TUESDAY-SATURDAY      November 9-13, 2004      Volume 15, no. 183

Editor's Note: Due to a pipe bursting under our sink, with water everywhere, the editor has not had the time to format new articles for The Daily Catholic. Also, in order for this editor to catch up, we're going to take this issue through Saturday. I will place the Proper of the Mass on each day, but not add any new articles until the Sunday-Monday issue this week. We encourage you to pray the prayers below as well as the Litany for the Saints of November. Please take time to remember the Holy Souls in Purgatory this month. Thank you for your understanding and patience. God bless you for your fidelity to Christ and His Holy Church.

Daily Thoughts and Prayers for Our Beloved Dead

Editor's Note: Thanks to the kind permission of Mary, Immaculate Queen Press, we are reproducing below for each day in November the respective prayers for the holy souls in Purgatory. They carry an Imprimatur from Patrick Cardinal Hayes of New York. You can order the booklets for .50 each from Mary Immaculate Queen Center, 8504 N. St. Michael's Road, Spokane, WA 99217-9333. Below are for the prayers for the ninth through thirteenth day of November.

    NINTH DAY

The just die members of the Church and so continue. They remain united with us as well as with God by Faith, Hope and Charity. Therefore we should assist them as one member assists another.

Pray: One Our Father, Three Hail Mary's, one Gloria and De Profundis (Psalm 129)

    DE PROFUNDIS
Out of the depths, I have cried to Thee, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice.
    R. Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark my iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand it?
    R. For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee, O Lord
My soul hath relied on His word; my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
R.From the morning watch even until night; let Israel hope in the Lord.
Because with the Lord there is mercy; and with Him plenteous redemption.
    R. And He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
R.and let perpetual light shine upon them:
    May they rest in peace
    R.Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, by Thy terrible agony in the Garden, we beseech Thee to have pity on the Souls in Purgatory, particularly the soul who has the most to suffer through us. Deliver it from the torments, that it may join the Heavenly throng in forever glorifying Thee.

    TENTH DAY

The soul that we release from Purgatory is under a particular obligation to us, both because of the singular benefit it receives from entering all the sooner into the glory, and also because of the terrible sufferings from which it is delivered. Thus it is bound to obtain for its benefactors perpetual graces and blessings.

Pray: One Our Father, Three Hail Mary's, one Gloria and De Profundis (Psalm 129)(see above)

O Lord Jesus, by the merits of the sorrows of Thy Virgin Mother, release from Purgatory the soul that is dearest to Thee. Place it today in Heaven, that in union with the angels and Thy Blessed Mother it may forever praise Thee.

    ELEVENTH DAY

St. Francis de Sales tells us: "Devotion to the Souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of Faith, should merit us Heaven."

Pray: One Our Father, Three Hail Mary's, one Gloria and De Profundis (Psalm 129)(see above)

O Lord Jesus Christ, deliver the souls of the faithful departed from the flames of hell, and let Thine angels bring them into the holy light. We offer Thee, O Lord, a sacrifice of prayer and praise, accept them in behalf of all the Souls in Purgatory, that they may pass from death to life everlasting with Thee in Heaven.

    TWELFTH DAY

They are not strangers who implore our help - they are our own; our parents, brothers and friends. They are the devoted hearts, who loved us so tenderly and for us so earnestly toiled and suffered. NOw that they are gone from our midst, does not our heart reproach us for not having sufficiently shown our affection in the past?

Pray: One Our Father, Three Hail Mary's, one Gloria and De Profundis (Psalm 129)(see above)

O Lord Jesus Christ, have compassion on Thy Church Suffering. Temper Thy justice with pity and open the gates of Heaven for the Souls in Purgatory, that they may praise and glorify Thee forever. Amen.

    THIRTEENTH DAY

St. Ambrose tells us: "All that we give through charity to the Souls in Purgatory is changed into grace for us, and after our death we will find the merit of it increased a hundredfold."

Pray: One Our Father, Three Hail Mary's, one Gloria and De Profundis (Psalm 129)(see above)

O Lord Jesus Christ, grant to the souls of the faithful departed, the full remission of their sins. Be mindful, most merciful Savior, of that Soul in Purgatory who was most devoted to Thee in the Holy Eucharist. Shorten the moment of his deliverance, that he may glorify Thee, and aid me in my journey toward Eternity.

PAPAL PROOF OF WHAT THE CHURCH TRULY TEACHES
For those who truly want to delve deeper into what the Faith teaches and what past Sovereign Pontiffs have decreed, we recommend for your vital reading to better KNOW THE FAITH in order to KEEP THE FAITH, pertinent Papal decrees which put to the lie what is being promulgated today by the Vatican II church. We strongly encourage you to read these to understand how today the modern church is in Apostasy when compared to what had always been taught by Holy Mother Church and enforced and warned as most grievous by previous Pontiffs as you'll see in CREDO & CULTURE

We are proud to be able to provide for our readers the full Ordinary and Proper of each day's Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Immemorial Latin Mass in the Traditional Calendar.

