The Rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary Father Yves le Roux offers a sobering essay for all Catholics, especially parents who are struggling with balancing their values with the overpowering mores being dictated by the world. Too often, Fr. points out, we as Catholics succumb to the Protestant morality that it is all inevitable and we can do nothing about it. Nothing could be further from the truth and we need to shake the cobwebs of such nonsense, such heresy, and reclaim our children and civilization for Catholic morality which has been turned topsy-turvy especially over the past half a century in which so much as been Protestantized and so many souls lost in the unbloody revolution that has taken place right under our noses. He rebukes the Protestant notion that grace suppresses nature. Indeed it does not, rather it elevates it. He encourages parents to nourish affection, true parental affection and love on their children so they will have a solid foundation when all else is crumbling around them. Father gets to the core in Problems of Disaffection A Chronicle of Catholic Tradition In the sixth chapter of our series on the history of Holy Mother Church and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we turned to the man Our Lord Jesus Christ appointed to lead His Church - Tu es Petrus - the fisherman Simon Peter. A more unlikely candidate the majority would never pick. But in His Divine Wisdom Christ knew exactly what He was doing. As is the case with anything from God, satan will always try to muck up the works. The early days of the Church were no exception as the father of half-truths sought to disrupt and divide the followers of Christ, pitting those loyal to Peter against those loyal to Paul and vice versa. An institution of any less founding could not have survived the early bickering and division. But the institution Jesus founded was not a temporal foundation, but an eternal one - the Heavenly Jerusalem on earth: His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church built on, as we presented in part five, The Rock!
In honor of Wednesday's feast of Our Lady of Lourdes we presented a special feature on this most famous of Marian Shrines. This is the 150th Anniversary of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, decreed by Pope Pius IX in 1854. Four years later Our Lady appeared to a young peasant girl of the Soubirous family and confirmed to her the infallible dogma as we detailed in Part One at The Healing Waters of Lourdes Part One and The Healing Waters of Lourdes Part Two. Gabriel's Clarion In honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Gabriel Garnica related his experience at this international Marian Shrine in the Apennine Moutains in southern France. Not only the River Gave flows through this quaint village dating back to the time of the Gauls, but the fallen angel is not far away, hovering and luring the faithful from the purity of the message of Lourdes. Just as in Rome where vendors vie for the attention that should be focused on the spiritual, so also in the Village of Bernadette commerce takes a backseat to no one. This is one of the dangers Gabriel warned about in describing the three armies who gather there. If one is not girded in the armor of God at all times, their Achilles heel can be compromising to progress and the profane. Satan loves that as Gabriel explained in The Lesson of Lourdes
With all the persecution being aimed at Mel Gibson, he must feel like a marked man. Editor Michael Cain showed where that suits Mel just fine for the more he is scourged in the press, the more he is following in the footsteps of Christ Jesus, Who Mel has devoted his entire energy to in producing and directing the greatest film ever made. Cain delved into the real reasons behind the bitter barbs and why the attackers are so rabid. Could it be because they are afraid of the Truth? You got it and so does Mel as he remains as wise as a serpent and as guileless as a dove as he builds an army of supporters among a network of churches who we hope and pray will finally realize where the True Sacrifice they are witnessing on film is still played out daily in the one True Mass, the Traditional Latin Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Mel's hope and prayers, as well as countless Traditional Catholics, is that God will work miracles through this vehicle of evangelization as Cain explained in his editorial A man of his word true to the Word!
