we have continued to publish the DailyCatholic and link you to reliable, trusted sites so you can't say you didn't know. That is why we provide the Haydock Commentary for each Sunday courtesy of John Gregory. That is why, thanks to Traditional Catholic Sermons we're able to bring you a pertinent sermon for the deaf to hear and this week Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI focuses on the epistle in showing how St. Paul's words should encourage us to seek the grace of God for God's Grace is Great. Yes, it means leaving the comfort zone you've erroneously grown accustomed to, but it's time all realized that we owe our allegiance not to men who violate the Faith, but to God and all that His holy Catholic Church passed down from Peter through the last true Pope - His Holiness Pope Pius XII of happy memory. Since then the wolves have invaded and engulfed souls in their wicked jaws. The six imposters you see here could never be true Popes as previous true Popes have decreed as is documented to the right.

When you discover what the True Church teaches you'll realize that ever since the death of His Holiness Pope Pius XII , the Catholic Church hasn't been the same. That's right, and Jesus tells us why. Because what poses as 'Catholic' today, governed by those usurping the authority in Rome and dioceses throughout the world, is a false church - an arrogant, out-of-control, failing man-made religion that has eclipsed the humble true Church consigned in these times to the catacombs. Our Lord shows us in Sunday's gospel His mercy in healing those willing to be healed, but He is also equally just and those who presume on His mercy may be left in the dust. Jesus identifies these proud modedrnists who have eclipsed the true Church quite clearly in St. Matthew 7: 15 that we must beware of the false prophets who may appear in clothing of sheep, but inwardly we must recognize them as ravening wolves or worse. If the faithful couldn't see the "abomination of desolation" (St. Matthew 24:15) and devious destruction of the true Faith during the regimes of the first five imposters since Pius' passing, they should surely see it now as Roman-born Argentine Mr. Jorge Bergoglio continues his agenda to wipe out any vestiges of Catholic truth that would be offensive to non-Catholics in his Marxist mindset to please man, not God through his humanist efforts to form a One World Religion. If one reads St. Paul's warning in 2 Thessalonians 2: 3-11 and what many would do in 2 Timothy 4: 3-4, we can more readily see what Our Lord meant in St. Luke 18:8 when He asked rhetorically if there would be any one of faith left when He returns.

How do we restore the sacred? How do we wake up the masses as to what constitutes a true Mass and that those in the CONciLIAR church of Vatican 2 do not have it? First of all, we pray. Then we inform so the deaf may hear and the dumb speak out the truths from the rooftops. Out of all reliable sources verifying the above, NovusOrdoWatch provides the best play-by-play of the implosion of the counterfeit CONciLIAR church and the schemes toward a One World Order which is intent on erasing all true spirituality from this planet. Others worth checking on daily are Christorchaos.com for articles and links, as well as True Restoration and the following blogs that we heartily recommend Introibo Ad Altare Dei, Fr. Anthony Cekada's Quidlibet, Bishop Donald Sanborn's In Veritate, and the satirical, but on-point Call Me Jorge. We also point you to Traditio which, although the Father Moderators will not admit the term "sedevacantism", 95% of what they provide reinforces this position. Note, we provide here those sites that carry almost daily coverage and in no way demean other sites that update more infreqently. For those sites, please see Traditional Catholic Resource Port.

The only obstacle to totally dominating as a totalitarian society is the Roman Catholic Church. Always has been. Since the death of the last true Sovereign Pontiff Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958 that wall of resistance has been steadily crumbling thanks to those with a worldly Marxist bent to accept the world and please man rather than God as is so evident today. Oh, the devil is laughing, but he seems to forget Genesis 3:15 where the Blessed Virgin Mary will crush his head with her heel. Oh, we can't wait! Until then, it's important to expose the wolves just as the holy Doctor of the Church St. Francis de Sales advises for the sake of informing souls of the dangers these charlatans pose.