Because six Protestant ministers collaborated in making up the New Mass: George, Jasper, Shepherd, Kunneth, Smith and Thurian.
Several of these principals have openly admitted their intent and Thurian today is praised by the Vatican for his ecumenical advances. Ugh! Is there any question as to the agenda? Truly heresy that was condemned by the Council of Trent. The Vatican was warned of this catastrophe. See The Ottaviani Intervention This is the eighteenth of 62 reasons which were submitted by the Priests of Campos and endorsed by the late great Bishop Castro de Mayer. Each day we will publish one of the 62 until they're all complete.
Conversely in the True Holy Mass of All Ages:

For thee Christ offers Himself as the all powerful victim, reconciling thee to the God Whom thou hast offended.
This is just the eighteenth of at least 77 Graces derived from participation at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass - the Mass of All Ages - the Latin Mass of the Roman Rite which was decreed to be said "in perpetuity" by Pope Saint Pius V in codifying the infallible decrees of the dogmatic Council of Trent. These graces are taken from Father Martin von Cochem's Explanation of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with an imprimatur by New York's Archbishop Michael Augustin on June 24, 1818 during the Pontificate of Pope Pius VII.

For the previous Graces, see Eighteen Graces thus far.

Arlen Specter - the recurring speck in pro-lifers' eyes

The old wrecking ball is ready to be swung at two more churches in Boston

    Spokane's Bishop William Skylstad

Pray for conversions in bringing disenfranchised Catholics back to Truth and Tradition!

    Great graces can be gained

When it comes to all these ungodly laws being passed by liberal judges because of the lobbying and intimidation of a small minority out to do away with the natural and supernatural order, it is wise to keep in mind the following:

"Unjust laws are, properly speaking, NO LAWS!"
His Eminence Saint Robert Bellarmine, Doctor of the Church

  • The spector of betrayal - Arlen Specter and his resistance to his Party and Pro-Life Perhaps it is fitting that Bush will face problems from the man he helped re-elect in Pennsylvania. Staunch pro-lifer Pat Twomey was ganged up on by Bush and supposedly pro-life "Catholic" Senator Rick Santorum in order to enable liberal moderate and pro-death Republican Specter to win renomination. Santorum's reasoning? Twomey wouldn't be strong enough to defeat the Democratic opponent. Says who? Well, now he and Bush and the rest of the GOP have to deal with this renegade who many fear might become head of the Senate Judiciary Committee and give the President more headaches in Supreme Court appointments. Specter may be the pro-death advocates' last chance but fortunately pro-lifers everywhere are outraged and fighting back.

  • So much for euphoria in Boston, disenfranchised Catholics brace for more church closings Archbishop Sean O'Malley, Boston's besieged ordinary, is battenning down the hatches as he readies for the closing of two more church closings in his See. Typically of the Novus Ordinarian prelates, he has sent a woman to do a man's job, hiding from the flock by thrusting a spokeswoman to try to spin the scene. But, like Cardinal Ed Egan has discovered, the resisters will not go quietly. They are planning organized sit-in protests in this town where the Revolution began. Quite appropriate that the revolutionaries of Vatican II are now facing a revolt from within their own ranks as the conciliar church continues to implode, all part of Our Lord's prophecy in Matthew 12: 25, Mark 3: 24, and Luke 11: 17 that a house divided cannot stand.

