The Oscillating Ostrich

Sandra Miesel has her head in the sand over her denial of a Masonic Conspiracy within the Church. Is it conspiracy or conformity on her part? No matter how many ways she tries to spin it, or so cavalierly brush it off as the imagination of conspiracy theorists, the facts prove she has exposed her feathers and they afford no protection from the truth so clearly laid out by past Pontiffs.

"The question I have for Ms. Miesel is: If a definite Masonic plot is all fantasy and the mere imagination of Catholic conspiracy theorists, then why did the past popes find it so necessary to warn us about these infiltrators and conspirators, namely Freemasons, Modernists and Communists? "

There are a number of topics I would like to cover, but before I can venture into several of them, I feel it is necessary to clear up some misconceptions that our friends of the Novus Ordo persuasion have fostered as fact, or dismissed facts as mere "conspiracy fantasy." The facts, laid out clearly by previous reliable Roman Pontiffs, show that today this is not a "fantasy" but a tragic reality.

Earlier this year in the Seattle Catholic Matthew M. Anger stated in his discussion of Conspiracy theories and Sandra Miesel's "Swinging at Windmills: A Close Look at Catholic Conspiracy Theories," from that bastion of the New Order Crisis magazine that, "Her bias was so flagrant that it invited a reprimand from Dr. Alice von Hildebrand who said that Miesel 'overshoots her mark and weakens her conclusions.'" ("Causes of Unrest: The Spiritual Roots of Rebellion" by Matthew M. Anger.

Having also read her piece in Crisis, I concur with Mr. Anger. There is no doubt in my mind, Ms. Miesel, that there are malignant men with "dark" glasses in smoke filled rooms with too much money, power and time on their hands, who plan how they are going to influence and gain as much control as they can over world events. I have no doubt that these Illuminati/ Masonic/socialist/communist types whom the pre-Vatican II popes warned us about are from "the synagogue of Satan" as Pope Leo XIII properly called them and that they want to destroy the Church because it is a rival to their false religion. Now of course these men are not running the show- God is, and of course they cannot control governments, and people's behaviors but that doesn't mean they won't try and succeed in many respects.

Here is where I take issue with Ms. Miesel who doesn't think that conspirators "infiltrators real or otherwise - are unnecessary to explain our problems of the past 40 years, much less the priest scandals. History is a messy record of myriad choices, not the plan of Secret Masters."

Perhaps, Ms. Miesel, Pope Leo XIII should have been warned about his paranoia when he composed the following prayer to Saint Michael Archangel,

"These most 'crafty enemies' have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered....." (Roman Raccolta, July 23, 1898, supplement approved July 31, 1902, London: Burnes, Oates & Washbourne Ltd., 1935, 12th edition.) See Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

The word "craft" or "crafty" is also used in reference to Freemasonry as witchcraft and freemasonry uses similar incantations and ceremonies and incidentally have connections with the Jewish Kabbalah which has been well documented in Magic and Witchcraft: From Shamanism to the Technopagans by Nevill Drury which covers the emergence of the Kabbalah, alchemy and discusses medieval witchcraft and the European as well as the esoteric philosophy of the Freemasons and Rosicrucians.

Yes it's true that we cannot blame everything on conspirators but nonetheless we do have to give them a great deal of the credit. The minds of a few intellectuals are the brains behind any movement- and other average people, well meaning or dupes carry out their plans. The reason why we know the Catholic Church is divine is because Christ founded it on the shoulders of ignorant fisherman, not conspirators (except the one that hung himself). Now the apostles became Holy men and martyrs. They were guided by the Holy Ghost Whom Christ promised to be with them till the end of time.

The question I have for Ms. Miesel is: If a definite Masonic plot is all fantasy and the mere imagination of Catholic conspiracy theorists, then why did the past popes find it so necessary to warn us about these infiltrators and conspirators, namely Freemasons, Modernists and Communists?