It's also important that Protestants of every fabric, as well as those wedded to the dead-end Novus Ordo and its apparatchiks, realize Jesus founded only ONE Church upon the Rock of Peter and "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (St. Matthew 16: 18). Just the fact the fortifications are crumbling is evidence the church since the 60's is not the true Church for if it were, then the conclusion would have to be Jesus was wrong. That is blasphemy. Ergo, we need only revert to the Act of Faith we say every day wherein we pray "We believe these and all the truths of the holy Catholic Church because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived." Just the fact so many souls have been deceived proves it is not from God, but of His adversary lucifer and his legions. Also the fact that all other religions formed over the last two millennia Anno Domini were founded by men who thought they had a better idea than God give credence that they were all founded upon error. Thus Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodist, Baptist, Mormons, etc. may call themselves Christians, but considering they subscribe to a sect that broke from the true Church, and thus have abandoned their stewardship as God expects, this should have them quaking in their boots for unbeknownst to them, most have embraced Mammon. We say that not to denigrate those born into or taking up a false religion, but to "Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine" as St. Paul urges in 2 Timothy 4: 2. For the Apostle of the Gentiles was given to know as he warned in the next two verses: "For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables."

The vast majority of Protestants and Novus Ordinarians do not realize this and it is left to true Catholics to inform them, to reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. Basically it means upsetting their comfort zone. They may not like it, they may put up their defenses or do as so many do, change the subject and get away as fast as they can. But if we, as true faithful Catholics who abide by the infallible, perennial Magisterium of nearly 2000 years, do not do as Paul instructs in verse five to be vigilant, labor in all things, and do the work of an evangelist to fulfill our ministry while keeping sober, then we will be held accountable for our stewardship and face bad news at our Particular Judgment. We may not win friends with our persistence to proclaim the truth, but if we can convert souls, that's all that counts with God. Man has a free will. That is something to remember and when rebuked, then shake the sandals and move on. After all, all Our Lord asks is that we try. He'll do the rest. We conclude with the reminder of what Christ says in St. Luke 18: 7-8, "And will not God revenge His elect who cry to Him day and night: and will He have patience in their regard? I say to you, that He will quickly revenge them. But yet the Son of man, when He cometh, shall He find, think you, faith on earth?" The truth is there is little faith left and it is dwindling by the day. It all makes sense today and it makes sense to take our stewardship seriously and commit our efforts to restore the sacred by driving the apostates out so that the churches can someday, in God's time, become truly Catholic churches again after they are re-consecrated with the filth washed away.

That brings us to the purpose here for we've noticed a lot of chatter on the twitter lately asking questions about the legitimacy of the Novus Ordo or challenging theological opinions because almost everyone admits something is wrong, actually seriously wrong. Therefore, we are bringing back in installments and alternating each day between the irrefutable work The Great Sacrilege by the late Father James F. Wathen that he published way back in 1971. No one, to this day, has been able to refute what he laid out so clearly. The Novus Ordo is not only wrong, it is "The Great Sacrilege", something every Catholic needs to know before they realize too late what Traditional Catholics know: it is truly the "abomination of desolation" foretold by Our Lord in St. Matthew 24: 15 and prior to that by Daniel in the Old Testament. On alternate days we are bringing back each chapter of the Prophesies and Revelations to St. Bridget of Sweden that will hopefully clear up the confusion, and in an effort for each person to intensify their spiritual life, to strive toward holiness. Thus we present this inspiration to meditate on the contents of each short chapter and not be overwhelmed by too much in your journey to truth. It's really, in truth, an inside to the mind of God and how we should live just as His bride St. Bridget was instructed. You see here so beautifully depicted St. Bridget in the painting by Michelle R. Maher. To see a larger copyrighted image click on the painting or here.

So while the Marxist apostate Mr. Bergoglio the unFrancis continues to proclaim ever so boldly collective salvation, we must realize each one of us is responsible for our own salvation and we've been given the blueprint before Vatican Two. Guess what? It still works. Guess what else? The new-fangled CONciLIAR religion doesn't work. Never will. That is why we find more waking up after praying for the grace to see, truly see, and that is where twitter can be a great means of conversion one soul at a time. That's why, to paraphrase an axiom in less than 140 characters, brevity is the soul of witnessing as we ask you to follow the DailyCatholic on Twitter

While we see the edifications of the saints throughout the traditional liturgy each year, we also must be aware of their adversaries who work tirelessly to dissuade souls from pursuing holiness. This is not something that has just happened, but was percolating for centuries and only came to the surface over the past fifty plus years with the cabal that corrals Catholics today with the notion that doctrine evolves and that everyone goes to Heaven. Again, to alert souls to this deception, what we all must do is...