  • Spokane the latest Diocese to fear bankruptcy over Sex Scandals by Novus Ordinarian priests and cover-ups Bishop William Skylstad held a press conference on Monday to announce that the Spokane Diocese may have to declare bankruptcy to stave off confiscation of properties in that see. The main culprit is Patrick O'Connell a former priest, but the most scandalous part is that Skylstad is next in line to succeed Bishop Wilton Gregory as head of the USCCB. Just another reason to disband this horrid, heretical organization and wake the shepherds that they must return to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church as taught from Peter through Pius XII. In other words, flee the fallacy of Vatican II as fast as you can! Spokanians don't have far to flee and in that vein, we also recommend Fr. Moderator's comments for November 4th at his excellent Traditio.com site and his commentary Immorality Sinks Newchurch for the large Traditonal Catholic community he speaks of comprises several thriving parishes with daily Mass. aerial view of Mount St. Michael'sMass at St. Michael's ChapelIn Spokane proper there is one at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 3914 N. Lidgerwood (509-489-6602) with Fr. Kevin Vaillencourt as pastor, and the main largest parish being the magnficent, majestic Mount St. Michael's overlooking the city of Spokane at 8504 N. St. Michael's Road, and having one of the most beautiful, edifying chapels and sanctuaries you will ever see. The pastor there is Fr. Casimir Puskorius, CMRI and two other priests Fr. John Trough, CMRI and Fr. Gerard Mckee, CMRI. They also are the motherhouse for well over 50 Traditional nuns who remind every Catholic that the True Church is thriving and graces flowing abundantly. It is akin to stepping back in time to the pontificate of Pope Pius XII. Twenty-five miles away in Rathdrum, Idaho is the City of Mary with Fr. Benedict Hughes as pastor as well as pastor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help at 517 Mill Ave. in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Just west of there in Post Falls, Idaho is the Society of St. Pius X Parish Immaculate Conception Church at 496 Lincoln with three priests as well - Fr. Patrick Crane, Fr. David Hewko, and Fr. Morgan (208-773-7442). Most have at least two Masses on Sunday, and daily Mass. Both the latter and Our Lady of Guadalupe have grade schools and Mount St. Michael has both grade school and high school. The missionary spirit of true Catholicism as Christ charged His Apostles in Matthew 28: 19-20 and Mark 16: 15-16, and John 21: 15-17 is alive and thriving in the inland Northwest. If only Bishop Skylstad could realize the error of his ways and return to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church, he would be warmly welcomed.

    The Sanity of Sanctity
We continue our recent tradition of bringing you the Litany of Saints for the Saints and Feasts of November, the original concept submitted by Jacob Michael in September. Need some impetus to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory? What we provide is a litany to all of the saints whose feast days are celebrated in the month of November. Many of these saints are little-known and often are not, for that reason, invoked in our prayers. Just as almost all in Purgatory are forsaken today by the post-conciliar church. If you add this short litany to your daily Rosary, you will have the benefit of invoking the prayers of some of these lesser-known saints for November. Litany of the November Saints

    "Qui legit, intelligat"
In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost, he illustrates how suffering has a purpose; not a physical purpose as much as a spiritual purpose for just as gold is tested in the fire and purified, so also we must pass through our own flames of penance and sacrifice here on earth in order to be cleansed of our sins and to work in reparation for our sins and those of others as members of the Church Militant. Just as Christ shed every drop of His blood to merit for us the reward of Heaven, so also in today's Gospel He purifies the blood of the ill woman in a miracle that tells volumes, for He did not say "Thy blood has saved you," but rather "Thy faith has saved you." While those who do not accept Christ and all His teachings ridicule and scorn Him and His followers, those who realize the treasure Christ can form, are filled with hope and are willing to undergo whatever suffering God so wills for us for, as Father emphasizes, "all things work together unto good." He explains in his sermon "Take Courage...your faith has saved you."
    STRAIGHT STUFF
Griff Ruby offers a refreshing honeycomb of hope and common sense for all Traditional Catholics. He recommends we all stop the name calling and seek to win conservative Novus Ordo believers over to true Catholic thinking and practice by loving them to death, for, as he explains, down deep they really want to be Catholic, but just don't realize how far they have veered from the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. Griff points out it isn't always their fault if they don't know and we shouldn't lump them in with the "cafeteria 'Catholics'" who are anything but. He rationalizes that many traditionalists came from the same place for indeed we were once in their shoes and should more readily be able to understand their angst and confusion. We just need to give them a shove and the best way to shove is by hugging 'em. He explains in his column Have you hugged your local conservative Novus Ordo believer lately?
    Living our Faith
We continue with our revised series on emphasizing the practical aspect of our Faith from a totally Traditional Catholic perspective. In this issue we provide the foundation - the Cornerstone of the Church - Christ Himself who is the Founder of the only One True Church outside of which there is No Salvation (The thrice-defined Dogma - Extra Ecclesiam Nullam Salus). Compare these clear and certain teachings with what the conciliar church has perpetrated in watering down the Faith so insidiously over the past 40 years that it is no longer recognizable as Catholic. That is why we provide this feature for we feel confident that these catechetical "points of enlightenment" will help more Catholics better understand their Faith, especially those who were not blessed with early formation of the Faith in the home and their parish school. Regardless of where any Catholic is in his or her journey toward salvation, he or she has to recognize that the Faith they were initiated into at the Sacrament of Baptism, making them truly members of the Mystical Body of Christ, is the most precious gift they have been given in life. If they truly want to live their Faith as it was taught in the Church of Peter to Pius XII, they must know the Faith and live it as Traditional Catholics. That is the only way to KEEP THE FAITH! Thus, in this issue we share The Foundation of the Church
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica begins a series in which he summarizes various aspects of the recent national election and what it portends. He begins with the irony of the sheep, for to the world the "lost" sheep are those who know their Shepherd and He knows them, while the "found" sheep are really floundering among the wolves, oblivious to the imminent danger to their souls. They have failed to heed Our Lord's warning in Mark 8: 36, "For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Fortunately, John Kerry did not gain the White House, and hopefully he will come to his senses and regain his soul. Gabriel explains in his column Counting Sheep
    Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi
Kevin Tierney is dizzy from all the spinning of a modern Christ as the Novus Ordo does and once again he shows more examples of how the architects of the conciliar church's liturgy skewer the truth in such ambiguous terms that leave those trying to follow it in a total fog. He shows how over the last 40 years so much has been compromised and it is evident in the watered down liturgy. Whereas, those clinging to the Rite of the Traditional Latin Mass, are strengthened through grace and determination, realizing the why and how which is clear and concise, never compromised as Kevin points out in the comparisons of the Traditional Proper of the Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost with the Novus Ordo 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Great Compromise
    On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimar„es also analyzes the results of the recent election and determines some interesting lessons that can be extrapolated from the vox populi. He illustrates how the majority approved the war on terror and our existence in Iraq while not caving to Bin Laden's intimidation. Atila points out that what happened in Spain was not going to happen here because the terrorists underestimated the American voter. The main point, as Atila avers and has shocked so many liberal media wags, is that moral values was the key to keeping Kerry out of the White House and it was the Catholic vote which, for once, made the difference and the more Kerry spewed heresy, the more Catholics came to realize true Catholic teaching - a true silver lining in the clouds of consternation. Atila explains in his column Lessons From the Elections