As evidence I present Divini Redemptoris by Pope Pius XI, the encyclical Ad Apostolorum Principis by Pope Pius XII which he issued on June 29, 1958 on Communism and the Church in China. and the encyclicals on freemasonry such as Leo XIII's:"Humanum Genus"; Custodi Di Quella Fede released on Dec 8, 1892; Dall'alto Dell'apostolico Seggio on Oct 15, 1890, as well as Pope Clement XII in his Pontifical Constitution "In Eminenti" in which he strongly condemned Freemasonry for being Counter-Church and Counter-State in 1738. Then there was Pope Benedict XIV, who on March 16, 1751, published the Constitution "Providas" and in 1825, Leo XII issued his Encyclical "Quo Graviora" condemning the Society called Freemasonry as did Leo XIII in his specific encyclical on Freemasonry Humanum Genus which he promulgated on April 20, 1884 in which, he said:

"27. Now, from the disturbing errors which We have described the greatest dangers to States are to be feared. For, the fear of God and reverence for divine laws being taken away, the authority of rulers despised, sedition permitted and approved, and the popular passions urged on to lawlessness, with no restraint save that of punishment, a change and overthrow of all things will necessarily follow."

"Yea, this change and overthrow is deliberately planned and put forward by many associations of communists and socialists; and to their undertakings the sect of Freemasons is not hostile, but greatly favors their designs, and holds in common with them their chief opinions."

Were they whacko conspiracy nuts also, Ms. Miesel??

    Ms Miesel states,

"Within a decade (1912), Msgr. Ernest Jouin of France had founded the International Revue of Secret Societies for conspiracy connoisseurs. Its outrage appealed to Irish Holy Ghost Rev. Denis Fahey, whose imagination had been captured by Jesuit priest Mathieu Deschamps's Secret Societies and Society. ..Father Fahey (1883-1954) undertook a one-man crusade against what he called Jewish naturalism, which was supposedly the guiding philosophy of the Jewish nation since it rejected Our Lord. The theory goes like this: Since spurning the Bible for the Talmud and the Kabala, Jews no longer believe in God. Century after century, they systematically attack the kingship and high priesthood of Christ in a relentless drive to enthrone their race as collective messiahs over the rest of mankind."

Perhaps what Ms. Miesal realy means is that these above men looked at the following:

And what about St. Paul, Ms Miesel was a he a whacko conspiracy theorist when he said in 1 Corinthians 1:23 "But we preach Christ crucified: unto the Jews indeed a stumblingblock, and unto the Gentiles foolishness" ?

The unbelieving Jews reacted to Christ in this way Jn 5:16 - "Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because He did these things on the sabbath" (John 5: 16). Was St. John a whacko conspiracy theorist?

What about John's words in John 5:18? "Hereupon, therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He did not only break the sabbath but also said God was His Father, making Himself equal to God"

The unbelieving Jewish religious authorities reacted this way to the miracle of the blind man being healed as related in John 9: "The Jews then did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight" (John 9: 18).

To the believing Jews we read in John 8:31, "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him: If you continue in My word, you shall be My disciples indeed." Ms. Miesel, is following the Talmud and Kabbalah the same as following Christ? Perhaps Fr. Fahey was right and you are wrong.

Jesus said to the unbelieving Jewish Pharisees of His day who were plotting to kill Him in John 8: 43-45 "Why do you not know My speech? Because you cannot hear My word. You are of your father, the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning: and he stood not in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. But if I say the truth, you believe Me not."

Ms. Miesel, shame on you for bad mouthing committed priests like Monsignor Jouin and Fr. Fahey because they were only quoting the popes and scripture in their books- they were not anti-Semitic at all but prayed for the Jews to know the real Messiah and Savior of the world Jesus Christ. No good Catholic could ever be anti-Semitic as Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary a true daughter of Israel. But all good Catholics must look at the warnings of the past popes regarding the false Christs which the Masons, Communists and Kabbalists present to us. There is a conspiracy, Ms. Miesel. If you cannot see it, then you not only have your head in the sand, but, despite what might be good intentions on your part, being misled by the devilish forces who mean us all harm. I say this because you are dismissing solid Catholic teaching and warnings by previous reliable Sovereign Pontiffs who knew whereof they were speaking. The question remains, do you know whereof you speak and will you continue to mislead your readers into thinking we have no plotting enemy?