We urge you to join the 15-week Rosary Crusade organized several years ago by Bishop Robert McKenna, O.P. to do our part for the salvation of souls by bringing souls to the true Catholic Faith and Sacraments, for the welfare of our country, and for our own special intentions as we all strive for holiness in our role as members of the Church Militant. We all need to continue to pray the Holy Rosary as often as our states in life permit. We arrive this week on the Solemnity of the Assumption at the seventh Saturday of the 15 Saturdays Rosary Crusade where the intention, coinciding with the second sorrowful mystery - the Scourging at the Pillar - is love of contempt. Probably few times in history have Christians been more reviled than in our day when the godless seem to be stifling free speech. But we should not limit our Rosary to one day a week. In fact there is now a way where you can join others in praying the Holy Rosary on ROSARY CALL where Tom Gilbrough from Mt. St. Michael's in Spokane has set up a conference call every evening at 8 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. On the east coast this would be 11 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Central 10 p.m., and 9 p.m. Mountain time. Just call 712-775-7031 then, when answered, punch in access 393-323# You are encouraged to call in 5 to 10 minutes early to prepare to share the Holy Rosary with others. You can follow along with the prayers of the Rosary if you do not know them by going to Holy Rosary port The Rosary is the most powerful weapon we have. Connect those beads. Also, each day we continue to share here with you this month a continuing stanza a day from the hymns of the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception in honor of this month dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Though I have already personally thanked each of those who have answered our plea here at SANCTUS/DailyCatholic, I want to publicly acknowledge their sharing and caring. To date we've raised just over $2,460.00 but are still a little more than $2,500.00 short of our necessary goal to continue publishing. As mentioned a few editions ago, almsgiving is part and parcel of salvation for we cannot take it with us and how we distribute our treasure and talents on this earth goes a long, long way toward what the verdict will be when we stand before the Supreme Judge at our Particular Judgment. The more who realize this, the more peace of mind they will have. We are not a church. Yet we have been a traditional apostolate professing, proclaiming and promoting the infrangible truths of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church for a quarter of a century. During this period we have always depended upon the mercy of our readers and benefactors and God has always provided, with the Holy Ghost prompting souls to donate. As you know, this long-running publication has always used that analogy for this publication in inviting all to "set sail with DailyCatholic.org" We can confidently say, without a shadow of a doubt for all the years we've been publishing on-line, that we've never steered one soul wrong in all we've published. For our content has been in 100% accord with the infallible, perennial Magisterium of the Church firmly aboard the true Barque of Peter. Speaking of vessels, over the last year we've been taking on water even in a drought year, no less, due to a bilge of bills. To stay afloat we need to turn to you our readers. It has been well over a year since this editor made a plea for funds. Prior to that my beloved late bride Cyndi would write a heartfelt plea and benefactors would respond generously. With her gone, I'm not too good at asking for money, but purveyors need to be paid so necessity is the mother of invention and I have to ask. Speaking of mothers and Cyndi, it was Henry Ward Beecher who said "The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." I can confidently say before God I loved their mother dearly and dearly hope that what we imparted as parents will sustain them in this chaotic world where the secular demons of the world, the flesh and the devil have eclipsed Christ's holy Church, chasing the faithful remnant into the catacombs of sedevacantist churches and chapels. That is where we are today, isolated, if you will, from the vast majority because of our belief in the true Faith. But belief alone, as strong as it is, isn't, unfortunantely, strong enough to move mountains or meet expenditures that continue to increase as the economy teeters. Therefore, of the $5,000.00 needed for this apostolate to continue as it has we're still $3,000.00 short. I set that amount for we have always budgeted $25,000. a year in donations and to date since January the total is $9,000. and we're past the half-way point of the year. Hopefully you can more readily see the deficit and why the DailyCatholic's plight is nearing a crisis point. I would hope and pray you will see in your heart the compassion to help and we remind you with the graphic below, repeated each day. We remind you we are a bonafide 501c3 non-profit so any and all contributions are tax-deductible. I also remind you that this editor does not take one penny in salary. It remains a labor of love. Now I just ask for a little love from our readers by clicking the graphic below to take you to our Donation page. Thank you in advance.