    LAST SATURDAY'S FEATURES

For the more recent articles before yesterday, see below

    Quid Dicit Scriptura?
With today being the First Saturday of the month, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Jacob Michael shares statements from ten of the early Fathers of the Church which set in concrete the correlation of Our Lady as the Second Eve, just as her Divine Son was the Second Adam. From St. Justin Martyr to St. Fulgentius, Jacob provides three hundred years worth of solid doctrine on Mary presented by ten of the most esteemed early Fathers of the Church, including six Doctors of the Church. He intersperses it with commentary from a future saint, John Henry Cardinal Newman. Jacob lists the quotes in his column Ten Early Church Fathers on Mary/Eve

    Living our Faith
We continue with our revised series on emphasizing the practical aspect of our Faith from a totally Traditional Catholic perspective, we focus today on this First Saturday of the month, dedicated to Our Lady with a special symposium from My Catholic Faith on the Blessed Mother. It reaffirms what Jacob discloses above from the various Fathers and Doctors of the Church and shows that nothing in Holy Mother Church's teaching has changed and therefore we feel confident that these catechetical "points of enlightenment" will help more Catholics better understand their Faith, especially those who were not blessed with early formation of the Faith in the home and their parish school. Regardless of where any Catholic is in his or her journey toward salvation, he or she has to recognize that the Faith they were initiated into at the Sacrament of Baptism, making them truly members of the Mystical Body of Christ, is the most precious gift they have been given in life. Gabriel's Clarion
The Curse is over and Gabriel Garnica can finally salute the Boston Red Sox because Beantown is looking better this week with the threat of John Kerry flaunting his apostasy from the White House now impossible. Gabriel equates the Curse of the Bambino with the Curse of the Liar and shows how it was a clean sweep. Fenway has been purified, the ghosts of Billy Buck and the rest of the wrenching near misses have been freed, while Beacon Hill still has Kerry, Pennsylvania Avenue will not and that is due to the Vox populi as Gabriel explains in his column Truly the Boston Curse has been Reversed!
    Living our Faith
We continue with our revised series on emphasizing the practical aspect of our Faith from a totally Traditional Catholic perspective, we focus today on those to whom Christ charged with continuing the teachings He imparted - His Apostles. Nothing in Holy Mother Church's teaching has changed and therefore we feel confident that these catechetical "points of enlightenment" will help more Catholics better understand their Faith, especially those who were not blessed with early formation of the Faith in the home and their parish school. FOCUS
Les Femmes' Mary Ann Kreitzer points out that Bush's election was a rejection of the immorality promoted by the left-wing Democrats and not as much an endorsement of Bush himself. She warns that the President should not listen to such traitors as Senator Arlen Specter, but rather pay attention to the pulse of the country. America has illustrated only too well by its vote that the red carpet must be laid out for a return to moral family values in which Our Lord and Savior comes first, and the country has soundly rejected the abominations promoted by the left because they undermine Christian principles and Catholic truth. She focuses on this in her column The Election's Over, Our Work is Just Beginning
    Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi
While Kevin has been bringing you this series most Sundays in comparing the Propers of the Mass of the Traditional Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo, the title of this feature "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" also extends to ways in which one prays determining how one believes. The charismatic movement, which John Paul II is on record as boasting as the "greatest movement in Church history" is, like the rest of the conciliar church, heading for oblivion. Kevin points out in his multi-part essay why this is and why the charismatic movement is dangerous. He begins with part one as he addresses four questions to the charismatics that must be answered. To answer them is to admit the charismatic movement has nothing to do with Catholicism and is not from the Holy Ghost as he shows in Part One of Musings on the Charismatic Movement
    Living our Faith
We continue with our revised series on emphasizing the practical aspect of our Faith from a totally Traditional Catholic perspective, we continue with the Four Indelible Marks of the Church as affirmed in the Nicene Creed. Contrary to what many may think, nothing in Holy Mother Church's teaching has changed and therefore we feel confident that these catechetical "points of enlightenment" will help more Catholics better understand their Faith, especially those who were not blessed with early formation of the Faith in the home and their parish school. Regardless of where any Catholic is in his or her journey toward salvation, he or she has to recognize that the Faith they were initiated into at the Sacrament of Baptism is the most precious gift they have been given in life. HOPE ON THE HORIZON