Catharine Lamb resumed her feature on the Canon of the Mass and those who are honored. Monday she featured the holy martyred saints who immediately follow the martyred Popes in the Communicantes before the Consecration. Catharine provides some background on these seven men, four of whom were holy brothers in blood who gave their very blood because they believed in the Blood of Christ. Today so many want to apologize for their actions. Yet the Church in her wisdom set in stone that these seven men who are specially venerated in Rome, would forever be remembered in the Sacred Canon of the Mass. Catharine assured in her column We will never forget! Books you can count on! We are delighted to resurrect our long dormant series on BOOKS YOU CAN COUNT ON with the excellent rationale on why rural life was so prized and adhered to Catholic Social Order in the 'Catholic Land Movement.' This was a necessary counter to the urban, industrial movement that imprisoned so many in a secular, Protestant milieu of the urban life. The esteemed Dr. Peter Chojnowski provided a brief review of a book first released in 1931 which contained ten essays warning all of this erosion of the Faith and urging Catholics to embrace the 'Catholic Land Movement' in order to preserve the family unit in every manner of the sensus Catholicus. The book Flee to the Fields is considered the Catholic manifesto for this, endorsed by none other than that great cradle Catholic literary master Hilaire Belloc in the original preface of the book now made available for all again at IHS Press. In full harmony with Belloc, author of The Great Heresies were not only the Catholic hierarchy of all of Great Britain, but his noble friend G. K. Chesterton as we presented a book review on Flee to the Fields
With the fever building for the much-anticipated film 'The Passion of The Christ', few are aware of another movie in the making that is the antithesis of Mel Gibson's masterpiece. Yet, while Hollywood shudders and shuns helping a decent man, they are lining up at the trough of filth to churn out a movie that is full of lies. Yes, when the Truth is staring them in the face, they turn away and embrace the fleeting pleasure that will disintegrate into nothingness. Gabriel pointed out the best and the worst in his brief essay A Tale of Two Movies "Qui legit, intelligat" In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for Septuagesima Sunday, he prepared us for this time of Septuagesima leading up to Ash Wednesday. We are officially in the time of preparation for fasting and penance liturgically and literally. The need to turn to the Cross of Christ in prayer and sacrifice is made more urgent in what we see in the world and modern church just in the past few weeks. We must shun worldly values and hold true to the True Faith which Our Lord and His Saints have assured, handing down traditional devotions and guidelines to navigate us through the torrential typhoons threatening us today. Father showed us ways of Surviving Sodom and Gomorrah
With the maelstrom of unfounded anti-Semitism charges being flung by the Zionists the closer we draw to the opening of Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of The Christ', Jacob Michael provided failsafe scriptural arguments that affirm not only is it futile for the Jews to wait for the Messiah, but also to try to re-establish the Old Jerusalem; for Christ destroyed the Old Jerusalem and established the New Jerusalem as His Church. Jacob presented the evidence in his Scriptural exegesis on the fulfillment of the Promise. How did the apostles and the first Christians view the restoration of David's Kingdom? See Jacob's fifth installment The Gospel in Action Mass Confusion Father Lawrence Smith documented the the two countenances of a man many neo-Catholics think is a conservative cardinal, but in truth he is no friend of Traditional Catholicism. The perception of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger working to restore reverence towards a true sensus Catholicus is exposed as false in the prefect's own words as Father pointed out so succinctly from words the head of the CDF said way back when and as recently as this week. He is in every way a liberal, a progressivist who indeed is hallucinating as his words indicate. Father laid it all out in his treatise A Tale of Two Truths.
If modern Rome is so concerned about 'dialoging' with all schismatic groups, then why are they not serious about healing the rift within their own ranks? What are they afraid of in engaging those who are actually Catholic theologians in discussing the doctrines? That is the crux of the problem which the Bishop Fellay addressed in his penetrating, firm and respectful documented Letter to the Cardinals: From Ecumenism to Silent Apostasy HOT ISSUES As a commentary on the very issue His Excellency raised above, editor Michael Cain weighed in on how the progressive puppets try to defend the errors by changing the subject. Gary Morella offers his insights on what's been lost. The very points Bishop Fellay brings up are the exact reason so many Catholics are in a total state of confusion and compromise. Cain emphasized the need to stay on the offense and keep the Modernists in a defensive mode in the editorial Viva la Résistance!
We returned to the turning point in the embryonic stage of the early Church: the conversion of Paul in which through God's Mercy a terrible sinner was turned into one of the greatest saints. This should give us encouragement in these terrible times where Modernism, "the synthesis of all heresies" - as Pope St. Pius X asserted, is running amok. Part five: Shocked and Saved! THE FATIMA FILE As a follow-up to the backpedaling by authorities at Fatima and Rome, John Vennari, editor of Catholic Family News provides reliable and documented proof that the ecumaniacal agenda is behind all the spin despite the ambiguous rhetoric that tries to hide what's really going on for, as John points out so well, "in their attempts to deny, they confirm. Shrine Rector Confirms New Ecumenical Orientation at Fatima
Catharine Lamb was righteously indignant at the gall of a man who calls himself an Episcopalian minister telling his flock of lost sheep that they must choose heresy over schism. Sure sounds like the whole 'civilization of love' unity of community spiel doesn't it? The only difference here is at least the American Anglican is honest enough to call this apostasy what it really is: heresy. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the newChurch would at least identify itself for what it is: PROTESTANT! Catharine fires off a column that should fire you up as well for indeed it is all Heresy in High Gear! FOCUS Father Lawrence Smith focuses on the insanity of an article that appeared last month in The New York Times on the measures the madmen of mammon will go to for profit. Father points out in exposing the madness how inevitable it is that the Wall Street Spin and spinsters are going up in smoke, or make that down because Our Lord's warning in Mark 8: 36, "For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" has been totally lost on the agnostic anal authors who worship at the capitalism-at-any-price altar. Father shows the futility of trying to justify a means when there is no end in Leaping into the Hand-basket Bound for Hell