There is a commemoration today for St. John Mary Vianney who was born at Dardilly, France, in 1786. He was a farm-hand until his nineteenth year, when he began his studies for the priesthood. His talents were poor, and his progress slow. He was ordained at Grenoble in 1815; he became parish priest of Ars in 1818. That little town was the scene of his marvelous labors until his holy death, August 4, 1859.
He was canonized May 31, 1925, by Pope Plus XI. For forty years his food and sleep were insufficient to sustain human life; during the last ten years of his life he spent from from sixteen to eighteen hours a day in the confessional. Enlightened by God, he could read hearts and soften the most hardened sinner. He healed the sick and cast out devils; like his Master he was openly persecuted, calumniated and hated by wicked men. His little parish attracted thousands of people. Towards the end of his life 58,000 people visited Ars in a single year. He founded an orphanage for girls, trusting its support to Divine Providence. He had the gift of prophecy, and told many ...More

Novena to St. Philomena
Day Seven

For the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary where we see how St. Paul gives witness that only through the grace of God has he been able to accomplish what God has aided, elevated and cured of sin. That is the message of the Gospel indicating that the deaf and blind man represents the spiritual blindness and deafness mankind has contracted by turning from God and embracing the chaotic din of the world, the flesh and the devil which, ironically, causes spiriritual deafness and dumbness. Really dumb! Yet, with just one word from our Lord "Ephpheta" the man in the gospel is healed. So also by absolution in the Sacrament of Penance by a valid, truly ordained priest, can one's soul be similarly healed. Just a simple Ephpheta proves Christ's point

Thanks to Traditional Catholic Sermons we are able to bring you a 13-minute sermon from threea years ago for the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI, Rector of St. Joseph Seminary at the City of Mary in Rathdrum, Idaho. Father highlights St. Paul's words that he is who he is by the grace of God. So also we have rituals in the Church as well as society so that we have outward manifestations that are in harmony with the heart. Ceremony is important and Jesus shows through His actions in today's gospel how He healed the blind man, by spittle as an outward sign that all remembered and spread the word that "He has done all things well." Father reminds us that the way we live, we are preaching to others the holy Faith. How well do we live our faith? It is by the grace of God that we have the opportunity to share our faith and bring others to the truth and enlighten souls on the wonderful epiphany of how God's Grace is Great

This holy Cure of Ars holds nothing back in exacting a thorough examination of our souls, consciences and habits. By and large Traditional Catholics live their daily lives free of mortal sin, but how many of us seriously take the Cure of Ars' words seriously enough to move out of whatever comfort zone we are in at the present and strive to love God more, to be more aware of His role for each of us, and to manifest our choice of God over the world? That is a question St. Jean Marie Vianney asks. How will we answer? His words are as applicable today, even moreso, than in his time as parish vicar in the post French Revolution days of the first half of the 19th century, and onee thing remains the same as he speaks On the Lukewarmness of Souls

      Hail, Solomon's throne,
           Pure ark of the law,
      Fair rainbow and bush
           Which the patriarch saw.
From Tierce in the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception

Day Four

After the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul this is the greatest festival in the ancient Roman Liturgy. The terrible martyrdom endured by the famous archdeacon deeply impressed the generations that came immediately after him, for whom Saint Lawrence became at Rome that which Saint Stephen had been at Jerusalem. During the persecutions under Valerian in 258, numerous priests and bishops were put to death, while Christians belonging to ...More