Townhall's Terence Jeffrey has written a column that could be titled "Friday Night Rights" after the hit movie "Friday Night Lights" for that is what St. Mary's in Kansas are fighting for, their right to play football. When it should be a shining example to all society that properness and decency, the distinction between the sexes and the sacredness of vocation come above competition and results, the liberals are out to squash decency. The refreshing message the SSPX Academy St. Mary's clarioned to their prep league and officials by willingly taking a forfeit rather than competing against a team which was trying to be politically correct by allowing a girl to play for them is not being taken well by progressivist officials. Holding the ideals of Catholicism and chivalry above the unisex movement today, the Society refused to play if the girl suited up. The backlash has been typical of this secular, atheistic culture. As Jeffrey writes, "Under the Friday-night lights of Kansas we are seeing a little preview of the prospective endgame for the overall cultural war if the busybodies of the American left manage to win it. These petty tyrants are not satisfied with the freedom to behave as their consciences tell them to behave. They want to force everybody else to behave like they do, too -- even if this means forcing traditionalists to act against abiding standards of civilized behavior and their own well-formed consciences." While Jeffrey refers to the Society as a "splinter group," all would be wise to realize who really is the 'splinter group.' The difference is that SSPX "splinter" is still attached to the Tree of the Church founded by Christ, unlike the branch that has broken completely off and calls itself the conciliar church with all its trappings. Yet, Jeffrey does not see that vein but rather a civil rights issue as he concludes, "On the doorsteps of our churches, around the campfires of our Boy Scouts, on the football fields of Kansas, seeds are being sown today that will determine how free America is tomorrow." He explains in his column Football and intolerant liberals
    Gabriel's Clarion
With the voting behind us, now comes the counting and the real politics, but Gabriel Garnica warns of a society whose shape is shifting towards Godlessness by abdicating morality in favor of satisfying the world, the flesh and the devil. He points out how the conciliar church has helped in this sell-out by spiritual bankrupting souls in the confessionals by equating sin as equal between mortal and venial and this is pure anathema. Such heresy has led countless souls to the brink of hell and beyond in their false belief that they will all go to Heaven for sin is relative. Oh, how wrong they are, but the witches of New Age and the New Order continue to stir up the gobbledlygook of gnosticism and other heresies in their cauldron of canards that are reshaping the fate of more souls than we might believe. He explains in comparing the election process with the erroneous thinking that permeates the conciliar church today in his column Electorals, Confessionals, and Melting Pots

    On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimar„es exposes the latest progressivist program that has undermined the foundation of mortar and the Roman Collar with the destruction or closing down of so many churches under the false premise that people are moving away. The fact is the conciliar church has moved away from the faithful. He shows the contradictions of rationale between Boston where Archbishop Sean O'Malley is trying to run roughshod over old parishes and meeting resistance as is Cardinal Ed Egan in New York. And then there is Portland along with, as was announced above, Spokane who is following the same slippery slope but taking a totally different approach to destroy. This also applies to Tucson and many other sees that will begin falling like dominos for a house divided against itself cannot stand. Likewise Atila focuses on the reasons why the priest shortage is playing right into the hands of the protestant progressivists for they have an agenda that is certainly not Catholic in any sense, though they mask it with Catholic terms. What it is in truth is anathema. Atila lays out the facts in his bird's eye of the news column, we call Destroy, Dilute, and Delete
    Christ or chaos

Though Dr. Thomas A. Droleskey has kept his moratorium on not commenting about the political scene, we believe the time is right to bring you one of his vintage articles that is all the more pertinent in these times. Thus, we bring you his excellent essay - which has been circulated far and wide - in which he analyzes the political landscape over the past two decades to show that the more we think things will change and Roe vs. Wade will finally be overturned, the more things remain status quo and the more babies are senselessly and sinfully murdered in the womb. The only way this Holocaust of the Womb can be stopped is not by party, but by recruiting and electing men and women who will be uncompromisingly pro-life with no exceptions. Tom explains in his magnficient, eye-opening uncompromising piece that has become a classic We Have Learned Nothing .

