Father George Leo Haydock's commentaries on the Douay-Rheims version of the New Testament are provided by John Gregory. Though the first Sunday following Easter is called Low Sunday, in truth St. John the Evangelists leaves us with a spiritual high in both his Epistle and Gospel, emphasizing how faith conquers all and is the answer to believing in Christ the Lord. In continuing John Gregory's dissertation on the Sermon on the Mount, it's a fact that "fruits and nuts" has several connotations, but when it comes to Our Lord's words in St. Matthew 7: 20-22, Jesus does not mince words about those who would harm souls through heresy for Christ speaks of the false prophets - those who misconstrue purposely or through their own laziness the true meaning of the Savior's Word. John Gregory provides the opinions and discernment of several holy Doctors, Saints and theologians on the one barometer Jesus sets: to know them by their fruits - their words and actions and the results of such. Thus, stay clear of such rotten fruits unless you want to be entangled in the thorns and thistles of heresy and apostasy for just saying "Lord, Lord" is no ticket to Heaven for God knows the heart as John details in his on-going series Sermon on the Mount Part Thirteen

Previous Popes and Councils had already ruled that what Vatican II did could not be done nor ever be legitimately enforced. It all started with the first lie by the serpent in the garden and has mushroomed ever since. What is so deadly about a lie, like the deadly viper, it lies there, knowing very well the consequences, and yet it waits ready to pounce once the lie is told. The venom has been released. The victim can never fully recover nor can the one spewing poison fully make reparation. Thus both reputations are skewered - either to the one who the lie hurts or the liar himself whose own reputation for truth is sullied with every lie, not to mention the unspeakable harm to the soul. There are many ways we can bear false witness against our neighbor and today, with all the technology available, it has become a dangerous jungle that we have to navigate so very carefully to avoid the pitfalls and deadly sins that can annihilate reputations and souls. Only by putting on the armor of God as St. Paul urges in Ephesians can we protect ourselves from the slithering serpent who lies in his lair lying like a banshee for he is the evil principality on high who can lay us low, really low like in hell. Sanctifying grace is the only antidote to the venom of deceit as we can see in Step Forty-One on The Eighth Commandment - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor

The Second Sunday following Easter is often referred to as Good Shepherd Sunday for the Gospel of St. John in which Christ proclaims that He is the Good Shepherd and He knows His sheep and they know Him. He identifies those who are not true shepherds for they will flee and leave the flock to fend for themselves, but not before they have weakened them further by not instilling sound doctrine and safeguards for their souls. Such is the state of the shepherds within the conciliar structure who are either lukewarm or lemmings who have an agenda to please man, not God. We know they are false shepherds from the chief shepherd the world considers as pope all the way down to the lowliest priest for there are so few true priests left thanks to the false shepherd Paul VI daring to alter what Christ established. As St. Paul says so clearly in Galatians 1: 8, if some one preach other than what is Catholic truth, let them be condemned, just as the dogmatic Council of Trent reaffirmed. During this Easter Week we celebrate the feast of the holy Doctor of the Church St. Peter Canisius. This Dutch-born Jesuit priest played a key role in the landmark dogmatic and canonical Council of Trent and in debating the Protestant heresies while whirling through his native Netherlands and Germany, Austria, Bohemia and Poland. He was a great eloquent preacher sought by prince and pauper alike. He served as mediator between Holy Roman Emperors and Popes. He also founded the University of Fribourg in 1580. One of his most famous works was "Manuel of Catholics" and he is referred to as the "Second Apostle of Germany," giving way only to the great Saint Boniface as the "First Apostle of Germany." Because of his efforts, the counter-reformation was a resounding success in Bavaria. He was truly the Windmill of Wisdom.