Novena to St. Philomena
Day Eight

It was back in September 2001 that we contacted Fr. James F. Wathen, O.S.J. about printing excerpts of his landmark work "The Great Sacrilege" and he went further by granting permission to publish on line his entire book first published in 1971. Forty-four years later his work has yet to be challenged on how the Novus Ordo is the Great Sacrilege. With every passing day more confusion rains down on souls as they struggle to make heads or tails of all the changes that have made the CONciLIAR church, formed at Vatican Two, totally unrecognizable to Catholicism. The facts are that it is because it no longer is Catholic. It is the result of the axiom, lex orandi, lex credendi - in other words, how one prays is how one believes, or literally, the law of praying is the law of believing. Over the past 50 years it has grown progressively worse and that is because the so-called 'law' is the abominable vulgar Novus Ordo and, because Bergoglio has decided that is the only rite everyone must attend, it is more important than ever that we reshare with all readers why this is wrong as you'll begin to see in the Backgrounder

      Hail, Gideon's fleece,
           Hail, blossoming rod,
      Samson's sweet honeycomb,
           Portal of God.

Day Five

August 11 is the Traditional historical feast of Saint Philomena. The tomb of this virgin and martyr, unknown until the first years of the 19th century, was providentially discovered in 1802 in the catacombs. God by many miracles made the discovery of Saint Philomena's body famous, and the cult of the young Saint spread everywhere with ...More

Day Six

With so many new readers, we've decided to go retro with the revelations to St. Bridget of Sweden, here so beautifully depicted in the painting by Michelle R. Maher. To see a larger copyrighted image click on the painting here. We return to Book One once again and the first chapter in bringing you these meditations on the wondrous, Church-approved, plethora of prophesies revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden in the fourteenth century which, as you reflect on Our Lord's words to her, you will realize they hold even truer in our very time today. That is also why we will alternate days with Fr. Wathen's work so you can see how it balances out with what Heaven imparted to St. Bridget and how the Great Apostasy today should be recognized in the sacrilegious Protestant/Pagan service known as the invalid Novus Ordo Missae. In clearing up the confusion and in an effort for each person to intensify their spiritual life and strive toward holiness, we present this inspiration to meditate on the contents of each short chapter and not be overwhelmed by too much. Thus we present Christ's First Words to His Bride

      Well fitting it was
           That a Son so Divine
      Should preserve from all touch
           Of original sin.
From Tierce in the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception

Saint Clare, born at Assisi in Umbria, was the first of the holy virgins whom St. Francis, consecrating to God, bound to Christlike poverty. On a visit to St. Francis, she expressed to him her desire to become a Spouse of Christ. To St. Francis had been given a little chapel called the Portiuncula by the Benedictine abbot of Monte Subasio. St. Francis gave to Clare the rule of St. Benedict to follow, as he desired to graft his new foundation on to the old Order, so as to give it a canonical basis, one already recognized by Holy Church. St. Francis determined that Clare should not imitate the rich convents of Benedictines then in Umbria, but should go ...More

Novena in preparation for the Solemnity of the Assumption
Day Seven

We begin today installments from the late Father James F. Wathen's irrefutable work "The Great Sacrilege", written back in 1971 when few had a clue what the devil was planning. As Father wrote, Even though most Catholics, including the Hierarchy and other members of the clergy, have been either complacently ignorant of it, or stubbornly determined to ignore it, sooner or later the question of the "New Mass" will have to be dealt with by all the sheeple who continue to wallow in their Vatican 2 comfort zone while realizing something is seriously wrong. But rather than leave that comfort zone, it's easier for them to presume that, with time, those who oppose and/or reject the changes of V2, and those priests who refuse to "say" the "New Mass," will finally come around, die off, or something. We know that won't happen. Thus we encourage the confused to recognize what is true. We commence with Father's Introduction

    Nor suffer by smallest
         Defect to be stained,
    That Mother whom He
         For Himself had ordained. Amen.

    I dwell in the highest.
And my throne is on the pillar of the clouds.
    O Lady, hear my prayer.
And let my cry come unto thee.