    "Qui legit, intelligat"
In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Double of the First Class Solemnity of Christ the Sovereign King, he goes right to the source of what every human must do: submit completely to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer, as their Sovereign King to Whom all obedience and loyalty are given uncompromisingly. Christ has given us the passport for this in the waters of Baptism in which we willingly choose to subject ourselves to His Holy Will, carried out and expressed in His Church. Yet, as Father points out, the postconciliar church is not His Church for it rebels against the King, stirring up a mestastasized mutiny that has exposed the cancer of Vatican II that, worse than aids or any disease, has claimed millions of souls for many of the faithful disregarded Our Lord's warning to beware of those who can kill both the body and the soul. Over the past 40 years we can clearly see the betrayal of the King. Calling upon the wisdom of Pope Leo XIII, Father assures Traditional Catholics will have no part of the revolt, but will resist it for the greater honor and glory of their King as you'll see in his sermon To Know, To Love, Jesus Christ
    "Qui legit, intelligat"
In honor of the glorious Holy Day of Obligation when we honor the Church Triumphant, Father Louis Campbell presents a one of his vintage, but most timely sermons on a variety of saints past, present and future. There is no one alive who cannot will to be a saint. There are countless examples of men and women from every walk of life who strove to become holier. He points out that we will never know how many are saints today until the final day when we see the wonders of Heaven illuminated by the countless stars of the saints. Wouldn't it be wonderful if our star was included in that magnificent gallery of lights? Father shows how that is not only plausible, but very, very possible. He also points out that in these times when humanism usurps godliness, and when the worth of a human life, created by the Almighty, becomes important only in the fallible expectations of man's mindset, that one of the ways to sainthood begins by doing all we can to protect the innocent unborn. Within those wombs could be countless future saints - still not bodily formed human beings - who will grow and nurture into responsible members of Christ's Mystical Body to carry on the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. He explains in his sermon, Called to be Saints

    STRAIGHT STUFF
Griff Ruby weighs in with some interesting facts and fictions regarding a work which for Traditional Catholics is a must have on their book shelves - Denzinger's Enchiridion - called The Source of Catholic Dogma in which one can go straight to the horse's mouth, so to speak, to see what previous Pontiffs pronounced. Griff points out the simplicity and clarity with which they expressed dogma; quite a contrast to the ambiguous bafflegab of the conciliar men who occupy Modern Rome. He also shares how he himself got caught up in taking something out of context, which is one of those pitfalls we can all fall into if we do not take the time to thoroughly read everything. He even advances the concept that perhaps the periti and dismantlers of Holy Mother Church might have misread Denzinger and really were trying to fulfill the very things that had been condemned by previous Popes because they misread Denzinger. But he doesn't dwell long on that for that would mean they didn't know what they were doing and we all know they knew very well what they have done. The more Traditional Catholics are familiar with Denzinger, the harder it will be for the Modernists to succeed. He explains in his column Something about Denzinger

Gabriel Garnica signals the final trumpet before the polls close as he borrows from the Bard and Shakespeare's words, "The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose." Indeed Gabriel illustrates how John Kerry is dancing with the devil, as evident from last week's cordial meeting with the leader of satanism and how insidiously the Democratic nominee twists the Word to suit his purpose at the expense of his own immortal soul. Gabriel identifies some of the passages Kerry has spewed and offers key ones that the Massachusetts senator should not only read, but live. It is all laid out in Gabriel's column in these times when there is indeed "something rotten in Denmark" and everywhere else as well. Gabriel enumerates in his column Did Shakespeare Know Kerry?
    REALITY CHECK
Father Lawrence Smith reminds Catholic Americans of the casualties of war with statistics that provide where the real weapons of mass destruction are, and who is responsible. Never in the history of the United States has there been such devastation, never in the history of Americans on the battlefield has there been such bloodshed. Yet, in those times when Americans fought for their country, they had not yet abandoned God. Not so today for the government has blatantly abandoned God, openly flaunting the celebration of violating the Fifth Commandment with Roe v. Wade, not to mention outrageously breaking all of the other Commandments of God. Father points out that, no matter our political affiliation, no matter how much we have or don't have, every last man is culpable before our Sovereign King, Who will judge us if we are not faithful subjects, abiding by all His laws. Father has said it before, and he'll say it again: Time is running out! He explains in An Open Letter to My Fellow Catholic Americans
    Living our Faith
We continue with our revised series on emphasizing the practical aspect of our Faith from a totally Traditional Catholic perspective, we continue with the First Article of the Apostles' Creed and the second of the Four Indelible Marks of the Church. If they truly want to live their Faith as it was taught in the Church of Peter to Pius XII, they must know the Faith and live it as Traditional Catholics. That is the only way to KEEP THE FAITH! Thus, in this issue we share The Four Marks of the Church - HOLY
    Echoes of True Catholicism
Dr. Marian Therese Horvat gets to the point of how Catholicism has been so undermined by secular interests and Halloween is now fully the devil's holiday and so many willingly are marching to satan's beat right into hell for the pagan practices, yeah, demonic practices are widely accepted today and grilled into the children's psyches as good. Marian traces this pagan phenomenology and shows how the only barrier to total paganism, total domination by the devil are the Traditional forces willing to valiantly fight the demons against all odds. The trick is they have on their side the greatest weapon - God. That is the Treat that will eventually subdue the evil spirits and free the faithful from the bonds of lucifer. That is the goal of those who have resisted the onslaught of paganism and the diabolic influence. She explains in her timely column Halloween: A Return to Paganism

