Editor's father Lowell 'Mickey' Cain The bond between father and son run deep. From the shores of Cass Lake to the sands of the Pacific, from the love for family to the love for God's Holy Will. The rewards are bountiful!

In our editorial to kick off this special Transfiguration-Assumption Vacation Issue, we share a few new features of this format and then share very personal thoughts of a son for his father, a father who was born in Cass Lake near an Indian reservation on Lake Ojibway, one of the 10,000 lakes in a remote area of northern Minnesota. It was the same year Our Lady appeared in a remote place north of Lisbon, Portugal - Fatima and three years before Pope John Paul II was born in Wodowice, Poland. Like His Holiness, Lowell Cain, father of the editor, is full of vitality and spirit; like John Paul the Great, dad is a solid Catholic and obedient to a fault; like the Pope he has experienced the highs and lows and come through the furnace of trial in golden fashion. Dad and our stepmom Katie We're not equating the Pope to my dad in holiness in this life, for there are few who are more saintly in the public eye than the man called Karol Wojtyla. And yet, in God's House, a simple, humble parent can attain the same spiritual treasures just by following His Holy Will. That is the measure of a man and my dad has passed the test with flying colors and continues this trend in helping others as a helpful, humble lay Catholic on his earthly pilgrimage. This man taught me how to fish for men as Jesus taught Peter while also teaching me how to land a delicious walleye pike. With a family reunion of three generations of the Cain family on tap for this vacation, I wanted to share with all how important fathers are - not just on Father's Day, but throughout our life - especially in our earlier formation. For our commentary, Making up for lost time with a great role model: my dad! see CATHOLIC PewPOINT