Day Eight

With so many new readers, we continue with the revelations to St. Bridget of Sweden as inspiration and meditation, as well as serving as an examination of conscience for Jesus has said not all who say 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of Heaven and these approved messages to the humble Bridget centuries ago should encourage us to remember St. Paul's words that we must work out our salvation in fear and trembling. In other words, don't take your salvation for granted. We need to heed God's will and stay on the narrow path. We present Chapter Two of Book one where Our Lord's words to His daughter Bridget, whom He has taken as His bride, focuses on the articles of the true Faith and a formula for the kind of adornments, tokens, and desires His bride must have in order to please the Bridegroom. We see this in chapter two Heed Christ's Words

      Hail, Virginal Mother,
           Hail, purity's cell,
      Fair shrine where the Trinity
           Loveth to dwell.
From Sext in the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception

As early as the Seventh Century the preparation, by a solemn fast, for keeping devoutly the great festival of the Assumption, is described as a custom of great antiquity. In many parts of the Church the strict fast enjoined lasted over several days. The Mass celebrated on this day is of Our Blessed Lady, on account of its being that of a vigil, and is said in purple vestments, and the Gloria in excelsis is omitted. ...More

Included in the Vigil Mass is a commemoration today of Saint Eusebius, Confessor. He was a Roman priest distinguished for his zeal in the cause of orthodoxy. He lived in the Fourth Century of our era. He appears to have died In prison. The universal veneration in which ...More

In preparation for tomorrow's Solemnity, today is the Ninth and Final Day of the Novena for
Day Nine

The late Father James F. Wathen begins Chapter One by identifying that what Paul VI said that nothing has been changed in the essence of the Traditional Latin Mass even though some may be of the impression that is the case, but he sought to assuage those who raised the alarm late in the sixties and early seventies. Alas, as we now know that was totally false and that his intention was to deceive the faithful while giving time to the revolutionaries to establish the Masonic 'Mass' in every diocese and, as generations passed, erase all memory of the Apostolic Canonical Mass of All Ages. Father begins Chapter Two by addressing The Authority of Papal Infallibility

The renowned and venerable Benedictine Abbot Dom Prosper Gueranger weighs in on the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary on this vigil of her being assumed into Heaven by her divine Son. He writes: "What in this dawn before which the brightest constellations pale? Laurence, who has been shining in the August heavens as an incomparable star, is well nigh eclipsed and becomes but the humble satellite of the Queen of Saints, whose triumph is preparing beyond the clouds. Mary stayed on earth after her Son's Ascension, in order to give birth to His Church; but she could not remain for ever in exile. Yet she was not to take her flight to Heaven until this new fruit of her maternity had acquired the ...more on the Dormition of the BVM

Fittingly during this month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary we begin on the Vigil of the Assumption the Nine Day Novena to the Immaculate Heart completing it on the Double of the Second Class Feast of the Immaculate Heart. We encourage you to click here for the First Day of the Novena and the two Litanies of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

      Hail, garden of pleasure,
           Celestial balm,
      Cedar of chastity
           Martyrdom's palm.
From Sext in the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception

The Double of the First Class Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Blessed Mary lived, cared for by St. John, for twelve years after Our Lord's Resurrection. Her life was spent in helping the Apostles and in praying for the conversion of the world. On the third day after Mary's death, when the Apostles gathered around her tomb, they found it empty. The sacred body had been carried up to the celestial paradise. Jesus Himself came to conduct her thither the whole court of heaven came to welcome with songs of triumph the Mother of the Divine Word. Why was Mary's body received into heaven instead of remaining in the earth, like the rest of mankind? The grave had no power over one who was immaculate. Her flesh could not see corruption. Her body had been over shadowed by the Holy Ghost. It had been the sacred temple in which had dwelt God Incarnate, and so it had a claim to ascend whither the Body of her Son had already gone before. But the chief reason was that as she had shared in each detail in the sorrows and agony of her Son, so it was right that she should take part in His triumph. Let us ask of God, through Mary's intercession, the grace of a happy death. See the Mass of Gaudeámus omnes