Editor Michael Cain attempts to make heads and tails out of two sides of the same coin in this year's Presidential Election and realizes that we can not leave it to chance, especially considering that this year V-day will be held on a most significant feast: ALL SOULS' DAY. He asks if we understand the significance of this and the two feast days which immediately precede it. He has some surprising, but logical and weighty recommendations when we enter the polling booth next month and they do not include the two frontrunners for the two-party system. That is not the answer for saving America. The answer lies in total submission to and promotion of the Social Kingship of Jesus Christ, not only in the United States but in every country of the universe. There is one ideal candidate who could possibly carry this off because he has already been put through the gauntlet of credibility and emerged with flying colors. That would be Mel Gibson who, though he has no chance in 2004, could be a serious and most viable candidate in 2008. Think of the possibilities. Cain elaborates on the necessity to vote our sensus Catholicus conscience in his editorial No vote is ever wasted when we stand for Christ!
    REALITY CHECK
Father Lawrence Smith provides voters a reality check as he delves into the impossibilities of being able to vote for either major candidate for it is a matter of voting for the lesser of two evils. However, this doesn't wash with committed Catholics for one can never justify that premise for it is still evil, and no matter how one breaks down the issues you still get Tweedledum and Tweedledumber and the dumbest would be the Catholic who would vote for either evil. It is still evil. Therefore, our charge as Catholics, dedicated to re-establishing the fact that Jesus Christ is King of the Universe, is to vote for someone who will not perpetuate evil. True, that doesn't leave a lot of choices. It's a real challenge, but consider the alternatives and consequences if you do endorse a person who promotes the policies of evil. Father covers this in depth in his essay Eschewing, Not Choosing, the Evil.
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica sounds the clarion in debunking the critics of single issue voting (SIV) by offering a fail-safe method of deduction that will assure Catholics that their consciences will be in line with the teachings of Holy Mother Church. Gabriel calls it Priority Issue Clustering (PIC) which syllogistically will place morality as the highest priority of any issue or platform, thus, if this is applied, it will assure that no sensible Catholic will vote for a candidate who openly promotes the killing of innocents in the womb, stem cell research from unborn embryos, euthanasia, or desecrate the sacrament of matrimony by advancing the cause of sodomite unions on an equal plane. Those sins can never be justified and no cluster buster can beat PIC as Gabriel proves in his column PIC makes SIV fail-safe
    HOT ISSUES
Gary Morella presses the hot issue button over the latest skimble-skamble that Senator John Kerry blurted patronizingly to the entire nation in the televised debate from St. Louis. It is too much! How can this former altar boy say with a straight face that he is a practicing Catholic and that the Church allows him to check his faith at the door? The record needs to be set straight for nowhere in Catholic teaching does it permit such heresy. The man is an obstinate sinner who, because of his persistent and unrepentant ways, has long ago excommunicated himself. No wonder the St. Louis Archbishop and Colorado Springs Bishop have come out so strongly about warning voters of the sinfulness of voting for such a liar and apostate without mentioning his name. It's blatantly obvious it would be a sin to vote for Kerry, period! That is what Gary asserts unflinchingly in his short commentary, The Apostate Altar Boy
    Pro-Life Prescriptions
Dr. Frank Joseph, one of the most active pro-life advocates in fighting the pro-abortion factories, calls for the Church Militant to get tough and assure that avowed amoral pro-abort John Kerry is not elected the 44th President of the United States for that would assure the continued death sentence for the innocent unborns for the next 32 years. Why? Because at stake is the appointment of possibly three Supreme Court Justices in the next four years. Kerry has sworn he will not appoint a pro-life judge. Therefore, Bush is the only alternative according to Dr. Frank. While many may feel Bush may not be the best president, he's the best we've got right now, unless you consider the worst-case scenario: John Kerry as president. Shudder the thought! Frank details in his column Bush or Bust!

    STRAIGHT STUFF
Griff Ruby, a welcome new addition to The Daily Catholic's impressive list of contributing writers, shares his background so that readers can better understand not only where he is coming from, but also how this author of The Resurrection of the Roman Catholic Church arrived at the inevitable conclusion that the True Faith can only be found in the Church of St. Peter and Paul through Pope Pius XII. Tradition is key and the reader can take courage that if Griff could be put through the ordeal in his search for truth, testing many false religions before discovering the Latin Mass, then such a goal is possible for anyone if they have a clean heart and are open to Heaven's prompting. He poses the question "So, Who is this Griff Ruby, Anyway?" and proceeds to answer for the reader's satisfaction and assurance in his column A Journey to Truth

    "Qui legit, intelligat"
In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Nineteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he encourages us to heed the words of St. Paul for we will be examined spiritually and will have to account for that which we are culpable for. That is why Father reminds us that Christ's Church is built upon the solid foundation of the rock, but those who try to construct the Sacred Deposit of the Faith upon the shifting, worldly sands of modernism and ecumenism are destined to fail. Thus the direction Modern Rome has taken is directly contrary to the firm footing of Eternal Rome and the reader must decide which footing he wants to be planted on - the rock of the Church of Peter and Paul through Pius XII, or the loose sands of the post-conciliar church. One way we can better make this choice is by heeding all Our Lord conveyed and abiding by the Truths and Traditions faithfully handed down. To do this we must garb ourselves in grace, for as Jesus says in today's Gospel, "Many are called, but few are chosen." Wouldn't it be a shame if you were not chosen? Begin now by Putting on the new man
    Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi
Kevin Tierney shows that when push comes to shove, the Novus Ordo is afraid to submit body and soul in humility, thinking its congregants can suffice on feelings alone. When the going gets tough, the sun is not shining, or any other obstacle comes along, those following the Novus Ordo will not have the stamina to sustain their Faith. Whereas, those clinging to the Rite of the Traditional Latin Mass, are strengthened through grace and determination, realizing it is not feelings that make the faith, but faith - a trusting faith that is totally dependent upon our Creator. That is the attitude, if followed religiously, that will assure being chosen when our time on earth is complete. After all, that is the first requirement of the Faith, salvation of our souls. Not our bodies, but our souls! Kevin touches on this in the comparisons of the Traditional Proper of the Nineteenth Sunday After Pentecost with the Novus Ordo 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Faith will not fail, feelings will
St. Robert Bellarmine and Galileo In continuing his series on the Theology of History, Atila Sinke Guimar„es drives a stake into the coffin of progressivists in affirming that Galileo was not censured for his scientific data per se, but because his theories infringed upon philosophy and, even worse, theology. Had he remained within the borders of purely science, there would have been no problems, but because he dared advance the progressivist platform that challenged the infrangible Scriptures themselves. Despite the feeble and totally inappropriate apologies by John Paul II, Karol Wojtyla didn't have a leg to stand on theologically and even scientists have acknowledged that fact; a fact which Cardinal Saint Robert Bellarmine determined in protecting the integrity of Divine Revelation. Atila shows how progressivists in the 16th century had already begun to infiltrate the Church and how the Inquisition kept it in check. If only the Inquisition were still in place in the early 60's, Vatican II would never have gotten off the ground. Atila points out the problems and and provides The Swan's Song of Galileo's Myth

    Traditional Thoughts
Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant and a loyal friend of the late, great Michael Davies pens a tribute to this Traditional literary giant of our time. Matt shares some of his personal moments with Davies and the trials the British writer underwent, never wavering in upholding the Immemorial Mass of Tradition. Matt also takes to task those who have dared besmirch the good name of Michael Davies with such slanderous remarks as "unfaithful departed." While Traditional Catholics have been known to disagree on various and sundry topics, few have ever resorted to name-calling and Matt sets the record straight in bringing to life the character of a man whose courage and perseverance have paved the way for still having the Latin Mass today. Michael Davies taught us that all is not lost. It would be a shame to lose the momentum he helped foster. Davies funeral will be held in the British Isles on the morning of October 22. Matt presents his tribute, The Last Letter from London
    The Sanity of Sanctity
As shown above, we provide a print out for readers of the Litany of the Saints for October saints. This idea, originated by Jacob Michael, is something we are carrying out each month for it will hopefully add a renewed interest in the saints of the Traditional calendar and spur readers to do further search on the saints in hopes of emulating their holiness and the means by which each saint strove toward sanctity. The Litany can be found at Litany of the Saints of October