Day Two

We divert from the regular rotation of the mysteries we're bringing you this month to coincide with the feast and mystery. For the Fourth Glorious Mystery of the Assumption reflection John Gregory focuses on His Holiness Pope Pius XII's decree in proclaiming the Dogma on November 1, 1950 with his encyclical Munificentissimus Deus. John takes this papal decree and divides it with the first part applying to the Fourth Mystery of the Rosary on the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven. The belief of this dogmatic fact was long held by the Magisterium of the Church from the very time of the Blessed Mother being lifted up into Heaven, yet never fully proclaimed as a definitive Dogma until Pius, in complete harmony with all the authentic bishops of the Church, decreed it. This inspiring papal decree is the compendium for this meditation. In honor of this month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, he shares his reflection on The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven

We continue with Book One where Jesus continues His soliloquy to His Bride Bridget as He praises her mentor, a holy Swedish theologian named Master Mathias who, though he was tempted many times, overcame all. Jesus assures her that she also can and to lean on what she was taught. He provides her with assurances that Mathias was victorious and now is reaping those rewards of perseverance and fidelity. Christ's words are as pertinent today as they were for St. Bridget in her time. We can learn from this for we are all sinners who are tempted, but it is in striving for holiness that we can eventually become saints. Our Lord inspires us in Chapter Three, Magnificent Magnet of the Divine

We urge you to click the Rosary banner above for the Eighth Saturday in the Fifteen Saturdays Rosary Crusade organized by Bishop Robert McKenna, O.P. to do our part for the salvation of souls by bringing souls to the true Catholic Faith and Sacraments, for the welfare of our country, and for our own special intentions as we all strive for holiness in our role as members of the Church Militant. On this eighth Saturday of the Fifteen we weep with Jesus as He is mocked as King with the cruel makeshift crown of prickly, sharp thorns they mercilessly dug into His precious skull. If only they knew what they were doing to their King of kings. Do we realize when we sin we join those Roman soldiers in making sport of sin? If only we realized we too must suffer with Him in rejecting the world, the flesh and the devil to be purified so we can gain admittance to Heaven. Eighth Saturday

As much as we hate to beg, we have no choice. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide such and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below or send a check/money order to the address below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward any bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the conciliar collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"?

We encourage you to learn more about the Traditional Latin Mass - the true Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in these videos at this link because each time you worthily assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in person, you gain graces that are placed in a "golden chalice", so to speak, and is offered to God to be weighed in substance when you stand before Him at your Particular Judgment. The more you have filled this chalice, the better will it go for your spiritual welfare in eternity, enhanced by your cooperation with grace. Know the Mass

When One Cannot physically assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we provide additional prayers that can be supplemented with the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and the PROPER OF THE DAY to enable you to better prepare yourself at home. Of course, this never replaces actually being there, but it is much better than attending the Novus Ordo services. Therefore we have gleaned from The Key of Heaven prayers to say at home. It is very comforting to know that the Holy Mass is offered for us even when we are not actually present. But to enjoy the benefits which it procures, we must by a SPIRITUAL COMMUNION become partakers of the altar from which we are temporarily banished. Here we provide prayers in preparation for fulfilling assistance in absentia in addition to the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and PROPER OF THE DAY. PRAYERS IN ABSENTIA

    Prayer Before the Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst fix deep within my heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, whilst with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds; having before my eyes the words which David in prophesy spoke concerning Thee, O Good Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."

    Plenary Indulgence, Condition:
    • Confession
    • Communion
    • One Our Father
    • One Hail Mary
    • One Glory be...
Pope Pius IX, July 31, 1858

  • The Fatima Prayers

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee; and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee.
(repeat the above 3 times then bow your head in reciting the following:)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in tabernacles throughout the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in unison with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. And she conceived of the Holy Ghost.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

    Hail Mary...

And the Word was made flesh. And dwelt among us.

    Hail Mary...

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

    Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae. Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructis ventris tui, Jesus.

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Ecce ancilla Domini. Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.

    Ave Maria...

Et Verbum caro factum est. Et habitavit in nobis.

    Ave Maria...

Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

    Oremus.
Amen.
